    A Auto button  Automatically fine-tunes the image quality. 
    B Menu button  Opens, selects, or exits the OSD menu.  
    C – (minus) button  Navigates backward through the OSD menu and decreases adjustment levels. 
    D + (plus) button Navigates forward through the OSD menu and increases adjustment levels. 
    E Power button  Turns the monitor on or off. 
    F Power LED 
     Fully powered = green 
    Sleep mode = amber

    Settings 
     
    Setting the Optimal Resolution 
    The recommended resolution for this monitor is 1920 x 1080.To configure the monitor to this resolution, complete 
    the setup procedure and make sure that the monitor is connected to the computer. Turn the monitor on and do the 
    following: 
    1 Click the Windows Start Button
    ®, and then click Control Panel. 
    2 Under Appearance and Personalization, click Adjust Screen Resolution. 
    3 Set the resolution slide bar to 1920 x 1080. 
     
     
    NOTE: If 1920 x 1080 is not shown, download the monitor driver from the Web. See Using the Monitor for instructions.
     
    Locking and Unlocking the OSD 
    To change the lock status of the on-screen display (from locked to unlocked, or from unlocked to locked) press and 
    hold the Menu button for 10 seconds while the monitor is on. If the OSD is locked, the message “OSD Lock” displays 
    for 10 seconds.

    Adjusting On-Screen Display Settings 
    Use the OSD menu to adjust the screen image and change settings. To access the OSD menu: 
    1 If the monitor is not already on, press the Power button to turn the monitor on. 
    2 Press the Menu button to activate the OSD menu. 
    3 Press the – (minus) and + (plus) buttons to navigate through the functions. Once the desired function is 
    highlighted, press the Menu button again to activate it. If the selected function has a sub-menu, it displays. 
    Press – (minus) or + (plus) again to navigate through the sub-menu functions. Once the desired sub-function is 
    highlighted, press the Menu button to activate it. 
    4 Press – (minus) or + (plus) to change the settings of the selected function. 
    5 To exit and save, select the Exit function. If you want to adjust another function, repeat steps 3–4. 
     
     
    NOTE: If the buttons remain untouched for the time according to the OSD time out while displaying a menu, new 
    adjustments will be saved and exit the menu.

    Installing Drivers and Using the Auto-Adjustment Feature 
     
    Downloading Drivers and Software 
    To download the latest version of drivers and software files from the HP Support Web site: 
    1 Refer to: http://www.hp.com/support
     
    2 Select your country/region. 
    3 Select Download Drivers and Software. 
    4 Enter the model number of your monitor. The software download pages for your monitor will be displayed. 
    5 Download and install the driver and software files using the instructions in the download pages. 
     
    Using the Auto-Adjustment Function 
    Press the Auto button to optimize the screen performance for VGA (analog). 
    If your monitor is using VGA (analog) input, auto-adjustment can correct the following image quality conditions: 
    y Fuzzy or unclear focus 
    y Ghosting, streaking, or shadowing effects 
    y Faint vertical bars 
    y Thin, horizontal scrolling lines

    Problem & Question Possible Solutions 
    Power LED is not on. y Make sure the Power button is on and the power adapter and cord are 
    properly connected to a grounded power outlet and to the monitor. 
    No Plug & Play. y In order for the Plug & Play feature of the monitor to work, you need a 
    Plug & Play compatible computer and video card. Check with your 
    computer manufacturer. 
    y Check the monitor’s video cable and make sure none of the pins are 
    bent. 
    y Make sure the HP monitor drivers are installed (HP monitor drivers are 
    available at: http://www.hp.com/support
    ) 
    Picture is fuzzy and has ghosting 
    shadowing problem. y Adjust the contrast and brightness controls. 
    y Make sure you are not using an extension cable or switch box. We 
    recommend plugging the monitor directly into the video card output 
    connector on the back of your computer. 
    y For VGA input, the auto-adjustment function may fix this problem. 
    Picture bounces, flickers or wave 
    pattern is present in the picture. y Move electrical devices that may cause electrical interference as far 
    away from the monitor as possible. 
    y Use the maximum refresh rate your monitor is capable of at the 
    resolution you are using. 
    Monitor is stuck in “Active Off-Mode”. y The computer power switch should be in the on position. 
    y The computer video card should be snugly seated in its slot. 
    y Make sure the monitor’s video cable is properly connected to the 
    computer. 
    y Inspect the monitor’s video cable and make sure none of the pins are 
    bent. 
    y Make sure your computer is operational by hitting the Caps Lock key 
    on the keyboard while observing the Caps Lock LED. The LED should 
    either turn on or off after hitting the Caps Lock key.

    Missing one of the primary colors (red, 
    green, or blue). y Inspect the monitor’s video cable and make sure that none of the pins 
    are bent. 
    y Make sure the monitor’s video cable is properly connected to the 
    computer. 
    Screen image is not centered or sized 
    properly. y Adjust horizontal and vertical screen position. 
    y For VGA input, the auto-adjustment function may fix this problem. 
    Picture has color defects (white does 
    not look white). y Adjust RGB color or select color temperature. 
    Unable to set the monitor to the 
    optimal resolution. y Make sure that the graphics card supports the optimal resolution             
    (1920x1080). 
    y Make sure that the latest supported driver is installed for the graphics 
    card. For HP and Compaq systems, you can download the latest 
    graphics driver for your system from: 
    http://www.hp.com/support
