English English-9 Remove Monitor Stand for Mounting To prepare the monitor for alternate mounting purposes: 1. Place hands on each side of the monitor and lift up to the highest position. Remove the cable cover (Figure S.1). 2. Disconnect all cables. 3. Place monitor face down on a non-abrasive surface (Figure S.2). NOTE:Handle with care when monitor facing down, for avoiding damage to the front control buttons. 4. Remove the 4 screws connecting the stand to the monitor (Figure S.2). NOTE:In order to avoid stand drop, when removing screws, please support stand with your hand. Screen Rotation Before rotating, the screen must be raised to the highest level to avoid knocking the screen on the desk or pinching with your fingers. To raise the screen, with one hand, grip the top of the display by the handle using the other hand to grip the bottom. Lift up to the highest position (Figure RL.1). To rotate screen, place hands on each side of the monitor screen and turn clockwise from Landscape to Portrait or counter- clockwise from Portrait to Landscape (Figure R.1). To mount the monitor to a flexible arm: 1. Follow the instructions on how Remove Monitor Stand for Mounting to remove the stand. 2. Using the 4 screws from the stand removal, attach the arm to the monitor (Figure F.1). NOTE:1. When mounting, use ONLY the screws (4 pcs) that were removed from the stand to avoid damage to the monitor or stand. 2. The LCD monitor should only be used with an approved arm (e.g. GS mark). To meet the safety requirements, the monitor must be mounted to an arm, which guaranties the necessary stability under consideration of the weight of the monitor. 3. The mounting stand must be able to sustain at least 23.2 kg and be UL certified. English English-11 Menu Detects the level of ambient lighting allowing the monitor to make adjustments to various settings resulting in a more comfortable viewing experience. Do not cover this sensor. Open OSD main menu. Exits the OSD controls. Exits to the OSD main menu. Moves the highlighted area left/right to select control menus. CONTRAST Adjusts the image brightness in relation to the background. AUTO CONTRAST (Analog input only) Adjusts the image displayed to optimal settings. ECO MODE Decreases the amount of power consumed by reducing the brightness level. OFF: Set brightness variable from 0% to 100%. 1: Set brightness variable range from 0% to 50%. This setting can adjust brightness within the range that power has reduced meeting Energy Star measurement condition. 2: Set brightness variable range from 0% to 30%. This setting can adjust brightness within the range that power has reduced 30% from maximum brightness setting. When this function is set to ON, a bar for CARBON FOOTPRINT appear under the brightness adjustment bar. NOTE:This function can’t work when DV mode is set for Dynamic. Up DownRight Left
English-12 AUTO BRIGHTNESS OFF: No function. 1: Adjusts the brightness automatically, by detecting the brightness level of your environment and adjusting the monitor with the best BRIGHTNESS setting* 1. 2: Adjusts the brightness automatically for the best BRIGHTNESS setting based on the white display area. The environmental brightness sensor (Ambibright sensor) has no function. 3: Adjusts the brightness automatically for the best brightness setting by detecting the brightness level of your environment using the brightness sensor (Ambibright sensor) and based on the white display area. *1: Please refer to Page 17 for full “Auto Brightness” information. NOTE:This function can’t work when DV mode is set for Dynamic. This function force mode 3 when ECO Mode is set for 1 or 2. DV MODE Dynamic Visual Mode allows you to select setting for Movie, Photo, Dynamic and etc. Auto Adjust (Analog input only) Automatically adjusts the Image Position, H. Size and Fine settings. Image Controls (Analog input only) LEFT / RIGHT Controls Horizontal Image Position within the display area of the LCD. DOWN / UP Controls Vertical Image Position within the display area of the LCD. H.SIZE Adjusts the horizontal size by increasing or decreasing this setting. FINE Improves focus, clarity and image stability by increasing or decreasing this setting. INPUT RESOLUTION (Analog Input Only) Selects resolution’s priority of input signal to one of the following pair: 1360 x 768 or 1280 x 768 or 1024 x 768 (vertical resolution 768), 1680 x 1050 or 1400 x 1050 (vertical resolution 1050). Colour Control System Colour Control System: Six colour presets select the desired colour setting (sRGB and NATIVE colour presets are standard and cannot be changed). R,G,B: Increases or decreases Red, Green or Blue colour depending upon which is selected. The change in colour will appear on screen and the direction (increase or decrease) will be shown by the bars. NATIVE: Original colour presented by the LCD panel that is unadjustable. sRGB: sRGB mode dramatically improves the colour fidelity in the desktop environment by a single standard RGB colour space. With this colour supported environment, the operator could easily and confidently communicate colour without further colour management overhead in the most common situations. NOTE: When MOVIE, GAMING, or PHOTO is selected as the DV MODE, NATIVE is selected automatically as the six colour preset and cannot be changed. Tools VOLUME: Controls the volume of the speakers or headphones. To mute the speaker output, press the “RESET/ECO MODE” button. SOUND INPUT (DisplayPort only): This function selects Audio Input or DisplayPort. VIDEO DETECT: Selects the method of video detection when more than one computer is connected. FIRST: The video input has to be switched to “FIRST” mode. When current video input signal is not present, then he monitor searches for a video signal from the other video input port. If the video signal is present in the other port, then the monitor switches the video source input port to the new found video source automatically. The monitor will not look for other video signals while the current video source is present. NONE: The Monitor will not search the other video input port unless the monitor is turned on. EXPANSION: Selects the zoom mode. FULL: The image is expanded to 1920 x 1080, regardless of the resolution. ASPECT: The image is expanded without changing the aspect ratio.
English English-13 OFF TIMER: Monitor will automatically power-down when the end user has selected a predetermined amount of time. Before powering off, a message will appear on the screen asking the user if they want to delay the turn off time by 60 minutes. Press any OSD button to delay the turn off time. LED BRIGHTNESS: You can adjust the Blue LED brightness. DDC/CI: This function allows the DDC/CI function ON or OFF. FACTORY PRESET: Selecting Factory Preset allows you to reset all OSD control settings back to the factory settings. Individual settings can be reset by pressing the RESET/ECO MODE button. Menu Tools LANGUAGE: OSD control menus are available in eight languages. OSD LEFT/RIGHT: You can choose where you would like the OSD control image to appear horizontally on your screen. OSD DOWN/UP: You can choose where you would like the OSD control image to appear vertically on your screen. OSD TURN OFF: The OSD control menu will stay on as long as it is in use. In the OSD Turn Off submenu, you can select how long the monitor waits after the last touch of a button to shut off the OSD control menu. OSD LOCK OUT: This control completely locks out access to all OSD control functions without Brightness, Contrast and Volume. When attempting to activate OSD controls while in the Lock Out mode, a screen will appear indicating the OSD controls are locked out. To activate the OSD Lock Out function, press SELECT, then right control button and hold down simultaneously. To deactivate the OSD Lock Out, press SELECT, then left control button and hold down simultaneously while in the OSD menu. HOT KEY: You can adjust the brightness and volume directly. When this function is set to ON, you can adjust the brightness with left or right control and volume with up or down control while the OSD menu is off. IPM SETTING: The Intelligent Power Manager allows the monitor to enter into a power saving mode after a period of inactivity. The IPM has two settings: STANDARD: Monitor enters power save mode automatically when the input signal is lost. SENSOR: Monitor enters power save mode automatically when the amount of surrounding light goes below the level that is determined by the user. The level can be adjusted in IPM sensor setting. When in power save mode, the LED on the front of the monitor becomes dark blue. While in power save mode, push any of the front buttons, except for POWER and SELECT to return to normal. When the amount of surrounding light returns to normal levels, the monitor will automatically return to normal mode. IPM SENSOR SETTING: Adjust threshold level of sensor result for detect dark condition and show current sensor result in bottom side. Information The Information menu indicates the current input, display resolution, horizontal and vertical frequency, and polarity settings of the monitor. The model and serial numbers of your monitor are also indicated. CARBON SAVINGS: Display the estimated carbon saving information in kg. The carbon footprint factor in the carbon saving calculation is based on the OECD (2008 Edition). The carbon saving information can be reset by pressing the RESET/ECO MODE button. OSD Warning OSD Warning menus disappear with Exit button. NO SIGNAL: This function gives a warning when there is no Horizontal or Vertical Sync. After power is turned on or when there is a change of input signal, the No Signal window will appear. OUT OF RANGE: When input signal is non-supported timing or the video signal doesn’t have proper timing, the Out of Range menu will appear. NOTE:It is possible to change the IPM settings while the “NO SIGNAL” or “OUT OF RANGE” messages are displayed.

English-16 Troubleshooting No picture •The signal cable should be completely connected to the display card/computer. •The monitor does not support DisplayPort converter signal. •The display card should be completely seated in its slot. •Front Power Switch and computer power switch should be in the ON position. •Check to make sure that a supported mode has been selected on the display card or system being used. (Please consult display card or system manual to change graphics mode.) •Check the monitor and your display card with respect to compatibility and recommended settings. •Check the signal cable connector for bent or pushed-in pins. •If the front LED is dark green or dark blue, check the status of the IPM mode (see page 13). Power Button does not respond •Unplug the power cord of the monitor from the AC outlet to turn off and reset the monitor. Image Persistence •Please be aware that LCD Technology may experience a phenomenon known as Image Persistence. Image Persistence occurs when a residual or “ghost” image of a previous image remains visible on the screen. Unlike CRT monitors, LCD monitors’ image persistence is not permanent, but constant images being displayed for a long period of time should be avoided. To alleviate image persistence, turn off the monitor for as long as the previous image was displayed. For example, if an image was on the monitor for one hour and a residual image remains, the monitor should be turned off for one hour to erase the image. NOTE:As with all personal display devices, NEC DISPLAY SOLUTIONS recommends displaying moving images and using a moving screen saver at regular intervals whenever the screen is idle or turning off the monitor when not in use. Message “OUT OF RANGE” is displayed (screen is either blank or shows rough images only) •Image is displayed only roughly (pixels are missing) and OSD warning “OUT OF RANGE” is displayed: Either signal clock or resolution is too high. Choose one of the supported modes. •OSD warning “OUT OF RANGE” is displayed on a blank screen: Signal frequency is out of range. Choose one of the supported modes. Image is unstable, unfocused or swimming is apparent •Signal cable should be completely attached to the computer. •Use the OSD Image Adjust controls to focus and adjust display by increasing or decreasing the fine total. When the display mode is changed, the OSD Image Adjust settings may need to be re-adjusted. •Check the monitor and your display card with respect to compatibility and recommended signal timings. •If your text is garbled, change the video mode to non-interlace and use 60Hz refresh rate. LED on monitor is not lit (no blue or amber colour can be seen) •Power Switch should be in the ON position and power cord should be connected. Picture is not as bright •Make sure ECO MODE and AUTO BRIGHTNESS are turned off. •If the brightness fluctuates make sure AUTO BRIGHTNESS is turned off. Display image is not sized properly •Use the OSD Image Adjust controls to increase or decrease the H. SIZE. •Check to make sure that a supported mode has been selected on the display card or system being used. (Please consult display card or system manual to change graphics mode.) No Video •Make certain the computer is not in a power-saving mode (touch the keyboard or mouse). •Some video cards do not output video signal when monitor is turned OFF/ON or disconnect/connect from the AC power cord under low resolution with DisplayPort. No Sound •Make sure the speaker cable is proper connected. •Check to see if mute is activated. •Check the volume in the OSD menu. •Check selected OSD’s Tools to “SOUND INPUT”, when DisplayPort is in use. Brightness difference during multiple monitor usage •Change Auto Brightness to OFF and adjust brightness. NOTE:When Auto Brightness is set to ON, the monitor automatically adjusts brightness to the environment. When condition is difference, monitor brightness will be difference.
English English-17 Using the Auto Brightness function The brightness of the LCD screen can be set to increase or decrease depending on the amount of ambient light within the room. If the room is bright, the monitor becomes correspondingly bright. If the room is dim, then the monitor will dim accordingly. The purpose of this function is to make the viewing experience more comfortable to the eye in a variety of lighting conditions. The Auto Brightness function is set to 3 by default. SETUP Use the following procedure to select the Brightness Range that the monitor will use when the Auto Brightness function is activated. 1. Set the BRIGHT level. This is the brightness level that the monitor will go up to when the ambient light level is highest. Make sure the room is at its brightest when setting this level. Select “1” or “3” in the AUTO BRIGHTNESS menu (Figure 1). Then use the front buttons to move the cursor up to the BRIGHTNESS setting. Choose the desired brightness level (Figure 2). 2. Set the DARK level. This is the level of brightness that the monitor will go down to when the ambient light level is low. Make sure the room is at its darkest when setting this level. Then use the front buttons to move the cursor up to the BRIGHTNESS setting. Choose the desired brightness level (Figure 3).
