NOTE: Pictures taken at the 4.4 MP (3:2) quality setting are displayed at a 3:2 aspect ratio with a black bar at the top of the screen. (See Picture Size, page 22.) Removing all favorites from your camera 1Turn the Mode dial to Favorites . 2Press the Menu button. 3Highlight , then press the OK button. All pictures stored in the Favorites section of internal memory are removed. Favorites are restored to your camera the next time you transfer pictures to the computer. To remove single favorites, do so in EasyShare software. 4Press the Menu button to exit the menu. Preventing favorites from transferring to the camera 1Open the Kodak EasyShare software. Click the My Collection tab. 2Go to the Albums view. 3Click the Camera Favorites Album for your camera. 4Click Remove Album. The next time you transfer pictures from your camera to the computer, use the Camera Favorites Wizard/Assistant in EasyShare software to recreate your Camera Favorites Album or to turn off the Camera Favorites feature. Press to locate a picture. 2Press the Share button. 3Highlight Print or Email , then press the OK button. Failure to do so may cause the software to install incorrectly. Transferring pictures/videos with the USB cable 1Turn off the camera. 2Plug the labeled end of the USB cable into the labeled USB port on your computer. See your computer user’s guide for details. 3Plug the other end of the USB cable into the labeled USB port on the camera. 4Turn on the camera. EasyShare software opens on your computer. 47www.kodak.com/go/support Transferring and printing pictures Printing pictures Printing with a Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3 Dock your camera with an EasyShare printer dock series 3 and print with or without a computer! (See Dock compatibility for your camera, page 49.) Direct printing with a PictBridge enabled printer Your camera features PictBridge technology, so you can print directly to PictBridge enabled printers. You need: Connecting the camera to a PictBridge enabled printer 1Turn off the camera and printer. 2Optional: If you have a Kodak 5-volt AC adapter (optional accessory), plug it into the camera and into an electrical outlet. IMPORTANT: Do not use the AC adapter included with the Kodak EasyShare camera dock or printer dock to power your camera. 3Connect the appropriate USB cable from the camera to the printer. (See your printer user guide for details. See www.kodak.com/go/z730accessories to order cables.) Printing from a PictBridge enabled printer 1Turn on the printer. Turn on the camera. The PictBridge logo is displayed, followed by the current picture and menu. (If no pictures are found, a message is displayed.) If the menu interface turns off, press any button to redisplay it. 2Press to choose a printing option, then press the OK button. Current Picture—Press to choose a picture. Transferring and printing pictures www.kodak.com/go/support 48 Tagged Pictures—If your printer is capable, print pictures that you tagged for printing and choose a print size. Index Print —Print thumbnails of all pictures. This requires one or more sheets of paper. If the printer is capable, choose a print size. All Pictures —Print all pictures in internal memory, on a card, or in Favorites. Choose the number of copies. Image Storage —Access internal memory, a card, or Favorites. NOTE: During direct printing, pictures are not permanently transferred or saved to the computer or printer. Disconnecting the camera from a PictBridge enabled printer 1Turn off the camera and printer. 2Disconnect the USB cable from the camera and the printer. Camera problems Status Cause The camera does not turn on ■Remove, then reinsert the battery. ■Insert a charged battery. ■Place the camera on a Kodak EasyShare camera or printer dock (sold separately), then try again. ■Connect the camera to a Kodak 5-volt AC adapter (sold separately), then try again. See page 1 for more battery information. The camera does not turn off and the lens does not retract Camera buttons and controls do not function The camera screen does not turn on ■In any capture mode, press the Display/Info button. ■Turn the camera off, then on again. To change the camera screen setting so that it is on whenever the camera is on, see Liveview (Auto), page 26. In Review, a blue or black screen is displayed instead of a picture ■Transfer the picture to the computer. ■Tra ns f e r all pictures to the computer. See page 46. The pictures remaining number does not decrease after taking a picture ■Continue taking pictures. The camera is operating normally. Flash does not fire ■Check flash setting, and change as needed (page 15). Battery life is short ■Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry cloth before inserting a battery in the camera. ■Insert a charged battery (page 2). You cannot take a picture ■Turn the camera off, then on again. ■Depress the shutter button all the way (page 6). ■Insert a charged battery (page 2). ■Wait until the ready light is green before attempting to take another picture. ■Transfer pictures to the computer (page 46), delete pictures from the camera (page 33), switch image storage locations (page 25), or insert a card with available memory (page 5). ■If the camera is in Favorites mode, turn the Mode dial to a different mode. Status Cause The computer does not communicate with the camera ■Turn on the camera. ■Insert a charged battery (page 2). ■Make sure the USB cable is securely connected on the camera and the computer port (page 46). ■Make sure the EasyShare software is installed (page 39). NOTE: This camera is not supported by Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x. You may capture pictures on a card, then use a card reader to transfer them to the computer. Troubleshooting www.kodak.com/go/support 52 Picture quality problems Slide Show does not run on an external video device■Adjust the camera Video Out setting (NTSC or PAL, page 28). ■Make sure the external device settings are correct (see the device’s user’s guide). Status Cause The picture is too dark or underexposed ■Use Fill flash (page 15) or change your position so light is not behind the subject. ■Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (page 15). ■To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the ready light glows green, press the Shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture. ■Decrease the shutter speed or increase the ISO speed (page 13). The picture is too light ■Turn the flash off (page 15). ■Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (see page 15). ■To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the ready light glows green, press the Shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture. ■Increase the shutter speed or decrease the ISO speed (page 13). The picture is not clear ■To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the ready light glows green, press the Shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture. ■Clean the lens (page 59). ■Make sure the camera is not in Close-up mode if you are more than 23.7 in. Ready light glows steady orange.Camera is in Favorites mode. Ready light blinks orange.Flash is not charged. Wait. Resume picture taking when the light stops blinking and turns off. Auto-exposure or auto-focus are not locked. Release the Shutter button and recompose the picture. Ready light blinks red and camera turns off.Battery is low or exhausted. Recharge the battery (page 1). Ready light glows steady red.Camera’s internal memory or card is full. Transfer pictures to the computer (page 46), delete pictures from the camera (page 33), switch image storage locations (page 25), or insert a card with available memory (page 5). Camera processing memory is full. Wait. Resume picture taking when the light turns green. Card is read-only. Change image storage location to internal memory (page 25), or use a different card. Memory card speed is slow. Card cannot be used to take videos. Change storage location to internal memory (page 25). Use this card to take pictures only.
