41 4 4. Optimize Performance You can set up the router to optimize performance for applications such as multiplayer gaming, peer-to-peer connections, or real-time communications such as instant messaging or remote assistance (a feature in Windows XP). By default, the router uses Wi-Fi Multimedia Quality of Service (WMM QoS). This chapter contains the following sections: •Use Dynamic QoS to Prioritize Bandwidth •Improve Network Connections with Universal Plug and Play •Wi-Fi Multimedia Quality of Service
Optimize Performance 42 Nighthawk X6 AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi Router Use Dynamic QoS to Prioritize Bandwidth Dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) prioritizes your WiFi bandwidth by ap\ plication and device. If your Internet bandwidth is limited, Dynamic QoS resolves Internet tra\ ffic congestion by using better application and device identification, bandwidth allocation\ , and traffic prioritization techniques. If you like gaming and streaming videos, you can benefit from enabling D\ ynamic QoS. Note:If you use a gigabit Internet connection, or your Internet download and \ upload speed is 300 Mbps or faster, you don’t need to use Dynamic QoS.
