    Attach the video light.

    Press this button to start recording. Press it again to stop recording.
    This includes hold mechanism.

    Indicate the focal plane of the MOS sensor.
    It provides a reference for measuring the accurate focal distance from t\
    he subject.

    This works when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    Press this button to stop playback.
    Press this button when you stop interval recording or one-shot recording\
    , or when you end combining 
    to the clip of one-clip recording.
    15   button
    This works when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    Press this button during a pause to perform fast playback.
    Press this button during playback to perform 4x speed playback.
    If it is pressed with playback paused, the clip being played back is pau\
    sed at the start point of the next 
    clip (cued state).
    16   button
    This works when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    Press this button to view playback image.
    Press it during playback to pause playback.
    17   button 
    Press the button to display the thumbnail screen on the LCD monitor and viewfinder . Press it again to 
    return to the regular display.
    18  / buttons 
    Restore the display to the previous state while the setting menu or prop\
    erty screen is displayed.
    Press this button while holding down the  button to act as the ca\
    ncel button. This is 
    convenient, for example, for batch-canceling clip selections.
    19  Control stick 
    Use this button to select a thumbnail or to perform operations of menus \

    Press this button to display [USER MENU]. Press this button for 3 second\
    s or more to display the main 
    menu.
    Press it while the thumbnail is displayed to display the operation scree\
    n of the thumbnail menu, and 
    clips can be deleted.
    21   button 
    Use this button together with the control stick or other buttons.
     
    f Press the control stick upward/downward while holding down the  b\
    utton.
    This moves the cursor to the thumbnail of the clip at the start or the e\
    nd on the thumbnail screen.
     
    f Press the control stick while holding down the  button.
    This selects all clips from the previously selected clip up to the clip \
    at the cursor position.
     
    f Press the / buttons while holding down the  button.\
    This works as the cancelation function. 
    Operations with the  button held down are displayed in orange at \
    each operation section.
    22   button 
    : When pressing during playback, the audio volume of the monitor is incre\
    ased. When pressing 
    during pause, frame-by-frame play is performed.
    : When pressing during playback, the audio volume of the monitor is decre\
    ased. When pressing 
    during pause, frame-by-frame rewind is performed.
    23   button 
    Switch on/off the color bar. The color bar is interlocked with the test tone (1 kHz).
    24   button

    Power supply
    Power supply
    A battery or AC adaptor can be used as the power supply.
    Charging the battery
    The battery is not charged at the time of purchase. Fully charge the bat\
    tery in the battery charger before 
    using the battery.
    It is recommended that you have one extra battery.

    1 Place the battery horizontally along the  mark in the battery charger and slide it in. (Fig. 
    1)
    Press it in firmly.
    2 Connect an AC cable. (Fig. 2)
    Connect in the order shown in the figure.

    - Once the AC cable is connected, the lamp will light up.

    - Lit: Charging.
    -  Not lit: Charging is complete.
    -  Flashing: Reinsert the battery.
    3 Slide the battery out to remove it. (Fig. 3)

    f The time when the ambient operating temperature is 20 °C (68°F) and the relative operating humidity is

    - With the LCD monitor open
    -  When the main menu  → [OUTPUT SEL] → [SDI OUT] is set to [OFF]
    -  When the main menu  → [OUTPUT SEL] → [VIDEO OUT] is set to [OFF]
    -  With the cable not inserted into the  terminal
     
    t The battery and camera recorder will become warm during use or while cha\
    rging.
     
    t Make sure that batteries are discharged before storing them.
     
    t When stored for long periods of time, it is recommended that you charge \
    batteries once per year and 
    then use up the battery capacity by using the battery in the camera reco\
    rder before storing it again.
     
    t When the battery becomes extremely hot or cold, the  lamp will flash several times and 
    charging will automatically begin.
     
    t When the battery is left unused and discharged for a long time, the  lamp will flash several 
    times and charging will automatically begin.
     
    t If the  lamp continues blinking even when the battery is at its \
    optimal temperature, the 
    battery or battery charger may be damaged. Contact a dealer.
     
    t If the battery is warm, it will take longer than usual to charge.
     
    t If you use the battery charger near a radio, the radio sound may be dist\
    orted. Keep the battery and 
    battery charger at least 1 m away from radios when in use.
     
    t Noise may be emitted from the battery charger when using the battery cha\
    rger, but this does not indicate 
    a malfunction.

    f Remaining battery level display function
    The approximate remaining battery level can be checked by looking at the\
     LED display of the battery.
    The displayed battery level may be different when the battery is attached to the camera and you are 
    shooting and when the battery is not attached.
     
    f The supplied battery is intended for use only in this camera.
    Do not use it in other devices.

    [USER MENU] In the main menu → [USER MENU 
    SEL], you can select the desired items 
    and pages and register to [USER 
    MENU]. You can select them depending 
    on the purpose or frequency of use to 
    make a unique menu structure. Displayed by pressing the  
    button.
    Main menu You can set all items in the setting menu.
    The main menu has a structure of 
    categorized layers according to intended 
    use and setting frequency. Displayed by pressing and holding the 
     button for three seconds or 
    more.
    [OPTION MENU] Menu items are prepared to take into 
    account additional functions in the future.
    Please consult your vendor for more 
    details. Displayed by pressing the  
    button while pressing and holding the 
     button.
    Main menu structure
    [SCENE FILE]
    Configures the settings for scene files.
    This item is used to configure detailed image quality settings of the camera images, 
    to select scene files, and to configure the settings for reading/writing of scene file 
    data to the internal memory.
    This menu item cannot be set when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    [SYSTEM MODE] Configures the settings for the recording format of video and audio.
    [USER SW] Sets the functions to be assigned to the USER buttons (USER1 to USER8)\
    .
    [SW MODE] Configures the operations of each mode when switched the mode using each 
    switch.
    This menu item cannot be set when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    [AUTO SW] Configures the settings for the auto mode.
    Auto iris, auto gain control, auto tracking white balance, and auto focu\
    s functions 
    can be set separately.
    This menu item cannot be set when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    [RECORDING SETUP] Configures various settings when performing recording and playback.
    Set the system frequency, the number of lines, recording format, and recording 
    method.
    [CLIP] Used when performing various tasks, such as playing back, deleting, and \
    copying 
    clips, and editing metadata, while checking the thumbnail of the clips d\
    isplayed in 
    the viewfinder or LCD monitor.
    This menu item is enabled when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    Clip operations such as [DELETE] or [COPY] are enabled when the target 
    thumbnail is selected.
    Some items are displayed only in specific situations such as in USB host mode or 
    on the explorer screen.
    [AUDIO SETUP] Configures the settings for audio input/output.
    [OUTPUT SEL] Configures the settings for video output from the , , 
    , and  terminals.
    [NETWORK SETUP] Configures the settings for network.

    [DISPLAY SETUP]Configures the settings for the details to be displayed in the viewfinder or LCD 
    monitor.
    This menu item cannot be set when the thumbnail screen is displayed.
    [CARD FUNCTIONS] Configures the settings for reading/writing of scene files and user files to SD 
    memory cards.
    [OTHER FUNCTIONS] Configures the settings for reading/writing of user files to internal memory and 
    initialization, and the camera settings.
    [MAINTENANCE] Used for performing maintenance of the camera. This item is used when updating 
    the firmware version of the camera.
    [DIAGNOSTIC] Displays the firmware version, product name, serial number, and energized time of 
    the camera.
    [USER MENU SEL] Sets the items to be displayed in [USER MENU].

    Updating the camera firmware
    Updating the camera firmware
    There are two ways to update the firmware:
    1 Use the dedicated tool P2_Status_Logger to check and apply the update.
    Only customers registered as members to PASS (P2 Asset Support System) can log in to PASS to use 
    the dedicated (P2_Status_Logger) tool.
    With P2_Status_Logger, you can check the version information of the device used and jump to t\
    he 
    page to download the required firmware.
    For details about downloading and using P2_Status_Logger, refer to the pages displayed after logging 
    in to PASS.
    Other benefits are offered to registered users. For details, refer to the website (http://panasonic.biz/sav/
    pass_e) of PASS (P2 Asset Support System).
    2  Check the version using the camera and apply the update
    Check the version of the camera in the main menu  → [DIAGNOSTIC] → [VERSION], access the latest 
    information on the firmware from the website described in NOTE, and then download the firmware as 
    needed.

    t Update completes by loading the downloaded files to the camera via the SD memory card. For details on 
    update, visit the support desk at the following website:

    t On the camera, use SD memory cards that are compliant with the SD standa\
    rd, the SDHC standard, or 
    the SDXC standard.
    Always use the camera or P2 Viewer Plus to format the SD memory card.
