Choose discs with this mark: Continued use of irregular shaped CDs can damage the unit. Do not •use CDs that have extra labels or stickers attached. Carefully remove leftover adhesive before use. •attach scratch-proof covers or any other kind of accessory. •write anything on the CD. •clean CDs with liquids. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. •use CDs printed with label printers available on the market. •load a blank CD-R as it will cause abnormal malfunction and may damage the CD-R. Note about using a DualDisc •The digital audio content side of a DualDisc does not meet the technical specifications of the Compact Disc Digital Audio (CD-DA) format so play may not be possible. •Do not use a DualDisc in this unit as it may not be possible to insert it correctly and it may get scratched or scraped. Note Avoid listening for prolonged periods of time to prevent hearing damage. Using headphones (not included) Turn down the volume and connect the headphones to the [PHONES] jack. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remedies indicated in the chart do not solve the problem, refer to the “Customer Services Directory” on page 11 if you reside in the U.S.A., or refer to the “Product information” on page 3 if you reside in Canada. Reference pages are shown as black circled numbers 4. Common Problems Is the AC power supply cord connected to the unit? Disconnect when using batteries. Have the batteries been inserted correctly? Check that the poles (+ and –) are correctly aligned. 4 Replace the batteries or use household AC power. The unit doesn’t work on batteries. “UO1” is displayed. CD Indicates an incorrect operation. Read the instructions. Clean the CD. Wait for an hour for condensation to dry, then try again. Make sure the label is facing up. Replace the CD if it is scratched, warped, or irregularly shaped. RX-D29 only Play of a multi-session disc may not be possible if there is a blank data segment between sessions. RX-D29 only If there is large JPEG data etc. within a MP3 file, sound may become muted and play may not be possible. RX-D29 only If you try playing a CD that contains MP3 format data and normal audio data (CD-DA), output from one of the above may become silent, and play may not be possible. The disc was incompletely formatted. Use the recording equipment to fully format the disc before recording. “ERROR” is displayed. Play doesn’t start or display is incorrect. CD-RW cannot be read. Radio Is another remote control being used? Use it further away from this unit. Is a TV on? Move the unit away from the TV or turn it off. A lot of noise. Remote control Check the batteries are inserted correctly. 4 Replace the batteries if they are worn. The remote control doesn’t work. Cassette Has the cassette’s tab been removed? Cover the hole with adhesive tape. 9Clean the heads. 3The batteries are flat. Replace the batteries or connect to household AC power. Press [ PLAY] then [/ STOP/EJECT]. Recording not possible. Poor sound quality.The cassette cannot be ejected or the lid can’t be closed when loading a cassette.
