• Choosing [Reset all] also clears the current file number (c123) from the memory. Num-
bering will continue from the lowest number available. To reset file numbering to “0001”,
delete all pictures (c102) before selecting [Reset all].
• Settings for [Date] (c108), [Date counter] (c113), [Language] (c118), [USB] (c118),
and [Video mode] (c118) in the setup menu will remain unaffected even if [Reset all] is
performed.

Approved Memory Cards
The following memory cards have been tested and approved for use in the
COOLPIX S50:
1If the memory card will be used with a card reader or similar device, the device must
support memory card specifications. If the device does not support memory card
specifications, insert the memory card into the camera and connect the camera to a
computer via the supplied USB cable to transfer pictures.

Pictures, movies, voice memos, and voice recordings are assigned file names
as follows:
• Files are stored in folders named with a folder number followed by a five-
character identifier: “P_” plus a three-digit sequence number for pictures
taken using panorama assist (e.g., “101P_001”; c40), “INTVL” for inter-
val timer photography (e.g., “101INTVL”; c94), “SOUND” (normal qual-
ity sound) or “SOUNE” (high quality sound) for voice recordings (e.g.,...

• Pictmotion movies (c57) are stored under the “NKST” folder in folders
named with a three-digit folder number followed by “PRJCT” (e.g.,
“101PRJCT”). Each folder contains the picture and sound files for a single
Pictmotion movie.
• Folders can hold up to 200 pictures; if a picture is taken when the current
folder contains 200 pictures, a new folder will be created by adding one to
