9 Remove devices from the home menu If a device is no longer connected to the TV, remove it from the home menu. 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select a device to remove. 3 Press OPTIONS . The »[Remove device] list appears. 4 Press OK , then select [Remove] to remove the device. The selected device is removed from » the home menu. Change picture and sound settings Change picture and sound settings to suit your preferences. You can apply pre-de ned settings or change settings manually. Use smart picture Use smar t picture to apply pre-de ned picture settings. 1 Press PICTURE . The »[Smart picture] menu appears. 2 Press to select from the following smar t picture settings: • [Personal] : Lists customized picture settings. • [Sports] : Applies rich and dynamic settings. • [Standard] : Adjusts picture settings to suit most environments and types of video. • [Movie] : Applies settings for movie viewing. • [Game] : Applies settings for games. • [Energy saving] : Applies low-energy settings. 3 Press OK to con rm your choice. The selected smar t picture setting is » applied. 5 Use more of your TV Access TV menus Menus help you to install channels, change picture and sound settings and access other features. 1 Press MENU . The menu screen appears. » 2 Press to select and navigate through one of the following menus. • [Watch TV] : Switches back to the antenna source if another source is selected. • [Add new device] : Adds new devices to the home menu. • [Setup] : Accesses menus to change picture, sound and other settings. 3 Press OK to con rm your choice. 4 Press MENU to exit. 10 Change picture format 1 Press FORMAT . A picture format bar appears. » 2 Press to select a picture format. The selected picture format is activated. » 3 Press OK to con rm your choice. Summary of picture formats The following picture settings can be con gured. Note Depending on the format of the picture • source, some picture set tings are not available. [Super zoom] : (Not for HD and PC mode.) Removes the black bars on the side of 4:3 broadcasts. There is minimal distor tion. [4:3] : Shows the classic 4:3 format. [Subtitle zoom] : Displays 4:3 pictures over the full area of the screen, with sub-titles visible. Par t of the top of the picture is clipped off. [Movie expand 14:9] : (Not for HD and PC mode.) Scales 4:3 format to 14:9. [Movie expand 16:9] : (Not for HD and PC mode.) Scales 4:3 format to 16:9. [ Wide screen] : Scales 4:3 format to 16:9. [Unscaled] : For HD and PC mode only, and in selected models only. Allows maximum sharpness. Some distor tion may be present due to the broadcaster’s systems. Set your PC resolution to wide screen mode for best results. Manually adjust picture settings 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Picture] . The »[Picture] menu appears. 3 Press to select from the following settings and adjust: • [Smart picture] : Accesses pre-de ned smar t picture settings. • [Backlight] : Adjusts the backlight. • [Contrast] : Adjusts the intensity of bright areas, keeping dark areas unchanged. • [Brightness] : Adjusts the intensity and details of dark areas. • [Color] : Adjusts color saturation. • [Tint] : Adjusts the color balance in an image. • [Sharpness] : Adjusts sharpness in the image. • [Noise reduction] : Filters and reduces noise in an image. • [Color temperature] : Introduces more orange tones ( [Warm] ) or blue tones ( [Cool] ). • [Dig.CrystalClear] : Adjusts picture quality to optimal contrast, color and sharpness. • [Dynamic contrast] : Enhances contrast. • [Dynamic backlight] : Adjusts brightness of the T V backlight to match lighting conditions. • [Color enhancement] : Makes colors more vivid and improves the details in bright colors. You can switch this feature on or off. • [PC mode] : Adjusts picture settings when a PC is connected to the T V. • [Picture format] : Changes the picture format. • [Horizontal shift] : Adjusts the picture horizontally for PC-VGA or HD input. • [Vertical shift] : Adjusts the picture ver tically for PC-VGA or HD input. 11 • [Surround] : Enables spatial sound. • [Auto volume] : Automatically reduces sudden volume changes, for example, when switching channels. • [Delta volume] : Levels out volume differences between channels or connected devices. Switch to the connected device before you change the delta volume. Create and use list of favorite channels You can create a list of your preferred TV channels so that you can nd those channels easily. Select a favorite list 1 When watching T V, press OK to display the channel grid. 2 Press OPTIONS . The channel options menu appears. » 3 Press to select [Select list] , then press OK to enter. The channel list options appear. » 4 Select [Favorite] , then press OK . Only channels in the favorite list » appear in the channel grid. Note The favorite channel grid is empty until you • add channels into the favorite lists. Add a channel to a favorite list 1 When watching T V, press OK . The channel grid appears. » 2 Press to select a channel to add to a favorite list. 3 Press OPTIONS . The channel options menu appears. » Use smart sound Use smar t sound to apply pre-de ned sound settings. 1 Press SOUND . The »[Smart sound] menu appears. 2 Press to select a smar t sound setting: • [Standard] : Adjusts sound settings to suit most environments and types of audio. • [News] : Applies settings for spoken audio, such as news. • [Movie] : Applies settings for movies. • [Personal] : Applies the settings that were customized in the sound menu. 3 Press OK to con rm your choice. The selected smar t sound setting is » applied. Manually adjust sound settings 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Sound] . The »[Sound] menu appears. 3 Press to select and adjust: • [Smart sound] : Accesses pre-de ned smar t sound settings. • [Bass] : Adjusts the bass level. • [Treble] : Adjusts the treble level. • [Volume] : Adjusts the volume. • [Balance] : Adjusts the balance of the right and lef t speakers. • [SAP] : Selects a second broadcast audio language. • [Mono/Stereo] : Selects mono or stereo if stereo broadcast is available. • [TV speakers] : Sets the T V speakers on or off, or outputs sound to an EasyLink-compliant device. 12 Note To disable the clock , repeat the above • procedure. Use timers You can set timers to switch the TV to standby at a speci ed time. Tip Set the T V clock before you use timers. • Automatically switch the TV to standby (sleep timer) Sleep timer switches the T V to standby af ter a pre-de ned period of time. Tip You can switch off your T V earlier or reset the • sleep timer during the countdown. 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Features] > [Sleep timer] . The »[Sleep timer] menu appears. 3 Press to set the sleep time. The sleep timer can be up to 180 » minutes in steps of ve minutes. If set to zero, the sleep timer is switched off. 4 Press OK to switch on the sleep timer. The TV switches to standby after the » speci ed time. 4 Select [Mark as favorite] , then press OK . The channel is added to the favorite » list. Note All favorite channels are marked by an asterisk • in the channel grid. Remove a channel from a favorite list 1 When watching T V, press OK . The channel grid appears. » 2 Press to select a channel to remove. 3 Press OPTIONS . 4 Select [Unmark as fav.] , then press OK . The channel is removed. » Use the TV clock You can display the TV clock. (only available in RF) Set the TV clock 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Features] > [Clock] The »[Clock] menu appears. 3 Press or the Numeric buttons to enter time. 4 Select [Done] and press OK to con rm. 5 Press MENU to exit. 13 Lock or unlock the TV Lock the T V to prevent access to all channels and connected devices. 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Features] > [TV lock] . You are prompted to enter your PIN » code. 3 Enter your code with the Numeric buttons . The »[TV lock] menu appears. 4 Press to select [Lock] or [Unlock] . 5 Press OK to con rm. All channels and connected devices are » locked or unlocked. 6 Press MENU to exit. Note If you select •[Lock] , you have to enter your code ever y time you turn on your T V. Lock or unlock one or more channels 1 When watching T V, press OK to display the channel grid. 2 Press to select a channel to lock or unlock. 3 Press OPTIONS . 4 Press to select [Lock channel] or [Unlock channel] , then press OK . You are prompted to enter your PIN » code. 5 Enter your code and press OK . If the channel is locked, a lock icon » displayed. 6 Repeat the process to lock or unlock more channels. Automatically switch the TV on (on timer) You can switch on the T V from standby to a speci c channel at a speci ed time. 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Features] > [On timer] . 3 Press to enter the [On timer] menu. • [Activate] : Selects how of ten the T V is switched on. • [Time] : Sets the time to switch on the T V. • [Channel no.] : Selects the channel. 4 Press MENU to exit. Tip Select •[On timer] > [Activate] > [Of f ] to disable this feature. Use TV locks You can prevent your children from watching cer tain programs or channels by locking the TV controls. Set or change your PIN code 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Features] > [Set code] / [Change code] . The »[Set code] / [Change code] menu appears. 3 Enter your code using the Numeric buttons . Follow the on-screen instructions to » create or change your PIN code. 14 View photos and play music from a USB storage device Use the USB connector to view photos or listen to music stored on a USB storage device. Note Your TV only suppor ts USB ash drives in • FAT/FAT32 format. It does not suppor t other devices that can be connected to the USB por t including but not limited to the following: por table storage devices such as ex ternal hard drives and mini hard drives, MP3 player, digital camera, phone, por table video player, por table multimedia player. Connect a USB storage device and enter the content browser 1 Turn on the T V. 2 Connect the USB storage device to the TV . 3 Press MENU . The home menu appears. » 4 Press to select [Browse USB] . 5 Press OK to con rm. The USB content browser appears. » Tip Press • BROWSE to switch between thumbnail and le browsing views. Note Switch the T V off and on again for the change • to take effect. If you access the locked channels, you are • prompted to enter your PIN code. View closed captions (subtitles) The caption ser vice displays transmitted closed caption text. The captioned text can be displayed permanently or only when the TV is muted. Note This television provides a display of television • closed captioning that conforms with the EIA- 608 standard and in accordance with Sections 15.119 of the FCCrules. If you connect your set-top box via HDMI or • component video input, you cannot select closed caption through the T V. You can select closed caption through the set-top box only. The captions do not always use correct • spelling and grammar. Not all T V programs and product commercials • include closed caption information. Refer to your area T V program listings for the T V channels and times of closed caption shows. The captioned programs are usually noted in the T V listings with ser vice marks such as ‘CC’. 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Features] > [Closed caption] . 3 Press to enter [Closed caption] . 4 Press to select your preference. 5 Press OK . 6 Press MENU to exit. 15 Listen to music 1 In USB browser view, select [MUSIC] and press to enter. 2 Press to select a music track or album. 3 Press OK to play the selected music. Button Function OK Pause, resume play or stop playback. / Go to the previous or nex t music. Music settings When listening music, press OPTIONS to access one of the following music settings. • [Start playback] / [Stop playback] : Star ts or stops the music. • [Play mode] : • [Play once] : Disables repeat play and plays a song once. • [Repeat] : Repeats a song. • [Shuf e] : Plays songs randomly. • [Show info] : Displays the le name. • [TV speakers] : Sets the T V speakers on or off. View a slide show with music You can view picture slide show with background music. 1 Select an album of songs. 2 Press OK . 3 Press BACK to return to USB content browser. 4 Select an album of pictures. 5 Press OK to view photo. 6 Press OK again to star t slide show. View photos 1 In the USB browser, press to enter the [Picture] folder. 2 Press to select a photo or a photo album. 3 Press OK to view a full screen image of the photo. Tip When in full screen mode, press • to move between photos. View a slide show of your photos 1 When a full screen image of a photo is displayed, press OK . A slide show begins from the selected » photo. 2 Press the following buttons to control the slide show: • OK to pause the slide show. • to go back or move for ward to the nex t image. • BACK to stop the slide show. Change slide show settings 1 When viewing a slide show, press OPTIONS . The slide show options menu appears. » 2 Press to select from the following settings and adjust: • [Start slideshow] / [Stop slideshow] : Star ts or stops a slide show. • [Slideshow transitions] : Displays a list of transition styles. • [Slideshow frequency] : Sets the amount of time that a picture is shown. • [Rotate image] : Rotates a picture. • [Show info] : Displays the picture name, date, size and nex t picture in the slide show. 3 Press OK to con rm the setting change. 16 Update using a USB device Connect your USB device to the USB por t at the side of your T V. 1 If the sof tware update screen does not appear automatically, select [Setup] > [Software update] > [Local updates] . 2 Press OK to update the T V sof tware manually. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update. Note The T V restar ts af ter the sof tware update is • complete. Change TV preferences Use the preferences menu to customize your TV settings. 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Preferences] . • [Location] : Optimizes T V settings for your location - home or shop. • [Volume bar] : Displays the volume bar when you adjust the volume. • [EasyLink] : Enables one-touch play and one-touch standby between EasyLink-compliant devices. • [Pixel Plus Link] : Overrides the settings of connected devices and uses the settings of the T V. • [E-sticker] : For shop mode only. Sets the location of the e-sticker. 3 Press MENU to exit. Disconnect a USB storage device Caution Follow this procedure to avoid damage to your • USB storage device. 1 Press BACK to exit the USB browser. 2 Wait for ve seconds then disconnect the USB storage device. Update the TV software Philips continuously tries to improve its products and we recommend that you update the TV software when updates are available. Check www.philips.com/suppor t for availability. Check the current software version 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Software update] > [Current software] . The TV displays the current software » information. Download the software 1 On your PC , open a web browser and go to www.philips.com/support. 2 Download the latest sof tware upgrade le to your PC . 3 Decompress the ZIP- le. 4 Copy the le to the root director y of the USB device. 17 Start a TV demo You can use demonstrations to better understand the features of your T V. Some demos are not available on cer tain models. Available demos are displayed in the menu list. 1 Press DEMO on the remote control. 2 Press to select a demo and press OK to view it. 3 Press BACK to exit. Reset the TV to factory settings You can restore the default picture and sound settings of your TV. The channel installation settings remain the same. 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Factory settings] . 3 Press to enter [Factory settings] . 4 Select [Reset] to star t resetting. 5 Press OK . 6 Press MENU to exit. 18 Manually install channels This section describes how to search and store analog TV channels manually. Select your system Note Skip this step if your system set tings are • correct. 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Channel inst all.] > [Manual install] . The »[Manual install] menu appears. 3 Press to select [Color system] , then press to enter. 4 Select your system, then press OK to con rm. 5 Repeat the previous steps for [Sound system] . 6 Press MENU to exit. Fine tune analog channels 1 Press MENU . 2 Press to select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Channel inst all.] > [Manual install] . The »[Manual install] menu appears. 3 Press to select [Fine-tune] , then press to enter. 4 Press to adjust frequency. 5 Press OK to con rm. 6 Press MENU to exit. 6 Install channels The rst time you setup your TV, you are prompted to select a menu language and to install TV and digital radio channels (if available). This chapter provides instructions on how to re-install and ne tune channels. Select TV tuner 1 Press MENU . 2 Select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Channel inst all.] > [Tuner mode] 3 Press to select the source of T V broadcast, then press OK to con rm the selection. 4 Press to return to previous menu.
