3 Setting Up the Monitor Unpacking The Monitor 1.Unpack the monitor. Make sure all contents are included. Store the packing box. 2.Turn off the computer and other attached devices. 3.Determine whether the monitor will be desktop mounted or wall-mounted. See Installing the Monitor in this chapter. 4.Prepare a flat area to assemble the monitor. 4.Release the base from the column by squeezing the two tabs toward each other. Pull the base away from the column as you do so. 6.Rock the bottom of the support column until it snaps away from the top portion of the column, which covers the support column mounting bracket. 9.Slide the column mounting bracket away from the bottom of the monitor. Connecting Monitor Cables Connecting the VGA (Analog) Cable or DVI-D (Digital) Cable Use a VGA video cable or a DVI-D cable to connect your monitor to your computer. 1.To connect the VGA cable Connect one end of the VGA video cable to the back of the monitor and the other end to the VGA video connector on the computer. Connecting the Power Cable 1.Follow all Electrical and Power Warnings WARNING!To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment: Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet.
