The following installation instructions are for aright-hingedappliance door. If you have converted the appliance door to be left-hinged, you will need to adapt the instructions accordingly. Tools needed: –a Philips head screwdriver, –various sizes of Torx screwdrivers, –an open-ended wrench. Custom door panels The total weight of the panel(s) must not exceed the following, otherwise the hinges may be damaged: KFN 9753 iD Upper door..................... 31 lbs (14 kg) Lower door..................... 27 lbs (12 kg) Installing the appliance as a room divider If you wish to install the appliance as a room divider, the back of the installation niche must be fitted with a panel, so the back of the appliance is not exposed. Aligning the installation niche Before installing the appliance, the cabinetry must be carefully aligned using a level. The cabinetry corners must be at 90° angles, otherwise the custom door panels will not be flush with all 4 corners of the cabinetry. Installing the appliance 43
Preparing the appliance ^Slide the cover stripa(nobs facing downwards) into the holder. The nobs will fit into the holesb. ^Ensure that the power cord can be easily plugged in once the appliance is installed. ^ Screw the provided fixing bracketsc into the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door using a hex screwd. (If the custom door panel is large, screw on an additional pair of brackets cnear the door handle.)^Push the appliance two-thirds of the way into the installation niche. Ensure that the power cord does not get caught. ^For 16 mm cabinetry walls only: Clip the spacerseandfonto the upper and lower hinges. Installing the appliance 44
^Open the appliance doors. ^Using the screwsh(M5 x 22), screw the plastic bracketgto the door opening. ^ Using the screwsj, loosely secure the fixing bracketionto the appliance. ^ If necessary, shorten the sealing strip kto match the height of the niche. Remove the protective film. ^ Starting at the bottom edge of the fixing bracketi, stick the sealing stripkon so that it is even with the front of the appliance on the side the door opens.Installing the appliance Depending on the thickness of the niche walls, push the appliance in until : – the spacers touch the wallsa[5/8 (16 mm) wall thickness]. or – the front edges of the hinges are flush with the niche wallb[3/4 (19 mm) wall thickness]. ^ Use an open-ended wrench adjust the height-adjustable feet as needed, until the appliance is levelc. ^ Ensure that the plastic bracketdis flush with the front edge of the niche walls. This ensures that a space of 1 5/8 (42 mm) to the front edges of the side walls is kept. Installing the appliance 45
This space must also be taken into account with cabinetry that has a receding base, even if it means that the plastic bracketdwill project beyond the base of the cabinetry. ^If the cabinetry has door stops (i.e. to protect from slamming): pull the appliance forward by distancehso that a space of 1 5/8 (42 mm) is created. The hinges now project by distanceh and the plastic bracketdlines up with the front edge of the hinge. If the required distance of 1 5/8 (42 mm), from the body of the appliance to the front side of the cabinetry side wall, is not observed, the appliance door may not close properly, causing malfunctions. Attaching the appliance to the installation niche ^Push the hinged side of the appliance to the niche wall. ^ Screw the long screwsa (4 x 19 mm) into all of the hinge plates. ^ Open the plastic bracket and screw a long screwb(4 x 19 mm) through the middle of the long hole. ^ Close the plastic bracket. Installing the appliance 46

Installing the appliance 47
^With a pencil, lightly mark a line down the center of the inside of the custom door. ^Hang the fixing bracketdwith the mounting aids on theinsideof the custom door. Align the bracket centrally. ^ Secure the fixing bracket with at least 6 screwse(4 x 14 mm). (For framed doors, use only 4 screws at the edge). ^ Carefully pull the mounting aids up and outf. ^ Turn them around, and fit them into the middle slots of the fixing bracket gfor safe keeping.^Hang the custom door on the adjusting boltsh. ^Loosely attached the nutsconto the adjusting bolts. ^Close the door. Check the distance between the custom door and adjacent cabinetry doors. ^Align the custom door with the adjacent cabinetry doors: Side adjustmentsXare achieved by sliding the cabinetry door. Height adjustmentsYare achieved by turning the adjustment boltsh with a flathead screwdriver. ^ Tighten the nutsc. Installing the appliance 48
Securing the appliance door to the custom door panel ^Secure the fixing bracket using the pre-drilled holesausing the (4 x 14 mm) screwsb. Ensure that the two metal edges are flush (symbol//). – Align depthZon the custom door: Loosen the screws at the top of the appliance doorscand the bottom of the fixing bracketd. Adjust the custom door to create a space of 1/16 (2 mm) between the custom door and the front edge of the niche.^Close both the doors and align them with the adjacent cabinetry doors. ^While holding the adjusting boltsg with a screwdriver, tighten the nutse on the appliance doors using a wrenchf. ^ The cover striphmust not protrude, it must be completely inside in the niche. ^ Re-tighten all the screws. ^ Secure the appliance again at the bottom with a screwithrough the round hole in the plastic bracketj. ^ Close the plastic bracket. Installing the appliance 49
