Picture Adjustment Contrast: Increases the contrast between light and dark parts of the picture. Brightness: Brightens the picture. Sharpness: Adjusts the sharpness of the edges of horizontal lines. Color: Adjusts the shade of the picture’s color. Gamma: Adjusts the brightness of dark parts. Depth Enhancer: Reduces the rough noise in the background to give a greater feeling of depth. Video Output Mode To select suitable picture quality with your television 480i (interlaced) ,------. 480p (progressive) When you select “480p”, a confirmation screen appears. Select “Yes” only if connecting to a progressive output compatible television. Transfer Mode If you have chosen “480p” (➜above), select the method of conversion for progressive output to suit the type of material. Auto1 (normal): Detects 24 frame-per-second film content and appropriately converts it. Auto2: Compatible with 30 frame-per-second film content in addition to 24 frame-per-second film content. If you have to place the center or surround speakers closer to the seating position, adjust the delay time to make up for the difference. RQT8779 27 Using the AM/FM Radio ∫FM frequency step The step is factory-set to 0.2-MHz, but you can change it to receive broadcasts allocated in 0.1-MHz steps. 1Press [SELECTOR] to select “FM”. 2Press and hold [SELECTOR]. After a few seconds the display changes to show the current minimum frequency. Continue to hold the button down. The minimum frequency changes and the step is changed. To return to the original step, repeat steps 1 and 2. [Note]After changing the setting, previously preset frequencies will be cleared. Preset them again. Use outdoor antennas if radio reception is poor. ≥Disconnect the antenna when the unit is not in use. ≥Do not use the outdoor antenna during an electrical storm. XM channels are organized into categories such as Rock, Classical, Country and Dance to make browsing and selecting broadcast content easier. [Note]≥Category tune mode will be canceled automatically after approximately 15 seconds if there is no user input. ≥ The display mode setting ( ➜right) cannot be changed while in category tune mode. ≥ The signal strength indicator function ( ➜page 28) cannot be activated while in category tune mode. ≥ XM channel selection by category enables you to narrow down your choices to channels belonging to a broadcasting category of your choice and then to select a favorite channel from the chosen category. Available categories vary according to broadcasting hours. The unit does not display categories with no broadcasting XM channel. ≥ Some XM channels belong to two categories; a primary and secondary category, either of which can be us ed for XM channel selection. Although you may have selected an XM channel from its secondary category (e.g. DANCE), after exiting and then re-entering category tune mode, the primary category of the XM channel is displayed (e.g. DECADES). (Excluding Sound Field Control: HEAVY, CLEAR or SOFT) ≥You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these sound effects are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn the sound effects off. ≥If you turn on Dolby Pro LogicII, Sound Field Control (MOVIE, SPORT or MUSIC) is canceled.
