Preparation before Use 2-26 Setting the WIA Driver (Windows Vist a™, Windows® Server 2008 and Windows 7) Register this machine to the WIA Driver. NOTE: The following is not necessary to register when using the machine possesses an IP address or host name that you have specified during installation of WIA Driver. 1Click Start, Control Panel and then Scanners and Cameras . For Windows 7, in the search box, type scanners and cameras , and then click Scanners and Cameras . 2Select the same name as this machine from WIA Drivers, and press Properties. NOTE: If Windows Security and User Account Control are displayed, no trouble should be found with operation after installing the driver and software we have provided. Continue installation. 3Click the Settings tab and select Image Compression and the Compression Level . If user login administration is invalid, go to Step 5. NOTE: When the machines IP address is unknown, contact Administrator. 4Select the checkbox beside Authentication, enter Login User Name (up to 64 characters) and Password (up to 64 characters) and then click OK. Preparation before Use 2-28 COMMAND CENTER (Settings for E-mail) COMMAND CENTER is a tool used for tasks such as verifyin g the operating status of the machine and changing the settings for security, network printing, E -mail transmission and advanced networking. NOTE: Here, information on the FAX settings has been omitted. For more information on using the FAX, refer to the FAX Operation Guide . FAX functions available only in FS-3140MFP. The procedure for accessing COMMAND CENTER is explained below. 1Launch your Web browser. 2In the Address or Location bar, enter the machine’s IP address. E.g.) http://192.168.48.21/ The web page displays basic information about the ma chine and COMMAND CENTER as well as their current status. 3Select a category from the navigation bar on the left of the screen. The values for each category must be set separately. Enter the correct password to access pages other than the startup page. The default setting is admin00. The password can be changed. 2 Preparation before Use 2-29 Sending E-mail Specifying the SMTP settings allows you to send images loaded onto this machine as E-mail attachments. To use this function, this machine must be conn ected to a mail server using the SMTP protocol. Before sending images loaded onto this machine as E-mail attachments, check the following: • The network environment used to connect this machine to the mail server A full-time connection via a LAN is recommended. • SMTP Settings Use COMMAND CENTER to register the IP ad dress or host name of the SMTP server. • If limits have been set on the size of E-mail messages, it may not be possible to send very large E-mails. • Sender address The procedure for specifying the SMTP settings is explained below. 1Click Advanced -> SMTP -> General. Preparation before Use 2-30 2Enter the correct settings in each field. The settings to be specified in the SMTP settings screen are shown below. 3Click Submit. Item Description SMTP Protocol Enables or disables SMTP protocol. To use E-mail, this protocol must be enabled. SMTP Port Number Set the SMTP Port Number or use the SMTP default port 25. SMTP Server Name Enter the SMTP server IP address or its name. The maximum length of the SMTP server name and IP address is 64 characters. If entering the name, a DNS server address must also be configured. The DNS server address may be entered on the TCP/IP General tab. SMTP Server Timeout Enter the default time out for the server in seconds. Authentication Protocol Enables or disables the SMTP authentication protocol or sets POP before SMTP as the protocol. The SMTP authenticat ion supports Microsoft Exchange 2000. Authenticate as Authentication can be set from three POP3 accounts or you can choose a different account. Login User Name When Other is selected for Authentica te, the login user name set here will be used for SMTP authentication. The maximum length of the login user name is 64 characters. Login Password When Other is selected for Authenticate, the password set here will be used for authentication. The maximum length of the login password is 64 characters. POP before SMTP Timeout Enter the timeout (in seconds) if you chose POP before SMTP as the Authentication Protocol. Test This will test if the SMTP connecti on can be successfully established. E-mail Size Limit Enter the maximum size of E-mail that can be sent in kilobytes. When the value is 0, the limitation for E-mail size is disabled. Sender Address Enter the E-mail address of the person responsible for the machine, such as the machine administrator, so that a reply or non-deliv ery report will go to a person rather than to the machine. The sender address must be entered correctly for SMTP authentication. The maximum length of the sender address is 128 characters. Signature Enter the signature. Th e signature is free form text that will app ear at the end of the E-mail body. It is often used for furt her identification of the machine. The maximum length of the signa ture is 512 characters. Domain Restriction Enter the domain names that can be permi tted or rejected. The maximum length of the domain name is 32 characters. You can also specify E-mail addresses. 2 Preparation before Use 2-31 Sharing PC Folder To use Scan to SMB (PC) function, a shared folder must be set up with the destination computer to receive data. IMPORTANT: To use Scan to SMB (PC) function, the machin e must be connected to a TCP/IP network. The next section explains how to send data to a domain controlled computer. Configuring Windows Firewall (for Windows Vista) If the destination of files is a Windows Vista-based comp uter, you must configure Windows Firewall exceptions. With exceptions, enable file and printer sharing and add a port you want use for the Scan to SMB (PC). IMPORTANT: Log on to Windows with administrator privileges. 1On the Windows Firewall Settings dialog box, click the Exceptions tab. From the Start menu, select Control Panel and click Allow a program through Windows Firewall . 2At the User Account Control consent prompt, click Continue. 3Click the checkbox under File and Printer Sharing, then click Apply. 4Click OK . Creating Shared Folder Create a shared folder to receive data in the destination computer. Share the folder by enabling folder sharing on a normal folder. The following example explains how to create a folder named scannerdata on drive C. IMPORTANT: Log on to Windows with administrator privileges. NOTE: The following description is one example of screenshots of Windows XP. The details differ depending on the type of operating system. 1Create a folder named scannerdata on drive C. Preparation before Use 2-32 2Right-click the scannerdata folder and select Sharing and Security.... The scannerdata Properties dialog box appears. 3Select Share this folder . 4Click Permissions. The Permissions for scannerdata dialog box appears. 5Select the group or user to whom you want to grant permissions for the shared folder. NOTE: The following example explains how to grant permissions for Everyone. Everyone is the setting that allows any users to share the fold er over the network. Click Add to add groups or users that are selectable from the Group or user names. Use this setting if you want to limit the access to the shared folder to specific users or groups. 6Click the checkbox under Allow for Change and Read , then click OK of the Permissions dialog box. 7Click the Security tab, then click Add. 8Add the user name displayed in the Group or user names. Click Add, then click Locations. Select the computer to which the shared folder was created (Example: PC4050) and then click OK . 9Enter the user name added as a local user into the text box and click OK. 10Select the added user, click the checkbox under Allow for Modify and Read, then click OK. 2 Preparation before Use 2-33 11Click OK to close the Properties dialog box. Specifying Destination Check the computer information required to enter on the to uch panel when sending a file. The information you require to check using the computer is: • Entry for Host Name • Entry for Path • Entry for Login User Name Checking the Entry for Host Name Check the name of the destination computer. 1Right-click My Computer and select Properties. The System Properties dialog box appears. 2Click the Computer Name tab to view the name of computer. If the Computer Name tab contains Full computer name and Domain The characters to the left of the first dot (.) in the Full computer name text box correspond to the entry for Host Name. (Example: pc4050) If the Computer Name tab contains Full computer name and Workgroup All characters in the Full computer name text box correspond to the entr y for Host Name. Preparation before Use 2-34 Checking the Entry for Path Check the share name for the shared folder to which data is sent. 1Click Search in the Start menu. The Search Result page opens. 2Search the destination computer to which the file is sent. In the Search Companion , click Printers, Computers , or people , and then click A computer on the network . 3On the Computer name text box, type the name of computer (p c4050) you checked on page 25, and then click Search . 4Double-click the name of computer (pc4050) displayed on the search results. 5Double-click the scannerdata folder and check the full path displayed in the Address Bar. The characters to the right of the third backslash (\) correspond to the entry for Path. (Example: scannerdata) NOTE: You must use alphabets, numerals, and symbols (ASCII codes from 0 x 20 to 0 x 7F) only to enter Path. You can specify a subfolder in the shared folder as the location where data is to be sent. In this case, the entry for Path is share name ame of a folder in the shared folder. In the sample window above, scannerdata\projectA corresponds to Path. Checking the Entry for PathName You can use the following steps to check the domain name and user name that must be entered in Login User Name. 1Open the Command Prompt window.
