    Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
    4.Remove the battery (see 
    Battery on page 43).
    5.Disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (see 
    WLAN module on page 45).
    6.Remove the following components:
    a.Keyboard (see 
    Keyboard on page 54)
    b.Switch cover (see 
    Switch cover on page 57)
    c.Top cover (see 
    Top cover on page 58)
    Remove the display assembly:
    1.Close the computer.
    2.Turn the computer upside down, with the rear panel toward you.
    3.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws (1) that secure the display assembly to the computer.

    							4.Remove the WLAN antenna cables from the channel (2) located between the wireless module
    compartment and the memory module compartment.
    5.Turn the computer right-side up, with the rear panel toward you.
    6.Open the computer as far as possible.
    7.Disconnect the display panel cable (1) from the system board and remove the cable from the cavity
    between the system board and the display left hinge.
    8.Disconnect the webcam/microphone module cable (2) from the system board.
    9.Remove the WLAN antenna cables (3) from the clips and routing channel built into the top cover.
    CAUTION:Support the display assembly when removing the following screws. Failure to support
    the display assembly can result in damage to the display assembly and other computer
    components.
    10.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws (1) that secure the display assembly to the computer.

    							11.Remove the display assembly (2).
    12.If it is necessary to replace any of the display assembly internal components, remove the two rubber
    screw covers (1) on the display bezel bottom edge. The rubber screw covers are included in the
    Display Rubber Kit, spare part number 468802-001 for dv3000 models, 500966-001 for dv3500
    models with an LCD display, and 502460-001 for dv3500 models with an LED display.
    13.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the display bezel to the display
    assembly.
    14.Flex the inside edges of the left and right sides (1) and the top and bottom edges (2) of the display
    bezel until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.

    							15.Remove the display bezel (3). The display bezel is available using spare part number 468797-001
    on dv3000 models, 500953-001 on dv3500 models with an LCD display, and 500954-001 on
    dv3500 models with an LED display.
    16.If it is necessary to replace the webcam/microphone module, release the module (1) as far as the
    webcam/microphone module allows.
    17.Disconnect the webcam/microphone module cable from the module (2).
    18.Remove the webcam/microphone module. The webcam/microphone module is available using
    spare part number 468804-001 for dv3000 models, 500967-001 for dv3500 models.
    19.If it is necessary to replace the display inverter, release the inverter (1) as far as the display panel
    cable and the backlight cable will allow.

    							20.Disconnect the display panel cable (2) and the backlight cable (3) from the display inverter.
    21.Remove the inverter. The display inverter is available using spare part number 468798-001 for
    dv3000 models, 500957-001 for dv3500 models.
    22.If it is necessary to replace the display panel, disconnect the display logo LED board cable (1) from
    the display panel cable.
    23.Remove the six Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the panel to the display enclosure.
    24.Remove the display panel (3) from the display enclosure. The display panel is available using the
    spare part number 468796-001 for dv3000 models, 496105-001 for dv3500 models with an LCD
    display, and 496106-001 for dv3500 models with an LED display.
    25.If it is necessary to replace the display hinges, remove the three Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) that
    secure each hinge to the display panel.

    							26.Remove the display hinges (2) from the display panel. The display hinges are available using spare
    part number 468799-001 for dv3000 models, 500959-001 for dv3500 models with an LCD display,
    500960-001 for dv3500 models with an LED display.
    27.If it is necessary to replace the wireless antenna transceivers and cables, remove the Phillips
    PM2.5×4.0 screw (1) that secures the left transceiver to the display enclosure.
    28.Detach the wireless antenna transceivers (2) from the display enclosure.
    29.Remove the wireless antenna cables from the clips (3) built into the display enclosure.
    30.Remove the wireless antenna transceivers and cables from the display enclosure. The wireless
    antenna transceivers and cables are available in the Display Cable Kit, spare part number
    468800-001 for dv3000 models, 500961-001 for dv3500 models with an LCD display, 500962-001
    for dv3500 models with an LED display.

    							31.If it is necessary to replace the webcam/microphone module cable, remove the cable from the
    display enclosure. The webcam/microphone module cable is available using spare part number
    468805-001.
    NOTE:The webcam/microphone module cable is attached to the display enclosure with double-
    sided tape.
    Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install the display assembly.

    							System board
    NOTE:All system board spare part kits include replacement thermal material.

    Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
    1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
    computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
    3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
    then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

    5.Remove the following components:

    When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective
    system board and installed on the replacement system board:

    							Remove the system board:
    1.Disconnect the speaker cable (1) and the Bluetooth module cable (2) from the system board.
    2.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (1) that secure the system board to the base enclosure.
    3.Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (2) that secure the power connector to the base
    enclosure.
    4.Remove the power connector (3) and the RJ11 jack (4) from the clips in the base enclosure.
    5.Flex the right side of the base enclosure (1) above the USB port and RJ45 jack.

    							6.Use the optical drive connector (2) to lift right side of the system board (3) until the USB port and
    RJ45 jack are clear of the base enclosure.
    7.Flex the left side of the base enclosure (1) above the external monitor port.
    8.Lift back edge of the system board (2) until the external monitor port is clear of the base enclosure.
    9.Flex the left side of the base enclosure (1) above the eSATA connector and HDMI connector.
    10.Lift the back edge of the system board (2) until the eSATA connector and HDMI connector are clear
    of the base enclosure.
