6 PreparationThe speakers for DD-8 must be assembled to the speaker stands before the speakers can be connected to the subwoofer. Follow the diagrams below. Left and right speakers ■ CAUTION • The left and right speakers for DD-8 are consid- erably heavy. Care must be taken in carrying and handling them. 11 Preparation ■ CAUTION • An incorrect connection may damage the speak- ers. Properly connect t he cables to the speaker terminals. • Do not short-circuit the ª and · speaker termi- nals. Doing so may damage the main unit. • The supplied speakers are manufactured exclu- sively for use with the supplied main unit as parts of the DD-8/DD-3/ DD-1 system. 12 Preparation DD-8 and DD-3 can output uncompressed digital video signals to a TV compatible with HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface). NOTE • When using an HDMI cable to connect a TV to the main unit, select “HDMI” for the monitor out type. (Refer to page 14.) • DD-8 and DD-3 support up to HDMI version 1.0. 13 Preparation ■ CAUTION • Connect the main unit directly to a TV (or a mon- itor) without routing through a video cassette recorder (VCR). Otherw ise picture distortion may occur during playback. (Routing the con- nection through a VCR, however, does not affect the audio quality.) • Connecting the main unit to a VCR-built-in-TV may also cause picture distortion during play- back.
