1.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS — This manual contains
important safety and operating instructions for battery charger Model DC1822. 
2. Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on (1) battery charger, (2) bat-
tery, and (3) product using battery. 
3. CAUTION — To reduce risk of injury, charge only MAKITA Battery. Other types of batteries may burst
causing injury to persons and damage. 
4. Do not expose charger to rain, moisture or snow. 
5. Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the battery charger manufacturer may result in a risk
of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 
6. To reduce risk of damage to cigarette lighter connector and cord, pull by cigarette lighter connector
rather than cord when disconnecting charger. 
7. Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage
or stress. 
8. Do not operate charger with damaged cord or cigarette lighter connector — replace it immediately. 
9. Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way;
take it to a qualified serviceperson. 
10. Do not disassemble charger; take it to a qualified serviceperson when service or repair is required. Incor-
rect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire. 
11. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug charger before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Turning
off controls will not reduce this risk. 
ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR CHARGER & 
BATTERY CARTRIDGE 
1. Do not charge Battery cartridge when temperature is BELOW 10°C (50°F) or ABOVE 40°C (104°F). 
2. This charger can be used in any vehicle having a cigarette lighter socket operated by a 12 volt negative
ground battery. If battery capacity has dropped, start the engine of the vehicle. Charge the battery car-
tridge using this charger while the engine is idling. Do not leave the vehicle while the engine is running. 
3. Do not allow anything to cover the charger. 
4. Always cover the battery terminals with the battery cover when the battery cartridge is not used. 
5. A battery short can cause a large current flow, overheating, possible burns and even a breakdown. 
(1) Do not touch the terminals with any conductive material.  
(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a container with other metal objects such as nails, coins, etc.  
(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water or rain. 
6. Do not store the tool and Battery Cartridge in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed
50°C (122°F). 
7. Do not incinerate the Battery Cartridge even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The bat-
tery cartridge can explode in a fire. 
8. Charge only in a well vented area and Never in an area where gasoline fumes or other combustible mate-
rials are present. Failure to do so may cause an explosion, fire or injury.

Battery cartridge
Charging light
Charging 
Your new battery cartridge is not charged. You will need to charge it before use. Use the high capacity battery
charger Model DC1822 to charge the battery cartridge. 
Plug the high capacity battery charger into the cigarette lighter socket. The charging light will flash in green color. 
Insert the battery cartridge so that the plus and minus terminals on the battery cartridge are on the same sides as
their respective markings on the high capacity battery charger. Insert the cartridge fully into the port so that it rests
on the charger port floor. 
When the battery cartridge is inserted, the charging light color will change from green to red and charging will begin.
The charging light will remain lit steadily during charging. 
When charging is completed, the charging light color will change from red to green. 
The charging time is as follows: 
Battery 7000, 7100, 7120, 9000, 9100, 9120, 1200, 1210, 1220, 1420,  PA09, PA12 and PA14: approx. 30 minutes. 
Battery 7001, 9001, 9101, 9101A, 1201, 1201A and 1211: approx. 40 minutes. 
Battery 7002, 9002, 9102, 9102A, 9122, 1202, 1202A, 1222 and 1422: approx. 45 minutes. 
Battery 7033, 9033, 9133, 1233 and 1433: approx. 50 minutes. 
Battery 9034, 9134, 1234 and 1434: approx. 60 minutes. 
Battery 9135, 1235, 1235F, 1435 and 1435F: approx. 70 minutes. 
Battery 1822: approx. 60 minutes. 
Battery 1833: approx. 65 minutes. 
Battery 1834: approx. 75 minutes.

After charging, unplug the charger from the power source. 
CAUTION: The high capacity battery charger Model DC1822 is for charging Makita-battery cartridge. Never use it for other pur-
poses or for other manufacturer’s batteries. 
When you charge a new battery cartridge or a battery cartridge which has not been used for a long period of time, it
may not accept a full charge. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem. You can recharge the bat-
tery cartridge fully after discharging it completely and recharging a couple of times. 
If you charge a battery cartridge from a just-operated tool or battery cartridge which has been left in a location
exposed to direct sunlight or heat for a long time or use the hot charger, the charging light may flash in red color. If
this occurs, wait for a while. Charging will begin after the battery cartridge and charger cools. The battery cartridge
will cool faster if you remove the battery cartridge from the high capacity battery charger. 
If the charging light flashes alternately in green and red color, or flashes in green color when the battery cartridge is
inserted, a problem exists and charging is not possible. The terminals on the charger are clogged with dust or the
battery cartridge is worn out. 
MAINTENANCE 
CAUTION: 
Always be sure that the charger is unplugged and the battery cartridge is removed before attempting to perform
inspection or maintenance. 
To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance or adjustment should be performed by Makita
Authorized or Factory Service Centers, always using Makita replacement parts.

l’allume-cigare en tirant par la fiche plutôt que par le cordon. 
7. Vérifiez que le cordon est placé de façon que personne ne puisse marcher dessus, se prendre les pieds
dedans, ni l’endommager ou le soumettre à des contraintes. 
8. N’utilisez pas le chargeur si son cordon ou sa fiche d’allume-cigare sont endommagés — remplacez-les
immédiatement. 
9. N’utilisez pas le chargeur s’il a reçu un coup, s’il est tombé ou endommagé de toute autre manière ;
apportez-le à un réparateur qualifié. 
10. Ne démontez pas le chargeur ; si un entretien ou des réparations sont nécessaires, apportez-les à un
réparateur qualifié. Un remontage incorrect pourrait provoquer une décharge électrique ou un feu. 
11. Pour réduire tout risque de décharge électrique, débranchez le chargeur avant tout entretien ou nettoy-
age. Il ne suffit pas de couper les commandes.  
CONSIGNES DE SECURITE SUPPLEMENTAIRES POUR LE 
CHARGEUR ET LES BATTERIES 
1. Ne rechargez pas la batterie si la température est INFERIEURE à 10°C ou SUPERIEURE à 40°C. 
2. Ce chargeur peut être utilisé dans tout véhicule muni d’une prise d’allume-cigare fonctionnant sur une
batterie de 12 volts avec prise de masse négative. Si la charge de la batterie subit une baisse, faites
démarrer le moteur du véhicule. Chargez la batterie à l’aide du chargeur pendant que le moteur fonc-
tionne à faible régime. Ne quittez pas le véhicule pendant que le moteur tourne. 
3. Ne laissez aucun objet recouvrir le chargeur. 
4. Recouvrez toujours les bornes avec le couvre-bornes lorsque la batterie n’est pas utilisée. 
5. Un court-circuit pourrait provoquer un fort débit de courant, une surchauffe, parfois des brûlures et
même une panne. 
(1) Ne touchez pas les bornes avec un matériau conducteur.  
(2) Evitez de ranger la batterie dans un récipient renfermant d’autres objets métalliques, comme des
clous, des pièces de monnaie, etc.  
(3) N’exposez pas la batterie à l’eau ni à la pluie. 
6. Ne rangez pas l’outil ni la batterie dans des endroits où la température risque d’atteindre ou de dépasser
50°C. 
7. Ne jetez pas la batterie au feu, même si elle est gravement endommagée ou complètement hors d’usage.
Elle pourrait exploser. 
8. Ne faites la charge que dans les endroits bien ventilés, et jamais dans les zones où doivent être évitées
les émanations d’essence et autres combustibles. Sinon, il y a risque d’explosion, d’incendie ou de
blessure.

Batterie
Témoin de charge
Charge
Votre nouvelle batterie n’est pas chargée. Vous devez donc la charger avant de l’utiliser. Utilisez le modèle de
chargeur de batterie DC1822 à haut rendement pour charger la batterie. 
Branchez le chargeur à haute capacité dans la prise de l’allume-cigare. Le témoin de charge clignotera en vert. 
Insérez la batterie de telle sorte que ses bornes positive et négative soient situées du même côté que les indications
correspondantes sur le chargeur à haute capacité. Insérez la batterie complètement, de telle sorte qu’elle se trouve
bien au fond du port du chargeur. 
Lorsque la batterie est insérée la couleur de témoin de charge passe du vert au rouge et la charge commence. Le
témoin de charge demeure continuellement allumé pendant la charge. 
Une fois la charge complétée, la couleur du témoin de charge passera du rouge au vert. 
Les temps de charge sont les suivants : 
Batterie 7000, 7100, 7120, 9000, 9100, 9120, 1200, 1210, 1220, 1420,  PA09, PA12 et PA14: environ 30 minutes. 
Batterie 7001, 9001, 9101, 9101A, 1201, 1201A et 1211: environ 40 minutes. 
Batterie 7002, 9002, 9102, 9102A, 9122, 1202, 1202A, 1222 et 1422: environ 45 minutes. 
Batterie 7033, 9033, 9133, 1233 et 1433: environ 50 minutes. 
Batterie 9034, 9134, 1234 et 1434: environ 60 minutes. 
Batterie 9135, 1235, 1235F, 1435 et 1435F: environ 70 minutes. 
Batterie 1822: environ 60 minutes. 
Batterie 1833: environ 65 minutes. 
Batterie 1834: environ 75 minutes. 
Batterie 1835 et 1835F: environ 90 minutes. 
Après la charge, débranchez le chargeur de la prise d’alimentation secteur. 
NOTE : Le chargeur de batterie DC1822 à haut rendement est conçu pour la charge des batteries Makita. Ne jamais l’utiliser
à d’autres fins ou avec les batteries d’autres fabricants. 
Lorsque vous chargez une batterie neuve ou qui est restée inutilisée pendant une longue période, il est possible
qu’elle ne puisse pas être complètement chargée. Il s’agit d’une situation normale, qui n’indique aucune anomalie.
Vous pourrez effectuer une charge optimale de la batterie après l’avoir complètement déchargée puis rechargée à
quelques reprises. 
Si vous chargez la batterie d’un outil qui vient tout juste d’être utilisé, ou une batterie qui a été laissée dans un
endroit exposé aux rayons directs du soleil ou à la chaleur pour une longue période, ou bien si vous utilisez un
chargeur encore chaud, il se peut que le témoin de charge clignote en rouge. Dans ce cas, attendez un instant. La
charge commencera lorsque la batterie ou le chargeur se sera refroidi. La batterie refroidira plus rapidement si vous
la retirez du chargeur à haute capacité. 
Si le témoin de charge clignote alternativement en vert et en rouge, ou s’il clignote en vert lorsque la batterie est
insérée, cela signifie qu’il y a un problème et que la charge n’est pas possible. Les bornes du chargeur sont alors
empoussiérées, ou bien la batterie est usée. 
ENTRETIEN 
ATTENTION : 
Assurez-vous toujours que le chargeur est débranché et que le connecteur de batterie est déconnecté avant d’effec-
tuer une inspection ou un entretien. 
Afin de conserver votre chargeur en BON ETAT DE MARCHE et de SECURITE, l’entretien, les réglages et les répara-
tions doivent être effectués par un atelier agréé ou une agence Makita, et uniquement avec des pièces de rechange
Makita d’origine.

2. Antes de utilizar el cargador de baterías, lea todas las instrucciones e indicaciones de precaución sobre
(1) el cargador de baterías, (2) la batería, y (3) el producto con el que se utilice la batería. 
3. PRECAUCION — Para reducir el riesgo de sufrir heridas, cargue solamente baterías MAKITA. Otros tipos
de baterías podrán reventar y ocasionar heridas personales y daños. 
4. No exponga el cargador a la lluvia, a la humedad ni a la nieve. 
5. La utilización de un accesorio no recomendado o no vendido por el fabricante del cargador de baterías
podrá acarrear un riesgo de incendio, descarga eléctrica o heridas personales. 
6. Para reducir el riesgo de poder dañar el conector de encendedor de cigarrillos y el cable, cuando desen-
chufe el cargador, tire del conector del encendedor de cigarrillos y no del propio cable. 
7. Asegúrese de que el cable quede tendido de forma que no lo pueda pisar, tropezar con él, ni que esté
sometido a daños o fatigas de ningún tipo. 
8. No utilice el cargador si su cable o conector del encendedor de cigarrillos está dañado — reemplácelos
inmediatamente. 
9. No utilice el cargador si ha recibido un fuerte golpe, lo ha dejado caer, o si se ha dañado de cualquier otra
forma; llévelo a un técnico cualificado para que se lo arregle. 
10. No desarme el cargador; llévelos a un técnico cualificado cuando necesiten servicio o reparación. Un
montaje incorrecto de sus piezas podrá acarrear un riesgo de incendio o de descarga eléctrica. 
11. Para reducir el riesgo de que se produzca una descarga eléctrica, desenchufe el cargador antes de inten-
tar efectuar cualquier tipo de mantenimiento o limpieza. El mero hecho de desconectar los controles no

NORMAS DE SEGURIDAD ADICIONALES PARA EL CARGADOR 
Y EL CARTUCHO DE BATERIA 
1. No cargue la herramienta donde la temperatura esté por DEBAJO de los 10°C o por ENCIMA de los 40°C. 
2. Este cargador puede utilizarse en cualquier vehículo que tenga receptáculo de encendedor de cigarrillos
que funcione con una batería de 12 voltios con negativo a masa. Si la capacidad de la batería ha caído,
arranque el motor del vehículo. Cargue el cartucho de batería utilizando este cargador mientras el motor
esté al ralentí. No se aleje del vehículo mientras esté en marcha el motor. 
3. No permita que cosa alguna cubra el cargador. 
4. Tape siempre los terminales de la batería con la tapa de la batería cuando no esté utilizando el cartucho
de batería. 
5. Un cortocircuito en la batería puede producir una gran circulación de corriente, un recalentamiento, posi-
bles quemaduras e incluso una rotura de la misma. 
(1) No toque los terminales con ningún material conductor.  
(2) Evite guardar el cartucho de batería en un cajón junto con otros objetos metálicos, tales como clavos,
monedas, etc.  
(3) No exponga el cartucho al agua ni a la lluvia. 
6. No guarde la herramienta ni el cartucho de batería en lugares donde la temperatura pueda alcanzar o
exceder los 50°C. 
7. No incinere el cartucho de batería incluso en el caso de que esté dañado seriamente o ya no sirva en
absoluto. El cartucho de batería puede explotar en el fuego. 
8. Cargue solamente en un lugar bien ventilado y nunca en uno donde haya vapores de gasolina u otros
materiales combustibles. En caso contrario, podrá ocasionar una explosión, incendio o heridas.

Cartucho de batería

Su nuevo car tucho de batería no está cargado. Deberá cargarlo antes de usarlo. Utilice el cargador rápido modelo
DC1822 para cargarlo. 
Enchufe el cargador rápido en el receptáculo del encendedor de cigarrillos. La luz de carga parpadeará en color
verde. 
Inserte el cartucho de batería de forma que sus bornes positivo y negativo queden en el mismo lado que sus mar-
cas respectivas en el cargador rápido. Inserte completamente el cartucho de batería en el alojamiento de forma que
descanse sobre el fondo del mismo. 
Cuando se haya inser tado el car tucho de batería, el color de la luz de carga cambiará de verde a rojo y comenzará
la carga. La luz de carga se mantendrá encendida durante la carga. 
Cuando se haya completado la carga, el color de la luz de carga cambiará de rojo a verde. 
El tiempo de carga es como sigue: 
Batería 7000, 7100, 7120,  9000, 9100, 9120, 1200, 1210, 1220, 1420,  PA09, PA12 y PA14: aprox. 30 minutos 
Batería 7001, 9001, 9101, 9101A, 1201, 1201A y 1211: aprox. 40 minutos 
Batería 7002, 9002, 9102, 9102A, 9122, 1202, 1202A, 1222 y 1422: aprox. 45 minutos 
Batería 7033, 9033, 9133, 1233 y 1433: aprox. 50 minutos 
Batería 9034, 9134, 1234 y 1434: aprox. 60 minutos 
Batería 9135, 1235, 1235F, 1435 y 1435F: aprox. 70 minutos

Después de finalizar la carga, desenchufe el cargador de la toma de corriente. 
PRECAUCION: El cargador rápido modelo DC1822 es para cargar cartuchos de batería Makita. No lo utilice nunca para otros
propósitos ni para cargar baterías de otros fabricantes. 
Cuando cargue un cartucho de batería nuevo o uno que no haya utilizado durante largo tiempo, éste tal vez no
admita una carga completa. Esto es una condición normal y no denota ningún tipo de problema. El cartucho de bat-
ería podrá cargarse completamente después de repetir unas cuantas veces la operación de descargarlo completa-
mente y volverlo a cargar. 
Si carga un cartucho de batería que justo acaba de utilizar con la herramienta o uno que haya estado expuesto
directamente a la luz solar o calor durante largo tiempo o si utiliza e cargador caliente, la luz de carga podrá par-
padear en color rojo. Si se da el caso, espere durante un rato. La carga comenzará cuando el cartucho de batería se
enfríe. El cartucho de batería se enfriará más rápidamente si lo saca del cargador rápido. 
Si la luz de carga parpadea en color verde y rojo alternativamente, o si parpadea en color verde cuando se inserte
el car tucho de batería, será porque existe un problema, y no será posible efectuar la carga. Los terminales del car-
gador estarán obstruidos a causa del polvo o el cartucho de batería estará inservible. 
MANTENIMIENTO
PRECAUCION: 
Asegúrese siempre que el cargador esté desenchufado y el cartucho de batería retirado antes de intentar realizar la
inspección o mantenimiento. 
Para mantener la SEGURIDAD y FIABILIDAD del producto, las reparaciones y otras tareas de mantenimiento o ajuste
deberán ser realizadas en Centros de Servicio Autorizados de Makita o de Fábrica, empleando siempre repuestos

Every Makita tool is thoroughly inspected and tested before leaving the factory. It is warranted to be free of
defects from workmanship and materials for the period of ONE YEAR from the date of original purchase.
Should any trouble develop during this one-year period, return the COMPLETE tool, freight prepaid, to one of
Makita’s Factory or Authorized Service Centers. If inspection shows the trouble is caused by defective work-
manship or material, Makita will repair (or at our option, replace) without charge.
This Warranty does not apply where:
repairs have been made or attempted by others:
repairs are required because of normal wear and tear:
The tool has been abused, misused or improperly maintained;
alterations have been made to the tool.
