Troubleshooting
First, try out the following procedures (P91–96).
If the problem is not resolved, it may be improved by selecting [RESET] (P23) on 
the [SETUP] menu when taking pictures.
Batteries and power source
The camera turns off immediately even when battery power is full.

The subject is not focused properly.
•  The focus range varies depending on the Recording Mode.    Set the proper Recording Mode for the distance to the subject.
• Is the subject out of the focus range? (P25, 28 and 39)
• Have you taken a picture with jitter? (P30)
The recorded picture is blurred. The optical image stabilizer is not effective.
   The shutter speed becomes slower when pictures are taken in dark places so hold 
the camera fi  rmly with both hands to take the pictures....

LCD monitor
The LCD monitor turns off although the camera is turned on.
•  When the camera is not operated for a while, [POWER SAVE] or [AUTO LCD OFF] is  activated for [ECONOMY]. (P22)
•  If the LCD monitor turns off when you press the shutter button halfway, the batteries may  run out.
The LCD monitor darkens during use.
•  This camera automatically charges for fl  ash recording and may darken the LCD monitor 
for effi  cient charge. The monitor may darken in the following cases;

Playback
The picture being played back is rotated and displayed in an unexpected 
direction.
•  [ROTATE DISP.] (P70) is set to [ON].
The picture is not played back.
•  Is the recording/playback switch set to playback [ 5]? (P17)
•  Is there a picture on the built-in memory or the card?
   The pictures on the built-in memory appear when a card is not inserted. The picture 
data on the card appears when a card is inserted.
•  Is this a picture whose fi  le name has been changed in the PC?...

TV, PC and printer
The picture does not appear on the television.
•  Is the camera connected to the TV correctly?    Set the TV to video input mode. (P81)
The display areas on the TV screen and the camera’s LCD monitor are different.
•  Depending on the TV model, the pictures may be extended horizontally or vertically or  they may be displayed with their edges cut off.
The motion pictures cannot be played back on a TV.
