One-touch dialer Y o u can store up to 20 phone numbers in the one-touch dial buttons (10 numbers in UPPER memory locations and 10 numbers in LOWER memory locations). Do not press any one-touch dial buttons before storing to prevent misoperation. Note: R If a phone number is stored in a one-touch dial button which already contains a phone number, the old number will be erased. UPPER memory locations Storing phone numbers 1 Li ft the handset. 2 MPROGRAM N R Status indicator light will start double flashing at an interval. 3 Enter a phone number up to 32 digits. RIf a pause is required for dialing, press MPAUSE N. A pause stored in a phone number counts as one digit. R If a wrong number is entered, press MEXIT N and repeat step 2. 4 Press a one-touch dial button. RA long beep sounds. R Status indicator light will turn OFF. 5 When finished, hang up. Note: R We recommend you program an emergency number in the MEMERGENCY N. R Emergency number is number stored in the MEMERGENCY N that can be dialed even when call restriction (page 14) is turned on. Speed dialer Y o u can store up to 10 numbers in the memory stations. The dialing buttons M 0 N to M9 N function as memory station numbers. Do not press any memory stations before storing to prevent misoperation. Note: R If a phone number is stored in a dialing button which already contains a phone number, the old number will be erased. Call restriction Y o u can restrict the unit from dialing phone numbers beginning with specified digit(s) (1 digit or 2 digits). Phone numbers with the restricted leading digits cannot be dialed out, except the emergency number (#) stored in the one-touch dial and speed dial. Note: R When call restriction is turned on, you cannot store or erase the emergency numbers in the MEMERGENCY N. Setting the call restriction 1 Li ft the handset. 2 MPROGRAM N R Status indicator light will start double flashing at an interval. 3 MHOLD/MODE N ® M 1 N R If you have not changed the unit password (default: 1111), go to step 5. 4 Enter the unit password ® M PROGRAM N R A beep sounds. R If you have entered the wrong password, error beep will sound. Enter the correct password ® M PROGRAM N 5 Enter the number(s) (1 digit or 2 digits) you want to restrict ( M0 N to M 9 N) ® M PROGRAM N R A long beep sounds. R Status indicator light will turn OFF. 6 When finished, hang up. R If you have entered the wrong password, error beep will sound. Enter the correct password ® M PROGRAM N 5 MG N ® M PROGRAM N R A long beep sounds. R Status indicator light will turn OFF. 6 When finished, hang up. Changing the unit p a ssword Important: If you change the password, please make note of your new password. The unit will not reveal the password to you. If you forget your password, consult your nearest Panasonic service center. 1 Lift the handset. 2 MPROGRAM N R Status indicator light will start double flashing at an interval. 3 MHOLD/MODE N ® M 5 N 4 Enter the current 4-digit password (default: 1111) ® M PROGRAM N R A beep sounds. R If you have entered the wrong password, error beep will sound. Enter the correct password ® M PROGRAM N 5 Enter the new 4-digit password ® M PROGRAM N R A long beep sounds. Optional headset P l ugging the optional headset into the unit allows a hands-free phone conversation. Please use only a Panasonic KX-TCA93, KX-TCA400, KX-TCA430 or KX-TCA60. Connecting the optional headset to the unit C o nnect the optional headset to the headset jack as shown below. If you want to have a normal conversation, disconnect the headset. Making/answering calls 1 P r ess MHEADSET N to make or answer a call. R Status indicator light will turn ON. 2 Dial the phone number. 3 When you finish talking, press MHEADSET N. R Status indicator light will turn OFF. To adjust the headset receiver volume (4 levels) W h ile using the headset, press VOL.MDN or VOL. MCN. R During a conversation using the headset, you cannot switch the call to the handset by lifting it off the cradle. R If you disconnect the optional headset during a conversation with the handset on the cradle, the call will be switched to the speakerphone. R During a conversation using the speakerphone, you can switch the call to the headset by connecting the headset. Desk mount setup T h is unit can be used in 2 positions. Low desk position (default) High desk position – Y ou can adjust the wall mount adaptor to slope this unit. Changing to the high position 1. Press the tab in the direction of the a rrow ( A), then remove the adaptor ( B ). 2. Wall mount setup T h e unit can be mounted on a wall by changing the wall mount adaptor’s position. Note: R Make sure that the wall and the fixing method are strong enough to support the weight of the unit. 1 Pull down the handset hook until it locks, s o the tabs holds the handset.2 Press the tabs in the direction of the arrows ( A) , then remove the wall mount adaptor ( B). 3 Turn the adaptor. Tuck the telephone line cord inside the wall mount adaptor. I nsert the lower tabs of the adaptor into the unit’s bottom slots ( A), then insert by pushing down the levers of the adaptor into the upper slots ( B). 4 Drive screws (not included) into the wall using the wall template below. Connect t he telephone line cord. Troubleshooting General use Problem Cause/solution The unit does not work. RCheck the connections (page 7). T he unit does not ring. RThe RINGER selector is set to OFF. Set to HIGH o r LOW (page 9). R Make sure the unit is not in programming mode. You cannot dial. RCheck the dial tone. If there is no dial tone, check t he connections (page 7). R The dialing mode may be set incorrectly. Change the settings (page 7). R M PROGRAM N may have been pressed. Hang up the handset and try again. The other party suddenly c a nnot hear your voice during a conversation. R M MUTE N may have been pressed during the conversation. To cancel, press MMUTE N again (page 9). Both party suddenly c a nnot hear each other during a conversation. R M PROGRAM N may have been pressed. It will cause status indicator to double flashing. Press M EXIT N to exit. You cannot store a phone n u mber in memory. R Confirm the handset is off the cradle. R D o not enter the phone number more than 32 digits long, or the entered number and the previously stored number will be cleared. R When using the call restriction (page 14), you cannot store emergency number in the MEMERGENCY N. Status indicator is keep b l inking. R The unit is in programming mode. If it is left for o ver 60 seconds, busy tone will be heard. To exit: – place the handset on the cradle if using handset. – press MSP-PHONE N if using the speakerphone. How to exit the program s e tting? R Place the handset on the cradle or press M S P-PHONE N. Liquid damage Problem Cause/solution Liquid or other form of m o isture has entered the unit. R Disconnect the telephone line cord from the unit. L eave the unit to dry for at least 3 days. After the unit is completely dry, reconnect the telephone line cord. If requested, this number must be provided to the telephone company. – Registration No. ............(found on the bottom of the unit) – Ringer Equivalence No. (REN)...... 1. 0B A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with the product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone company. For products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3). If this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice isn’t practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary. The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service. If trouble is experienced with this equipment, for repair or warranty information, please contact a Factory Service Center or other Authorized Servicer. If the equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved. Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information. If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation of this equipment does not disable your alarm equipment.
