    Using on-screen menus
    Refer to control reference on page 20.
    1 Press [DISPLAY]. 
    pDepending on the condition of the unit (playing, stopped, etc.) 
    and disc contents, there are some items that you cannot select 
    or change. 
    2 Press [,] to select the menu and press [].
    3 Press [,] to select the item and press []. 
    4 Press [,] to select the setting.
    pSome items can be changed by pressing [ENTER]. 
    To clear the on-screen menus 
    Press [DISPLAY].

    Select the audio and language (

    Angle* [DVD-V] [DVD-A]
    Change the number to select an angle.
    Still-P (Still picture) [DVD-A]
    Selects the play method for still pictures. 
    Slide Show: Plays according to the default order on the disc.
    Page: Select the still picture number and play. 
    pRANDOM: Plays in random order. 
    pReturn: Returns to the default still picture on the disc.
    PBC (Playback control 
    ➡ page 49) [VCD]
    Indicates whether menu play (playback control) is on or off. 
    (unchangeable).
    * With some discs, you may only be able to make changes using the 
    menus (➡page 16) on the disc.
    pThe display changes according to the disc content. You cannot 
    change anything when there is no recording.This function works only when the elapsed play time is displayed. 
    Select the item for repeat play. Depending on the disc, the items that 
    can be selected will differ.

    pWhen progressive output is on, closed captions cannot be 
    displayed. 
    Transfer [Only when “Progressive” (

    Select the method of conversion for progressive output to suit the 
    type of material being played (

    pAuto1 (normal): 
    Automatically detects the film and video content, 
    and appropriately converts it.
    pAuto2:In addition to “Auto1”, automatically detects film 
    contents with different frame rates and appropriately 
    converts it.
    pVideo:Select when using “Auto1” or “Auto2”, and the video 
    content is distorted.
    Line-in NR (Only when IN1 or IN2 is selected.) 
    Reduces video tape noise while copying.
    Depending on the video signal, jittering may occur.
    pAutomatic:Noise reduction only works on picture input from a 
    video tape.
    pOn:Noise reduction works for any video input. 
    pOff:Noise reduction is off. Select when you want to 
    record input as is.

    Depends on the state of recording.
    [Note]pOnce deleted, divided or shortened, a title cannot be restored to its 
    original state. Make certain before proceeding.
    pYou cannot edit during recording.
    p[+RW] You can create a Top Menu using “Create DVD Top Menu” 
    (
    ➡page 33). Recording or editing on the disc may delete the 
    menu. In that case, create the menu again.
    p[+R] [+R]DL] Management information is recorded in unused 
    sections when you edit discs. The available space on these discs 
    decreases each time you edit their contents.
    Preparation 
    pTurn on the television and select the appropriate video input to suit 
    the connections to this unit.
    pTurn the unit on.
    pPress [THEATER] to switch the remote control to operate this unit.
    pPress [DRIVE SELECT] to select the DVD drive.
    pInsert a disc (

    pYou can use SD Memory Cards with capacities from 8 MB to 2 GB 
    (

    pYou cannot copy still pictures recorded on CD-R/CD-RW.
    [Note]pWhen copying the still pictures on a folder by folder basis or using 
    “Copy All Pictures (JPEG)” function (➡ right), files other than the 
    still picture files inside the folder will also be copied. (This does not 
    apply to the lower folders contained inside the folders.)
    pIf still pictures are already contained inside the copying destination 
    folder, the new still pictures are recorded following the existing still 
    pictures.
    pIf the space on the destination drive runs out or the number of files/
    folders to be copied exceeds the maximum (
    ➡ page 19), copying 
    will stop partway through.
    pWhen a name has not been input for the copying source folder, it is 
    possible that this folder’s name will not be the same on the copying 
    destination. It is recommended that you input a folder name before 
    copying (
    ➡ page 27, Album Name).
    pYou cannot copy the information about the print number setting 
    (DPOF) or the picture rotation.
    pThe sequence in which the still pictures are registered on the 
    copying list may not be the same at the copying destination.
