68 Storing the pictures in the specified Favorites folder More on Playback CPlayback/Adding to favorites Adding to favorites does not copy the original picture data and move it. The filename will be added to the favorites folder. Favorite Pictures Playback uses the filename from that favorites folder and playbacks the picture from there. Deleting a picture (A26, 67, 111) while in playback will delete the original picture that has been added to favorites, so be careful while deleting pictures. 69 Movies Movies Recording Movies To shoot movies with sound recorded via the built-in microphone, select shooting mode and follow the steps below. 1Press r to display the favorite menu, use the multi selector to choose D and press k. Exposure count display shows maximum total length of movie that can be recorded. 2Press the shutter-release button all the way down to start recording. Camera focuses on subject in center of frame. A progress bar at the bottom of the monitor shows the amount of recording time remaining. To end recording, press the shutter-release button all the way down a second time. BRecording Movies •Flash mode (A28) and exposure compensation (A32) can only be used for time-lapse (A72) movie. Macro mode (A31) is available in all modes. Self-timer (A30) cannot be used. •Flash mode, macro mode, and exposure compensation settings cannot be applied or changed while movies are being recorded. Apply or change settings as necessary before movie recording begins. •Optical zoom cannot be applied while movies are recorded. Digital zoom cannot be used just before recording a movie, but up to 2× digital zoom can be applied while movies are recorded (except for time lapse movie). •With the exception of Time-lapse movie mode, the angle of view (field of view) when shooting movies is smaller than when shooting still pictures. BDuring Recording The movie is being recorded from when the movie shooting was terminated to when the shooting screen appears. Do not open the battery-chamber / memory card slot cover. Removing the memory card or the battery during the movie recording may result in loss of the movie data or damage to the camera or the memory card. DChanging Movie Settings •Movie options, Electronic VR or Autofocus mode can be changed (A70). •When Movie options is set to Time-lapse movie P, movies are recorded without sound. 70 Movies The Movie Menu Movie options, Electronic VR or Autofocus mode settings can be changed from the movie menu. Press d in movie mode to display the movie menu and use the multi selector to modify and apply settings. Selecting Movie Options The movie menu offers the options shown below. CMovie Options and Maximum Movie Length and Frames * Movies can be as long as free space in the internal memory or on the memory card allows. All figures are approximate. Maximum movie length or frames varies with make of memory card. The maximum file size for movies is 2 GB. Even if the memory card has a capacity greater than 4 GB, the camera displays the maximum movie length for the file size of 2 GB. 71 The Movie Menu Movies Electronic VR Enable or disable electronic VR for movie recording. At settings other than Off, the electronic vibration reduction icon is displayed in the monitor (A6). DVibration Reduction for Time-Lapse Movies To enable or disable vibration reduction while shooting in Time-lapse movie mode 640P, use the Vibration reduction setting (A123) in the setup menu (A114). Autofocus mode Choose how the camera focuses in movie mode. OptionDescription x On (default setting)Reduce the effects of camera shake in all movie modes except Time-lapse movieP. k OffElectronic VR is not enabled. OptionDescription A Single AF (default setting)Camera focuses when shutter-release button is pressed halfway and locks at this position during shooting. B Full-time AF Camera focuses continuously until focus is acquired and locked. To prevent sound of camera focusing from interfering with recording, use of Single AF is recommended. 72 The Movie Menu Movies Time-Lapse Movies Record flowers opening or butterflies emerging from cocoons. 1Use the multi selector to choose Movie options from the movie menu and press k. 2Choose Time-lapse movieP and press k. 3Choose the interval between shots and press k. Choose from intervals between 30 seconds and 60 minutes. 4Press d. The camera returns to shooting mode. 5Press the shutter-release button all the way down to start recording. Monitor turns off and power-on lamp blinks between shots. Monitor reactivates automatically for the next shot. 6Press the shutter-release button all the way down a second time to end recording. Recording will automatically stop if the internal memory or memory card becomes full, or when 1,800 frames have been recorded. A 1,800-frame movie has a playback time of 60 seconds. 74 Movies Movie Playback In full-frame playback mode (A26), movies are recognized by the Movie options icon (A70). To play a movie, display it in full-frame playback mode and press k. Use the zoom buttons (g/f) to adjust playback volume. Playback controls appear at the top of the monitor. Press the multi selector J or K to choose a control, then press k to perform the selected operation. The following operations are available. Deleting Movie Files Press l when playing a movie, or when displayed in full- frame playback mode (A26), or when selected in thumbnail (A49) playback mode. A confirmation dialog is displayed. Choose Yes and press k to delete the movie, or choose No and press k to return to the normal playback display without deleting the movie. ToPressDescription RewindKRewind movie. 75 Voice Recordings Voice Recordings Making Voice Recordings Audio voice recordings can be recorded over the built-in microphone and played back over the built-in speaker. 1Press r to display the favorite menu, use the multi selector to choose E and press k. 2Choose Record and press k. The length of recording that can be made will be displayed. 3Press the shutter-release button all the way down to start recording. The indicator lamp lights during recording. After about 30 seconds, the camera’s auto off function is enabled and the monitor turns off. See, “Operations During Recording” (A76) for more information. 4Press the shutter-release button all the way down a second time to end recording. Recording will end automatically if the internal memory or memory card becomes full, or after five hours of recording on the memory card.
