Chapter 5. On-Screen Display menu controls This projector has an On-Screen Display that lets you make image adjustments and change various settings. Note: Yo u must have a display on the screen in order to access the OSD. Navigating the OSD Yo u can use the remote control or the buttons on the top of the projector to navigate and make changes to the OSD. The following sections show the menu options in the OSD. Setting the OSD language Yo u may want to reference the OSD on your projector while reading this section. Set the OSD language to your preference before continuing by following the steps below. 1. Press the Menu button. The Quality menu appears. 2. Press the cursor left/right button until Language is highlighted. 3. Press the cursor up/down button until the language you want is highlighted. 4. Press theEnter button to select the language. 5. Press the Menu button twice to close the OSD. Quality menu Follow the steps below to access the Quality menu. 1. 2. Press the cursor left/right button to move to the Quality menu. 3. Press the cursor up/down button to move up and down in the Quality menu. The following table shows the options that you will see in the Quality menu and the default. Item Description Default Brightness Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the brightness. Range: 0 to 100 50 Contrast Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the contrast. Range: 0 to 100 50 Sharpness Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the display sharpness. Range: 1 to 5 3 Color Temperature Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the color temperature. Range: Cool/Normal/Warm Normal Color Saturation Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the video saturation. Properties menu Follow the steps below to access the Properties menu. 1. Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu. 2. Press the cursor left/right button to move into the Properties menu. 3. Press the cursor up/down button to move up and down within the Properties menu. The following table show the options that you will see in the Properties menu and the default. Item Description Default Horizontal Position Press the cursor left/right button to move the image left or right. Range: 0 to 100 50 Vertical Position Press the cursor left/right button to move the image up or down. Range: 0 to 100 50 Keystone Press the cursor left/right button to correct distortion of the projected image. Range: -50 to 50 0 Aspect Ratio Press the cursor left/right button to toggle between the 4:3 standard format and 16:.9 High Definition TV (HDTV) format. 4:3 Cancel Resets Keystone and Aspect Ratio to default values. Options menu To access the Options menu, follow the steps below. 1. Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu. 2. Press the cursor left/right button to move to the Options menu. 3. Press the cursor up/down button to move up and down in the Options menu. The following table shows the options that you will see in the Options menu and the default. Item Description Default Blank Screen Press the cursor left/right button to select a background color for blank screen. Range: Black, Red, Green, Blue, White Blue Auto Source Press the cursor left/right button to enable or disable automatic source detection. Range: On/Off On Auto Power Off Press the cursor left/right button to enable or disable automatic shut-down of lamp after 10 minutes of inactivity. Range: Left, Right, Center, Down, Up Center Menu Display Press the cursor left/right button to determine timeout delay of OSD. Range: 10 to 20 seconds 15 Translucent Menu Press the cursor left/right button to set menu screen translucency. Range: On/Off Off Cancel Resets all Options screen items to default values. Video Type is only active when the input source is Video or S-video Range: Auto, NTSC, PAL, SECAM Auto Video Automatic Grain Control (AGC) Press the cursor left/right button to enable or disable automatic grain control for video source. Video AGC is only active when the input source is Video or S-video Range: On/Off On Projection Press the cursor left/right button to choose from four projection methods: v Desktop mount, front of screen v Desktop mount, rear of screen v Ceiling mount, front of screen v Ceiling mount, rear of screen Desktop mount, front of screen Frequency Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the A/D sampling clock. Frequency is only active when the input source is Analog RGB. Range: 0 to 100 Auto detected Tracking Press the cursor left/right button to adjust the A/D sampling number. Tracking is only active when the input source is Analog RGB. Range: 0 to 100 Auto detected Cancel Resets Video Type, Video AGC, and Projection to default values. N/A Chapter 5. Information menu Follow the steps below to access the Information menu. 1. Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu. 2. Press the cursor left/right button to move to the Information menu. 3. Press the cursor up/down button to move up and down in the Information menu. The following table shows the options that you will see in the Information menu and a brief description. Item Description Video Information Displays the resolution and refresh rate of the connected video device. Active Source Information about active source Software Version Information about software revisions. Appendix A. Maintenance This chapter provides information on projector maintenance. Cleaning the lens To clean the lens, complete the following procedure: 1. Apply a non-abrasive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry cloth. Note: Avoid using an excessive amount of cleaner, and do not apply the cleaner directly to the lens. Abrasive cleaners, solvents or other harsh chemicals might scratch the lens. 2. Lightly wipe the cleaning cloth over the lens in a circular motion. If you do not intend to use the projector immediately, replace the lens cap. Replacing the projection lamp Use only a replacement lamp with the same type and rating as the original lamp. Contact your IBM representative for information or go to www.ibm.com/pc. Note: Turn off the projector, unplug the power cord, and allow the projector to cool for at least 1 hour before attempting to replace the lamp. To replace the projector lamp, complete the following procedure: 1. Loosen the screw on the lamp compartment cover as shown. 2. 3. Remove the two screws from the lamp module as shown. 4. Lift the module handle up as shown. 5. Pull firmly on the module handle to remove the lamp module as shown. 6. Reverse steps 1 to 5 to install the new lamp module. A-2 IBM E400 PROJECTOR: User ’s Guide
