IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: READ THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS BEFORE YOU OR YOUR CHILD PLAY VIDEO GAMES • Some people (about 1 in 4000) may have seizures or blackouts triggered\ by light flashes or patterns, such as while watching TV or playing video games, even if they have never had\ a seizure before. • Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked\ to an epileptic condition should consult a doctor before playing a video game. • Parents should watch when their children play video games. Stop playing \ and consult a doctor if you or your child have any of the following symptoms: Convulsions Eye or muscle twitching Loss of awareness Altered vision Involuntary movements Disorientation • To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games: 1. Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible. 2. Play video games on the smallest available television screen. 3. Do not play if you are tired or need sleep. 4. Play in a well-lit room. 5. Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour. Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, skin or eyes hurt aft\ er a few hours. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrom\ e, skin irritation or eyestrain: • Avoid excessive play. It is recommended that parents monitor their child\ ren for appropriate play. • Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, even if you dont think you nee\ d it. • If your hands, wrists, arms or eyes become tired or sore while playing, \ stop and rest them for severalhours before playing again. • If you continue to have sore hands, wrists, arms or eyes during or after\ play, stop playing and see a doctor.To avoid electric shock when you use this system: • Do not use the Nintendo GameCube during a lightning storm. There may be \ a risk of electric shock fromlighting. • Use only the AC Adapter that comes with your system. • Do not use the AC Adapter if it has damaged, split or broken cords or wi\ res. • Make sure that the AC Adapter cord is fully inserted into the wall outle\ t or extension cord. • Always carefully disconnect all plugs by pulling on the plug and not on \ the cord. Make sure the Nintendo GameCube power switch is turned OFF before removing the AC Adap\ ter cord from an outlet. Playing video games can cause motion sickness. If you or your child feel\ dizzy or nauseous when playing video games with this system, stop playing and rest. Do not drive or eng\ age in other demanding activity until you feel better. To reset the controller, release all buttons and sticks to allow them to return to the correct neutral position, then hold down the X, Y and START/PAUSE Buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. NOTE: On specially designed games, the Game Boy ®Advance handheld video game system (sold separately, see back cover for purchasing information) can be connected directly to the Nintendo GameCube for use as an additional game screen and/or controller. CAUTION After making the necessary connections described in Section 2, System Setup , make sure that there is unrestr icted air flo w to the Nintendo GameCube . Once the system is proper ly located, continue with the instr uctions belo w. Tur n y our TV on. If the console is connected to y our VCR, tur n it on also and set it to VCR mode . For all of the connection methods except the RF s witch method, y ou will need to set the appropr iate Input Select setting f or your TV or VCR. (Illustr ation 1) INPUT SELECT INFORMA TION The input select allo ws you to s witch betw een the diff erent inputs on y our TV or VCR. Usually this w ould be between the Antenna input and the A udio/Video input(s). Locate the input select f or the component that the Stereo A V Cable is connected to (either the TV or VCR). The most common locations f or input select are: • A b utton on the front of the TV or VCR. • A b utton on the remote control. • A high-n umbered or lo w numbered channel (92, 99, 00, or 02) on the TV or VCR. • An on-screen men u selection. Man ufacturers of TVs and VCRs use diff erent names and locations f or Input Select. The common names f or the input select are: input, select, input select, line , line in, source, in, EXT , and AUX. Consult y our TV or VCR instr uction man ual for details . NOTE: More inf ormation on Input Select is a vailab le on our w eb site at For the RF switch connection, set y our TV channel to 3 and the s witch on the RF Modulator to 3. If channel 3 has an activ e television station, change both s witches to channel 4. Make sure that both the controller and A C Adapter are proper ly plugged into the console and the w all outlet.
