f Exit the automatic playback and returns to the MEMORY VIEWER screen (thumbnails). When the automatic playback function is disable Introduce the procedure of the operation under the [MEMORY VIEWER] menu → [AUTOPLAY] is set to [OFF] ( x page 94). In this case, it will play a file one by one. 1) Press asqw to select a file from the thumbnail, and then press the button.\ f It will start playing in full screen. f Press the button to pause the playback. Press the button again to play the video at the position of pause. f After playback ends, playback goes into pause state at the beginning of the file. f If you press w during playing, you can fast forward playback. In addition, the speed w\ ill be faster by pressing w each time. (3 stages) f If you press q during playing, you can rewind playback. In addition, the speed will be\ faster by pressing q each time. (3 stages) f Press a during playing, it will be returned to play from the beginning. (Play from the beginning) f Press w during pausing, it will skip the current playing and automatic play from the next file. f Press q during pausing, it will automatic play from the previous file. 2) Press the button on the remote control or the button on the control panel. f Exit the automatic playback and returns to the MEMORY VIEWER screen (thumbnails). Note f If the number of recording pixels is less than display dots*1, it will be enlarged while maintaining the aspect ratio. f If the number of recording pixels is more than display dots*1, it will be reduced display while maintaining the aspect ratio. f The order of playback, please follow the order that you set on the [MEMOR Y VIEWER] menu→ [SORT] (x page 94). Resume playing function The resume playing function can be used when the auto play function is disable ([MEMOR Y VIEWER] → [AUTOPLAY] is set to [OFF]) ( x page 94). If you stop a video during playing, and then want to resume playing the \ same video, this function allow you to replay from the position where you stop last time. The video starts to play from the position where you stop last time in o\ ne of the following situation: f When you stop the video during playing and return to the Memory V iewer screen, then select the same video. f When you want to play the original video after playing another video file or image file. Note f During playing, you can press the button to pause the video, and press the button on the remote control or the button on the control panel to exit the full screen display. The resume information (the position where you stop the video during playing) will be kept automatically . f The maximum number of the file whose resume information (the position where you stop the video during playing) being kept is up to 50. If it exceeds, the resume information of the oldest file cannot be kept. f It maybe impossible to resume playing exactly from where you stop last time. f When switching the input to the [MIRRORING] or [Panasonic APPLICATION], unplugging the power cord, removing the USB memory, the resume information will be discarded. Description of the memory viewer screen The indication of icons on the memory viewer screen are as following: Icon indicates that can move to the upper layer. Move to the upper layer when selected. Icon indicates the lower layer of the folder. Move to the lower layer when selected. Icon indicates that the file is a still image. About MIRRORING The MIRRORING is a function to project the same images as the displayed images on the device with the projector. The MIRRORING function connects the Intel® WiDi / Intel® Pro WiDi / Miracast compatible device to the projector via wireless LAN. Connecting with the Intel® WiDi / Intel® Pro WiDi / Miracast compatible device 1) Press the button on the remote control. f Switch the MIRRORING input, and the MIRRORING idle screen will display . f You can also select the MIRRORING input by pressing the button on the control panel. Note f Miracast is a standard that developed by Wi-Fi Alliance, it is possible to transmit the image displayed on the device wirelessly. f Intel ® WiDi or Intel® Pro WiDi is a standard that developed by Intel, it is based on the Miracast and added with new technologies and functions, it is also possible to transmit the image di\ splayed on the device wirelessly. f When connected with MIRRORING, the volume cannot be adjusted by pressing the buttons on the remote control. f The MIRRORING function is disabled when the [WIRELESS LAN] menu is set to [DISABLE] ( x page 89). f If a space is inserted in the projector name of [NAME CHANGE], the space in the projector name will be displayed to “_” on the MIRRORING idle screen for the projector or on the Intel ® WiDi / Intel® Pro WiDi / Miracast compatible device. Lamp and Warning Indicators When an indicator lights up If a problem should occur inside the projector, the lamp indicator and the warning indicator will inform you by lighting or blinking. Check the status of the indicators and remedy the indicated problems as follows. Attention f Before you take a remedial measure, follow the procedure of switching the power of f indicated in “Powering Off the projector”. (x page 128) A problem is detected in the lamp or the power supply for the lamp. Check f Was [REPLACE LAMP] displayed when you turned on the power? f The indicator lights up when the runtime of the lamp unit has reached 5 000 hours (when [LAMP POWER] is set to [NORMAL]). f Have you turned on the power again immediately after turning it off? f Some error has occurred in the lamp circuit. Check for fluctuation (or drop) in the source voltage. Remedy f Replace the lamp unit. f Wait a while until the luminous lamp cools off, and then turn on the power. f Turn off the projector, and unplug the AC power cord, and consult your dealer. Note f If the lamp indicator is still lighting or blinking after taking the preceding measures, ask your dealer for repair . Warning indicator Indicator statusLighting in red Blinking in redBlinking in red (Slow) Status Internal temperature is high (warning). Internal temperature is high (standby status).The projector detects an abnormal condition and cannot be turned on. Check f Is the air intake/exhaust port blocked? f Is the room temperature high? f Is the air filter unit dirty? _ Remedy f Remove any objects that are blocking the air intake / exhaust port. f Install the projector in a location with an ambient temperature of 0 °C (32 °F) to 40 °C (104 °F). f Do not use the projector at high altitudes of 2 700 m (8 858') or higher above sea level. f Replace the air filter unit. ( x page 126) f If the projector is turned off again, unplug the AC power cord and contact the dealer or the service center for service and checkup. Maintenance/replacement Before performing maintenance/replacement f When you perform maintenance or replacement of the parts, make sure to turn of f the power and disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet. ( Æ pages 45, 41) f Be sure to observe the procedure “Powering Off the projector” (x page 45) when performing power supply operation. Maintenance Outer Case Wipe off dirt and dust using a soft dry cloth. f If the dirt is persistent, soak the cloth with water and wring it thorou\ ghly before wiping. Dry off the projector with a dry cloth. f Do not use benzene, thinner or rubbing alcohol, other solvents or household cleaners. Using them may cause deterioration of the outer case. f When using chemical treated dusters, follow its instruction. Front glass surface of the lens Wipe off the dirt and dust off the front surface of the lens with soft clean cloth. f Do not use a cloth that has an abrasive surface or a cloth that is moist\ , oily or covered with dust. f Do not use excessive force when wiping the lens as it is fragile. f Do not use benzene, thinner or rubbing alcohol, other solvents or household cleaners. Using them may cause deterioration of the lens. Attention f The lens is made of glass. Impacts or excessive force when wiping may scratch its surface. Please handle with care. Replacing the unit Air filter unit The air filter prevents dust from accumulating on the optical elements inside the projector . Should the air filter become clogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fans’ effectiveness and may result in internal heat buildup and adversely affect the life of the projector. If the air filter unit become clogged, it will result in internal heat buildup, the power of the projector may be turned of f for safety. If a warning message appears on the screen, replace the air filter immediately . Consult your dealer to purchase a replacement air filter unit (ET -RFV300). Removing the air filter unit 1) Remove the air filter cover. (Fig.1) f Open the air filter cover in the direction of the arrow and remove it. 2) Remove the air filter unit. f Hold the tab of the air filter unit and pull out in the direction of the arrow . (Fig.2) f After removing the air filter unit, remove foreign objects and dust from the air filter compartment and the projector ’s air intake port if there are any. Attaching the air filter unit Ta b 1) Attach the unused air filter unit to the projector. f Hold the air filter unit that the tab is in up-left side in the figure, put the right side in the figure first, and press the tab side until make a click sound. f Please press the tab of the air filter unit other than the pleated filter during installation. 2) Install the air filter cover. f Perform Step 1) in “Removing the air filter unit” ( x page 126) in the reverse order to close the air filter cover and press it firmly until make a click sound. f Make sure that the air filter cover is closed tightly. Resetting the filter counter Be sure to reset the filter counter after replacing the air filter unit. 1) Connect the power plug, press the power < v/b> button on the control panel or the power on < b> button on the remote control. 2) Press the button to display the main menu, then press as to select [PROJECTOR SETUP]. 3) Press the button, press as to select [FILTER COUNTER]. 4) Press the button, press as to select [FILTER COUNTER RESET]. 5) Press the button. f [FILTER COUNTER RESET] confirmation is displayed. 6) Press qw to select [OK], then press the button. f The filter usage time is 0 after reset. Attention f Turn off the power before you replace the air filter unit. f When attaching the air filter unit, make sure that the projector is stable, and work in an environment that is safe, even in the event of the air filter unit dropping. f Make sure that the air filter unit is properly attached before using the projector . If it is not attached, the projector will suck in dirt and dust causing a malfunction. f Do not put anything into the air vents. Doing so may result in malfuncti\ on of the projector. f The air filter unit to be replaced should be an unused product. f After replacing the air filter, reset the filter counter. Otherwise, “FILTER COUNTER has reached the set time.” will appear on screen. Note f The replacement cycle of the air filter unit varies greatly depending on the usage environment. Lamp unit The lamp unit is a consumable component. Refer to “When to replace the lamp unit” ( x page 128) for details about the replacement cycle. It is recommended to ask an authorized engineer to replace the lamp unit. Contact your dealer . Consult your dealer to purchase a replacement lamp unit (ET-LAV300). Warning Do not replace the lamp unit when it is hot. (Wait at least 1 hour after use.) The inside of the cover can become very hot, take care to avoid burn inj\ uries. Notes on the replacement of the lamp unit f The luminous source of the lamp is made of glass and may burst if you hi\ t it against a hard surface or drop it. Please handle with care. f A Phillips screwdriver is required for replacement of the lamp unit. f When replacing the lamp unit, be sure to hold it by the handle. f When replacing the lamp because it has stopped illuminating, there is a possibility that the lamp may be broken. If replacing the lamp of a projector which has been installed on the ceiling, you sho\ uld always assume that the lamp is broken, and you should stand to the side of the lamp cover, not underneath it. Remove the lamp cover gently. Small pieces of glass may fall out when the lamp cover is opened. If pieces of glass get into your eyes\ or mouth, seek medical advice immediately. f The lamp may be ruptured. Care should be taken not to scatter pieces of the broken lamp glass when replacing the lamp unit. Pieces of the broken lamp may fall from the lamp unit especially w\ hen the projector is mounted on the ceiling, so when replacing the lamp unit do not stand directly underneath it or position \ your face close to it. f The lamp contains mercury. Consult your local municipality or your dealer about correct disposal of used lamp units. Attention f Panasonic takes no responsibility for any damage or malfunction of the p\ roduct resulting from use of lamp units which are not manufactured by Panasonic. Use only specified lamp units. Note f The model numbers of accessories and optional accessories are subject to\ change without prior notice. When to replace the lamp unit The lamp unit is a consumable component. Since its brightness gradually \ decreases over time, it is necessary to replace the lamp unit regularly. The estimated duration before replacement is 5 000 hours, but the lamp may go off before 5 000 hours has elapsed depending on individual lamp characteristics, usage conditions, \ and the installation environment. It is recommended that the Replacement lamp unit be prepared earlier. If you continue to use the lamp unit after 5 000 hours has elapsed, the lamp turns of f automatically after approximately 10 minutes, as it will cause malfunction of the projector. Lamp runtime On-screen display 160 - ENGLISH REPLACE LAMP LAMP indicator Over 4 800 hours The message is displayed for 30 seconds. If you press any button within the 30 seconds, the message disappears. Lights in red (even in stand-by mode). Over 5 000 hours If the power is turned on without replacing the lamp, the power automatically turns off after approximately ten min - utes to prevent the malfunction of the projector. Note f To predict when to replace the lamp, check the lamp runtime displayed in [RUNTIME] in [STATUS] (x page 77). f 5 000 hours of use is a rough guideline, but is not a guarantee. The lamp runtime differs depending on the setting of "LAMP POWER" menu. Replacing the Lamp unit Attention f When the projector is mounted on a ceiling, do not work with your face close to the projector . f Do not loosen other than designated screws. f Attach the lamp unit and the lamp cover securely. 1) Turn off the Power by following the procedure in "Powering Off the Projec\ tor". ( x page 45) Remove the AC power plug from the wall outlet. f Wait at least 1 hour and make sure the lamp unit and surroundings are cool. 2) Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the lamp cover fixing screw (×1\ ) until it turns freely and remove the lamp cover. f Remove the lamp cover by pulling it slowly toward the direction of the a\ rrow. 3) Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the three lamp unit fixing screws (\ ×3) until they turn freely. 4) Hold the used lamp unit by its handles, and pull it gently from the proj\ ector. 5) Insert the new lamp unit in correct direction. Tighten the three lamp unit fixing screws (×3) securely with a Phillips screwdriver. f When you experience difficulty in installing the lamp unit, remove it and try again. If you use force to install the lamp unit, the connector may be damaged. 6) Attach the lamp cover. Tighten the lamp cover fixing screw (×1) securely with a Phillips sc\ rewdriver. f Perform Step 2) in the reverse order to attach the lamp cover. Note f When you replace the lamp unit with new one, the projector resets the runtime of the lamp unit automatically . ENGLISH - 129 Chapter 6 Maintenance - Maintenance/replacement

ProblemCauseReference page Power does not turn on. f The power cord may not be connected. f No electric supply is at the wall outlet. f The circuit breakers have tripped. f Is the lamp indicator or the warning indicator lit or blinking? f The lamp cover has not been securely installed. — — — 125 128 No picture appears. f The video signal input source may not be connected to a terminal properl\ y. f The input selection setting may not be correct. f The [BRIGHTNESS] adjustment setting may be at the minimum setting. f The input source which is connected to the projector may have a problem.\ f The AV MUTE function may be in use. 38 50 61 — 53, 76 The picture is fuzzy. f The lens cap is still attached to the lens. f The lens focus may not have been set correctly. f The projector may not be at the correct distance from the screen. f The lens may be dirty. f The projector may be tilted too much. 23 46 33 20 — The color is pale or grayish. f [COLOR] or [TINT] adjustment may be incorrect. f The input source which is connected to the projector may not be adjusted\ correctly. f RGB cable is damaged. 61 — — No sound from the internal speaker. f The input terminals may not have been correctly connected. f The volume may have been set to the minimum level. f The AV MUTE function may have been turned on. f When the VARIABLE AUDIO OUT is plugged-in, the projector’s built-in speaker is not available. f The MUTE function may have been turned on. f Is the audio input selection in [AUDIO SETTING] set correctly? 39 49, 81 53, 76 39 54, 81 82 The remote control does not operate. f The batteries may be weak. f The batteries may not have been inserted correctly. f The remote control signal receptor on the projector may be obstructed. f The remote control unit may be out of the operation range. f Strong light such as fluorescent shine onto the signal receptor. f The [REMOTE CONTROLLER] setting is set to [DISABLE] in [CONTROL DEVICE SETUP]. f Is the ID number setting operation correct? f Check if the switch on the remote control is set to "ON". — 29 26 26 26 87 54 25 Menu screen does not appear. f Is the on-screen display function turned off (hidden)? 70 The control buttons of the projector do not operate. f The [CONTROL PANEL] setting is set to [DISABLE] in [CONTROL DEVICE SETUP]. 87 The picture does not display correctly. f There may be a problem with the VCR or other signal source. f A signal which is not compatible with the projector is being input. — 141 Picture from a computer does not appear. f The cable may be longer than the optional cable. f The external video output from a laptop computer may not be correct. — — Picture from a HDMI device does not appear or picture is not stable. f Is the HDMI cable securely connected? f Turn off the power of the projector and the connected devices.
