3 Navigation Control You can choose camera settings by pressing the 4-way control or the button. Left/Macro: 1. Scrolls left in menus. • Activates Macro mode or Auto Focus mode. • Up: 2. Flash Button 4. Down Button Attaching the Wrist Strap Insert the short loop of the strap in the strap 1. eyelet. Thread the larger loop of the strap though the 2. short loop and pull tight to attach the strap to the camera. Inserting the Battery Please read “Battery Information” on page v before inserting/removing batteries. Make sure the power is off before inserting the batteries. 1. Inserting an SD/SDHC Memory Card Open the battery compartment 1. at the bottom of the camera. 5 Charging the Battery The battery that comes along with your package is not charged. You need to charge the battery before using the camera.Insert the battery into the battery 1. charger as shown. Connect the power cord to the battery 2. charger. Plug the power cord to the main outlet. 3. The battery charging time is 2 hours. The battery icon on the LCD monitor indicates the battery level. Initial Settings You will be prompted to set up the language and the date and time when the camera is turned on for the first time. Setting the Language Press 1. , , or to move through the selection. Modes Your camera has two modes: Shooting mode Set to Shooting mode to capture images and record videos and audio clips. • Shooting mode can be further set to mode options like auto, movie and scene selection • modes. See “Selecting the Shooting mode options” below. Playback mode Set your camera to Playback mode to view and edit captured images and playback videos • and audio clips. You can also attach voice memo to images in this mode. When you turn on your camera using the Power button, you are automatically turned on to Shooting mode. Switching between Shooting mode and Playback Mode In Shooting mode, press the Play button to switch to Playback mode. In Playback mode, press the Play button to switch back to Shooting mode. Selecting the Shooting mode options The mode options allow you to capture images with preset settings according to scene conditions. Set the camera to Shooting mode. 1.
