Power button board DescriptionSpare part number Power button board (includes cable) 486796-001 Before removing the power button board, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 52). 5.Remove the switch cover and keyboard (see Switch cover and keyboard on page 69). Remove the power button board: 1.Turn the switch cover upside down with the front toward you. 2.Remove the Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screw (1) that secures the power button board to the switch cover. 3.Remove the power button board (2) and cable. Speaker assembly DescriptionSpare part number Speaker assembly486801-001 Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. Bluetooth module NOTE:The Bluetooth module spare part kits do not include a Bluetooth module cable. The Bluetooth module cable is available using spare part number 489822-001. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 52). 5.Disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 65). 6.Remove the switch cover and keyboard (see Switch cover and keyboard on page 69). 7.Remove the speaker assembly (see Speaker assembly on page 74). 2.Remove the WLAN antenna cables from the clips (3) built into the top cover. CAUTION:Support the display assembly when removing the following screws. Failure to support the display assembly can result in damage to the display assembly and other computer components. 3.Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws (1) that secure the display assembly to the computer. 4.Remove the display assembly (2). NOTE:Steps 5 through 22 provide display assembly internal component removal information for computer models equipped with AntiGlare display assemblies. See steps 23 through 32 for display assembly internal component removal information for computer models equipped with BrightView display assemblies. 5.If it is necessary to replace the display enclosure or any of the display assembly internal components, remove the following screw covers and screws: (1) Two rubber screw covers on the display bezel bottom edge. The display rubber screw covers are included in the Display Rubber Kit, spare part number 486537-001. (2) Two Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws. 6.Turn the display assembly upside down, with the bottom toward you. 7.Release the display enclosure (1) by sliding the enclosure toward the top of the display assembly. 8.Lift the display enclosure (2) as far as the display logo cable allows. 9.Disconnect the display logo cable (3) from the display panel cable. 10.Remove the display enclosure. The display enclosure is available using spare part number 485345-001, and includes the display logo LED board and the wireless antenna transceivers and cables. 11.If it is necessary to replace the webcam/microphone module, remove the Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screw (1) that secures the module to the display bezel. 78 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
12.Release the webcam/microphone module (2) as far as the webcam/microphone module cable allows. 13.Disconnect the webcam/microphone module cable (3) from the webcam/microphone module. 14.Remove the webcam/microphone module. The webcam/microphone module is available using spare part number 485345-001. 15.If it is necessary to replace the display inverter, remove the four Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws (1) that secure the display inverter cover to the display bezel. 16.Remove the display inverter cover (2) by lifting it straight up. The display inverter cover is available using spare part number 486792-001. 17.Release the display inverter (1) as far from the display bezel as far as the display panel cable and backlight cable allow. 18.Disconnect the display panel cable (2) and backlight cable (3) from the display inverter. 19.Remove the display inverter. The display inverter is available using spare part number 488317-001. 20.If it is necessary to replace the display hinges, remove the four Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws (1) that secure the display hinges to the display panel. 21.Remove the display hinge (2) by lifting it straight up. The display hinge is available using spare part number 485340-001. NOTE:Steps 23 through 32 provide display assembly internal component removal information for computer models equipped with BrightView display assemblies. See steps 5 through 22 for display assembly internal component removal information for computer models equipped with AntiGlare display assemblies. 22.If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly internal components, remove the following screw covers and screws: (1) Two rubber screw covers on the display bezel bottom edge. The display rubber screw covers are included in the Display Rubber Kit, spare part number 480442-001. (2) Two Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws. 23.Flex the inside edges of the top edge (1), the left and right sides (2), and the bottom edge of the display bezel (3) until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure. 24.Remove the display bezel (4). The display bezel is available using the spare part number 486532-001. 25.If it is necessary to replace the display inverter, release the display inverter (1) as far from the display enclosure as far as the display panel cable and backlight cable allow. 26.Disconnect the display panel cable (2) and the backlight cable (3) from the display inverter. 27.Remove the display inverter. The display inverter is available using spare part number 488317-001. 28.If it is necessary to replace the display panel, remove the six Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws (1) that secure the display panel to the display enclosure. 29.Remove the display panel (2). Display panels are available using spare part numbers 484363-001 (WSXGA+ BrightView display panel) and 484364-001 (WXGA BrightView display panel). 30.If it is necessary to replace the display hinges, remove the six Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (1) that secure each display hinge to the display panel. 82 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
