A high pitched alert tone is gener- ated for approximately 1/8 second to indicate that the microcomputer and synthesizer are functioning properly. During transmit, on the release of the PTT button, the radio emits 2 medium pitched chirps. During receive/standby mode, the radio emits 2 medium pitched chirps. These tones emit approxi- mately every 20 minutes during transmit or receive mode until the battery is completely drained of power.
