Warning—Potential Damage: To avoid overexposing the imaging units, do not leave the door open for more than 10 minutes. 2Open the internal cover. Maintaining the printer 11
3Push the imaging unit lock lever up and pull out the imaging unit with the toner cartridge attached to it. 4Unpack the replacement imaging unit. 5Peel off the black protective sheet and the toner sealing tape. 6Insert the imaging unit into the printer until it clicks it into place. 7Using both hands, push the sides of the internal cover firmly until the cover clicks into place. 8Unpack the toner cartridge, and then shake it to redistribute the toner. 9Peel off the toner sealing tape. 10Insert the toner cartridge and turn the lock lever to the left. 11Close the front door. Maintaining the printer 13
Replacing a toner cartridge 1Open the front door. Warning—Potential Damage: To avoid overexposing the imaging units, do not leave the door open for more than 10 minutes. 2Turn the toner lock lever to the right and pull the toner cartridge out. 3Unpack the toner cartridge, and then shake it to redistribute the toner. 4Peel off the toner sealing tape. 5Insert the new cartridge into the printer and then turn the toner lock lever to the left. 6Close the front door. Maintaining the printer 15
Replacing the waste toner bottle 1Turn the printer off. 2Open the front door. 3Open the internal cover. 4Pull out the used waste toner bottle. 5Unpack the new waste toner bottle. Maintaining the printer 16
6Insert the new waste toner bottle into the printer. 7Using both hands, push the sides of the internal cover firmly until it clicks into place. 8Close the front door. 9From the printer control panel, reset the Waste Toner Bottle counter in the Supplies menu. Moving the printer Before moving the printerCAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: The printer weight is greater than 18 kg (40 lb) and requires two or more trained personnel to lift it safely. CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: Before moving the printer, follow these guidelines to avoid personal injury or printer damage: •Turn the printer off using the power switch, and then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. •Disconnect all cords and cables from the printer before moving it. •Lift the printer off of the optional drawer and set it aside instead of trying to lift the drawer and printer at the same time. Note: Use the handholds located on both sides of the printer to lift it off the optional drawer.Warning—Potential Damage: Damage to the printer caused by improper moving is not covered by the printer warranty.Moving the printer to another location The printer and options can be safely moved to another location by following these precautions: •Any cart used to move the printer must have a surface able to support the full footprint of the printer. Any cart used to move the options must have a surface able to support the dimensions of the options. •Keep the printer in an upright position. •Avoid severe jarring movements. Shipping the printer When shipping the printer, use the original packaging or call the place of purchase for a relocation kit. Maintaining the printer 18
