Se C tIon \f Helpful Hints
Plu\f B\bewe\b into its own \f\bounded outlet — If the electric circuit is
overloaded \fith other appliances, your Bre\fer may not function properly.
The Bre\fer should be operated on its o\fn circuit, separate from other
    appliances.
i nitial Cleansin\f B\bew — Before you use your Bre\fer for the first time,
perform an initial cleansing bre\f by running clean \fater through the bre\f
    cycle \fithout using a K-Cup
    ® portion pack.
One Cup at a Time — Your ne\f Bre\fer makes one fresh beverage at a time.
You’ll need to add fresh \fater each time you bre\f. Unlike other Keurig
Bre\fers, the B31 does not store \fater in the reservoir.
The Ri\fht Wate\b Makes a Diffe\bence — For the best tasting gourmet coffee,
tea or hot cocoa, Keurig recommends using bottled or filtered \fater. We
do not recommend using distilled or reverse osmosis \fater. Water quality
varies from place to place. If you notice an undesirable taste in your cup of
coffee such as chlorine or other mineral taste, \fe recommend you consider
using bottled \fater or \fater from a filtration system.
    Customize you\b Size, Flavo\b & B\bew — With the choice of over 200 varieties
of K-Cups and multiple fill levels, your Bre\fer gives you endless options to
customize the size, flavor and strength that’s perfect for you. For a strong,
intense cup, select an Extra Bold K-Cup (\fith up to 30% more ground coffee
than regular varieties) and bre\f size that’s right for you. The less \fater you
use, the more intense flavor in your cup. The more \fater you use, the less
intense flavor in your cup.  To guide you, the Bre\fer includes a Water Level Guide located inside

the Cold Water Reservoir. The Water Level Guide is removable to make
    cleaning easy.
B\bewin\f into a tall mu\f — To bre\f into a tall mug, simply remove the Drip Tray
Assembly and place the tall mug on the Drip Tray Base.
The D\bip T\bay — Any liquid overflo\f (from your cup or the Cold Water
Reservoir) \fill be caught in the Drip Tray. Be sure to empty the Drip Tray
\fhen the red Drip Tray Overflo\f Indicator pops up. The Drip Tray has a snug
fit to ensure it stays put in transit.
Automatic Shut Off — Your Bre\fer \fill shut off automatically \fhen it is idle for
longer than 90 seconds. Simply press the Po\fer Button to restart.
    Clean You\b B\bewe\b Re\fula\bly — To keep your Bre\fer looking and performing
its best, be sure to clean the external and internal components on a regular
basis. See page 12 for more information.
De-Scalin\f — \bineral content in \fater varies from place to place. Depending
on the mineral content of the \fater in your area, calcium deposits or scale
may build up in your Bre\fer. Scale is non-toxic, but left unattended, it can
hinder Bre\fer performance. De-scaling your Bre\fer helps maintain the
heating element and other internal parts of the Bre\fer that come in contact
\fith \fater. See page 15 for more information.
Sto\bin\f — When storing your Bre\fer, carefully empty the Drip Tray and make
sure both the Cold Water Reservoir and Internal Hot Water Tank are empty.
Store your Bre\fer upright in a safe, dry, frost-free environment. See page 14
    for more information.
