Handset ringer tone You can change the ringer tone heard when an outside call is received. There are 3 tones, 4 melodies, and 2 songs. Important: LYou can record songs for the handset ringer tone from an audio device. Note: LIf you subscribe to a distinctive ring service (such as IDENTA-RING), select a tone (Tone 1 to 3). If you select a melody or a song, you will not be able to distinguish lines by their ringers. LIf you select a melody or a song, the ringer will continue to sound for several seconds if: – the caller hangs up before you answer the call. – another person answers the call using another phone connected on the same line.

Recording songs from an audio device for ringer tones (Customize ring) You can record songs (max. 30 seconds each) from an audio device by connecting the included audio cable. These songs can be assigned as the handset ringer tone (page 36) and the ringer ID (page 27) for phone numbers stored in the phonebook. Important: LIf a call is received while the audio cable is connected to the handset, disconnect the audio cable from the handset and answer the call, or you and the caller will not hear each other’s voice. LIf a call is received while a song is being recorded or played back, recording or playback will stop automatically. If recording, the partially recorded song will be saved. The caller will hear the song being played and you and the caller will not be able to hear each other’s voice until you disconnect the audio cable from the handset. 1Connect the audio device to the handset using the included audio cable. 2Press {MENU} (middle soft key). 3Scroll to K, then press {SELECT}. 4Scroll to “Customize ring”, then press{SELECT}. 5Scroll to “Record”, then press {SELECT}. LThe remaining recording time will be displayed. 6Press play on the audio device. LFor better sound quality, increase the volume on the audio device. LTo adjust the handset speaker volume, press {V} or {^} repeatedly. 7Press {REC.} to start recording. 8To stop recording, press {STOP}. LTo listen to the recording, scroll to “Playback”, then press {SELECT}. There are 3 patterns. 1Press {MENU} (middle soft key). 2Scroll to L, then press {SELECT}. 3Scroll to “Wallpaper”, then press {SELECT}. 4Scroll to “Set picture”, then press {SELECT}. LTo turn the wallpaper feature off, select “Turn off”. The display color will change to the color you selected for color (see “Handset display color” on page 40). 5Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select the desired pattern. LTo view the picture name, press {LIST}. To return to the picture, press {VIEW}. 6Press {SAVE}, then press {OFF}. Note: LIf you have missed calls or new messages, the selected wallpaper pattern will not be displayed while the handset is off the base unit. The display will indicate that you have missed calls or new messages instead.
