Initial Settings (found on the bottom Only Switch Normal dialing can be operated. The manual or automatic dialing operation of a number with more than 7 digits is not possible. Automatic Dialing n There are 20 memory stations, each station is capable of storing 16 digits. W There are 8 Direct Call buttons, each capable of storing 16 digits. Each Dialing button serves as a memory station. 1 2 3 4 5 1 2 Lift the handset. Press PROGRAM button. 0 Store indicator flashes, To store a phone number. n Home Use Press Station No. l Phone numbers can be stored into memory stations m /7-] to vj /-S-j, Press the telephone number. Press AUTO/STORE button. 0 Phone numbers can be stored into memory stations m [il to m m following the same procedure. l You may use the Direct Call button instead of pressing the station number. n Office Use (PBX) (e.g. ... line access number 9) Lift the handset. Press PROGRAM if you notice an error. l Repeat all the steps of “Storing Phone Numbers”. Example: To erase the number in memory station m m : 1 Lift the handset. 2 Press PROGRAM button. l The Store Indicator flashes. 3 Press Station No. q q . Or the direct call button where the telephone number that you want to erase is stored. 4 Press AUTO/STORE button. 5 Press PROGRAM button. Be sure the handset is off the cradle. 1 Enter the same number into the same memory station. 2 After AUTO/STORE button is pressed; l When the Store Indicator blinks once, the new stored number is different from the old one. l When the Store Indicator blinks twice, the new stored number is the same as the old one. 10

Other Operations Press REDIAL button when the line is busy. l Pressing the REDIAL button enables you to redial once. The PAUSE button function is needed behind the PBX for outside line access or a computer accessed dial tone. When you press the PAUSE button, you can dial the phone number without waiting for the line access. n One pause is required when waiting for an outside dial tone. Example (PBX): Phone No. Line Access No. Some PBXs require this “PAUSE” during an automatic redial. If you want to change from pulse mode into tone mode during dialing, the TONE button can be used instead of changing the Dialing Mode selector. 11

Other Operation (cont.) 7-o Place a Call on Hold while having a conversation, 1 2 You may hang up the handset. l The caller will not be disconnected. Press HOLD button. l The HOLD Indicator blinks slowly. To Release Hold n When the handset is being lifted 1 Press HOLD button again. Speak to the calling party. n When the handset is on the cradle 1 Lift the handset. 2 Speak to the calling party. Parallel Connection To release a hold using another telephone connected on the same line: Lift the handset of the other telephone. 12

Special Phone Company Services The Flash button can be used for CALL WAITING. For more details about obtaining “CALL WAITING” service, contact your telephone company. CALL WAITING 1 While having a conversation, another party calls and a tone is heard. 2 e-&g@“r P 1 Press FLASH button lightly. I l The first conversation is placed on hold and the second call can be ~~~~~ answered. Press FLASH button lightly again. l You will be able to speak to the first caller again and the second call is placed hold. l If the calling party on hold hangs up, the line is terminated. n You may access some features of your PBX using the Flash button instead of the hookswitch. Press the Flash button lightly in the dialing operation. The “Flash” can be stored into memory in the same way as “Storing Phone Numbers” on page 8. The memory station can be programmed to automatically access features of your host PBX. Press the Flash button lightly at the position where the hookswitch operation is required in a dialing operation when programming into a memory station. 13

Wall Mounting This unit can be mounted on a wall phone plate. If you do not have a modular wall plate installed, we recommend that you consult your telephone company or an installer to have one installed I Turn around the handset hook. 2 3 Remove the attaching stand. Insert the cord as shown. 5 Mount the unit on the wall phone plate. 6 Place the handset To temporarily place the handset down during a conversation, hook as shown. Replace the stand. 15
