74 7The Shooting Menu Image Quality(• ) To reduce the amount of memory that each shot occupies, pictures are compressed as they are saved to the memory card. Compression selec- tively reduces the quality of the image; the more the picture is compressed, the more noticeable this loss of quality is likely to be.
