•You haven’t inserted a disc or the disc you inserted cannot be recorded on. Insert a disc the unit 
can record onto.

Some programs have limitations on the number of times they can be recorded. (CPRM)

nHow to hold a disc
Do not touch the recorded surface.
nConcerning non-cartridge 
discs
Be careful about scratches and dirt.

condensation on the disc 
Wipe with a damp cloth and then wipe dry.
nHandling precautions
•
Do not attach labels or stickers to discs. (This may cause disc 
warping and un-balanced rotation, rendering it unusable.) 
•Write on the label side of the disc only with a soft, oil-based felt 
pen. Do not use ballpoint pens or other hard writing implements.
•Do not use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static 
electricity prevention liquids or any other solvent. 
•Do not use scratch-proof protectors or covers.
•Do not drop, stack, or impact discs. Do not place objects on them.•Do not use the following discs:
– Discs with exposed adhesive from removed stickers or labels 
(rented discs, etc).
– Discs that are badly warped or cracked.
– Irregularly shaped discs, such as 
heart shapes. 
•Do not place in the following areas:
– In direct sunlight.
– In very dusty or humid areas.
– Near a heater.
– Locations susceptible to significant differences in temperature 
(condensation can occur).
– Where static electricity or electromagnetic waves occur.
•To protect discs from scratches and dirt, return them to their cases 
or cartridges when you are not using them.
The precision parts in this unit are readily affected by the 
environment, especially temperature, humidity, and dust. 
Cigarette smoke also can cause malfunction or breakdown.
To clean this unit, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
•Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this unit.
•Before using chemically treated cloth, carefully read the 
instructions that came with the cloth.
Observe the following points to ensure continued listening and 
viewing pleasure.
Dust and dirt may adhere to the unit’s lens over time, making it 
impossible to record or play discs.
Use the DVD lens cleaner about once every year, depending on 
frequency of use and the operating environment. Read the lens 
cleaner’s instructions carefully before use.
Note
Do not obstruct the rear panel’s internal cooling fan.
1. Damage requiring service—The unit should be serviced by qualified service personnel if:
(a) The AC power supply cord or AC adaptor has been damaged; or
(b) Objects or liquids have gotten into the unit; or
(c) The unit has been exposed to rain; or
(d) The unit does not operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
(e) The unit has been dropped or the cabinet damaged.
2. Servicing—Do not attempt to service the unit beyond that described in these operating instructions. Refer all other servicing to authorized
servicing personnel.
3 Replacement parts—When parts need replacing ensure the servicer uses parts specified by the manufacturer or parts that have the same
characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized substitutes may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards. 
4. Safety check—After repairs or service, ask the servicer to perform safety checks to confirm that the unit is in proper working condition.

Limited Warranty Coverage
If your product does not work properly because of a defect in materials or workmanship,

which starts with the date of original purchase (“warranty period”), at its option either (a)
repair your product with new or refurbished parts, or (b) replace it with a new or a

Preparación
•Encienda el televisor y seleccione la entrada de vídeo apropiada a 
las conexiones de esta unidad.
•Si conecta el aparato a través de una caja de TV por cable o 
receptor de satélite, sintonice su PBS local para hacer la puesta en 
hora automática del reloj. Si no hay PBS local, ponga la hora 
manualmente en la pantalla “Ajustar manualmente el reloj”.

Grabación de programas de televisión
•No es posible grabar continuamente desde una cara a la otra en 
un disco de dos caras. Tendrá que expulsar el disco y darlo la 
vuelta.
•Cuando utilice discos DVD-RAM de 8 cm (3″) o DVD-R de 8 cm 
(3″) con el cartucho, retire el disco del cartucho.
•Puede grabar hasta 99 títulos en un disco (  49 títulos).
•No es posible grabar emisiones digitales que permiten “Grabación 
sólo una vez” en discos DVD-R, DVD-RW, +R o DVD-RAM de 8 cm 
(3″). Utilice un DVD-RAM compatible con CPRM.
1Pulse [; OPEN/CLOSE] para abrir la 
bandeja e introducir un disco.
•Pulse de nuevo el botón para cerrar la bandeja.
2Pulse [1 2 CH] para seleccionar el 
canal.

3Pulse [REC MODE] para seleccionar el 
modo de grabación (XP, SP, LP o EP).

La grabación se hará en el espacio vacío del disco. Los datos 
no se escribirán encima de otros.
•Durante la grabación no se puede cambiar el canal ni el 
modo de grabación. Puede cambiarlos cuando la grabación 
está en pausa, pero el material se graba como título aparte.
nPara detener la grabación
Pulse [g].
Desde el inicio al final de una grabación se denomina título.
nPara hacer una pausa en la grabación
Pulse [h].
Pulse de nuevo para reiniciar la grabación.
También puede pulsar [* REC] para reiniciar.
(El título no se divide en un título separado.)
nPara especificar un tiempo y detener la 
grabación–Grabación con una sola pulsación
Durante la grabación
Pulse [* REC] para seleccionar el tiempo de grabación.
nModo de grabación
Dependiendo del contenido que está siendo grabado, los tiempos 
de grabación pueden ser inferiores a los indicados. 
(Unidad: hora)
Cuando “Tiempo de grab. en el modo EP” se haya puesto en “EP 
(6H)” en el menú SETUP. 
La calidad del sonido es mejor cuando se utiliza “EP (6H)” que 
cuando se utiliza “EP (8H)”.
nUtilización del sistema VCR Plus+ para hacer 
grabaciones programadas
Durante la parada
1  Pulse [VCR Plus+].
2  Pulse los botones numerados para introducir el número 
PlusCode y pulse [ENTER].
3  Haga las correciones necesarias utilizando [e, r, w, q].
4 Pulse [ENTER]. 
Repita los pasos 1–4 para programar otras grabaciones. 
5 Pulse [SCHEDULE].
6 Pulse [^ DV D  P OW E R ] .
“z” se enciende en el visualizador de la unidad. 
nPara detener la reproducción
Pulse [g].
nPara detener la grabación
2 segundos después se detiene la reproducción
Pulse [g].
nPara parar la grabación programada
Pulse [g] y luego [ENTER] antes de que pasen 5 segundos. 
•También puede mantener pulsado [g] en el aparato principal 
durante másde 3 segundos para detener la grabación.
