9.Release the support strip (1) covering the display panel connector. Disconnect the display panel cable from the display panel (2), and then remove the panel (3). Reverse this procedure to install the display panel. Remove the base enclosure: 1.Turn the computer face down, remove the 12 Phillips PM 7.5 millimeter long screws. 2.Remove the bottom enclosure. NOTE:To remove the bottom enclosure, use a thin, non-conductive tool such as the HP Tool Shroud separator, available on the HP website. Component replacement procedures 35
Battery DescriptionSpare part number 4-cell, 60WHr 4.1AH Li-ion battery 681951-001 Before removing the battery, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the display panel (see Display panel on page 32). 5.Remove the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 34). Remove the battery: 1.Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you. 2.Disconnect the battery cable. 3.Move the battery cable to the side (1), and then remove the 6 Phillips PM 2.5×4.2 screws (2) that secure the battery to the computer. 36 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

RTC battery DescriptionSpare part number RTC battery686922–001 Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the display panel (see Display panel on page 32). 5.Remove the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 34). 6.Disconnect the battery cable (see Battery on page 36). Remove the RTC battery: 1.Use a thin, non-conductive tool to remove the RTC battery from the socket on the system board. NOTE:Use a thin, non-conductive tool to remove the RTC battery from the socket on the system board. 2.Hold down the media card reader board (2), and remove the RTC battery (3). (The RTC battery is also attached to the system board by foam material rather than double-sided adhesive.) Component replacement procedures 41
