E-61 OTHERS– Placing the unit in an upright position – With the use of the provided stand, the main unit can be placed in an upright position as shown in the following diagram. The left side should be at the bottom. Stand Notes •To place the VTR in an upright position, please use the provided stand. If the stand is not used, the unit may topple and result in injuries or breakdown. •Please place the unit on a leveled place. •When inserting the cassette, do not remove your hand until the cassette is being drawn into the unit.Particularly, when a mini DV cassette is used, removing your hand too early may cause the cassette to drop and get damaged.
E-62 OTHERS– Warning display – When an anomaly occurs, this unit automatically identifies the cause and displays an error- coded warning message on the monitor. The unit will eventually go into the POWER OFF mode if operation is continued. The video head is dirty. If the head is clogged, it will be detected and the alarm message will be displayed during the PLAYBACK mode. When the STOP mode is engaged or when the cas- sette is ejected, the display will go off. When the head clog is cleared, the message will disappear. Please check the power voltage. Please clean it with the dedi- cated head-cleaning tape. The POWER indicator on this unit blinks in green. The unit will not accept any operation commands.Please leave the power on and wait for the display to disappear. This error can be resolved by restarting the unit. However, doing so may damage the tape in some cases. Please consult your PANASONIC authorized dealer. When TAPE DEFFECTIVE (5605 - 5609) is displayed, the unit similarly stops operation but accepts one command, viz EJECT. Display Status Action Memo This unit uses a microcomputer. It may not function correctly if there is external noise. If this hap- pens, please turn off the power and then on again.
E-64 OTHERS– Troubleshooting – Symptom Action The power does not come on. The cassette cannot be loaded. Unable to record. The operation buttons of the main unit do not work. The 9 PIN REMOTE function does not work. Noise appears on the playback screen. Playback audio is disrupted. During DV signal input, the time codes are not recorded correctly. Video and sound are distorted for a few seconds after starting play- back. The wireless remote controller does not work at all. Power is not supplied even when the POWER button is pressed.Is the AC adapter correctly connected? Is the cassette indicator lighted? If so, a cassette is already loaded. Please unload the cassette first. Push the center of the cassette and make sure that the cassette enters levelly. Is the slide of the cassette set to REC? Please set it to REC if it is at the SAVE position. Is the front REMOTE SWITCH set at OFF? If it is set at 9 PIN or WIRELESS, main unit operation is not possible. Is the front REMOTE switch set at 9PIN? • Is the tape damaged? Please replace the cassette. • Is the head dirty? Please clean it with the dedicated head-cleaning tape. ( ☞ Page 8) Is the DV TC DUP. item of the TIME CODE menu set correctly? This occurs if the signal system of the playback tape is different from the NTSC/PAL setting. • Is the REMOTE switch on the main unit set to “WIRELESS”? • Are the batteries exhausted? Is the REMOTE switch set at “9 PIN” when the LOCAL FUNC- TION item of the REMOTE menu is set to something other than ALL KEYS? Please set the REMOTE switch to “OFF”.
