Installing Macintosh printing software
To set up the KX-P8420 as a PostScript printer, you must install the 
PostScript printer description file (PPD) that corresponds to your printer and 
the Adobe PostScript printer driver (version 8.5.1 supports PostScript 3) 
provided on the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM. Printer drivers provide

After you install the printer driver and printer description file, you need to set 
up the KX-P8420 in the Chooser. This section describes how to set up the 
KX-P8420 with the Adobe PostScript printer driver.
To set up the KX-P8420 in the Chooser:
1In the Chooser, ensure AppleTalk is enabled.
NOTE:
•If necessary you may need to add the AppleTalk zone in which 
your printer is located.
2Click the AdobePS printer icon in the Chooser.
3Select the name of the KX-P8420 from...

10In the dialog box that appears, click Select PPD. 
The Adobe PostScript printer driver automatically selects the 
KX-P8420 printer description file for your printer.
11Click Select, and then click OK.
12Close the Chooser.
The Adobe PostScript 8.5.1 driver can convert RGB colors of a file to a 
specified CMYK device target using ColorSync Color Management. The 
KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM includes a ColorSync profile for the

To use the KX-P8420 ColorSync printer profile:
1With a document open, select Print from the File menu.
2Select Color Matching from the pop-up menu under the 
Printer pop-up menu in the Print dialog box.
3Select ColorSync Color Matching or PostScript Color 
Matching from the Print Color pop-up menu.
4Select KX-P8420 Color Printer ICC from the Printer 
Profile pop-up menu.
5Click Save Settings to save the changes to the settings 
in the dialog box.

Installing additional software for Macintosh users
Additional software, including Adobe Type Manager, and PostScript screen 
fonts are included on the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM. Copy fonts 
files from PS3 Fonts folder on the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM to the 
System Folder of your Macintosh hard drive. Note that fonts files need to be 
moved to specific locations (Fonts folder of the System Folder); others can 
be moved to a folder of your choice.
