E Working with memory Printer memory NOTEThe information in this appendix pertains to the HP Color LaserJet 3000 and 3800 Series printers only. Installing memory DIMMs You can install more memory for the printer, and you can also install a font DIMM to allow the printer to print characters for lan guages such as Chinese or the Cyrillic alphabet. CAUTIONStatic electricity can damage DIMMs. When handling DIMMs, either wear an antistatic wrist strap, or freque ntly touch the surface of the DI MM antistatic package and then touch bare metal on the printer. 3.Place the formatter board on a clean, flat, grounded surface. To replace a DIMM that is currently installed, sp read the latches apart on each side of the DIMM slot, lift the DIMM up at an angle, and pull it out. 4. Remove the new DIMM from the antistatic package , and then locate the alignment notch on the bottom edge of the DIMM. 5. Holding the DIMM by the edges, align the notch on the DIMM with the bar in the DIMM slot at an angle and firmly press the DIMM into the slot until it is fully seated....

6.Push down on the DIMM until both latches engage the DIMM. NOTE If you have difficulty inserting the DIMM, make sure that the notch on the bottom of the DIMM is aligned with the bar in the slot. If the DIMM still does not go in, make sure that you are using the correct DIMM type. 7.
