Wipe up spills immediately. 48 FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS Fuel Pump Filter Inspection and Replacement Use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 86 or higher. SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging can cause engine damage. Distributor’s Limited Warranty Your outboard motor is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Unleaded gasoline produces f ewer engine and spark plug deposits and extends exhaust system life. Never use stale or contaminated gasoline or an oil/gasoline mixture. Avoid getting dirt or water in the f uel tank. Occasionally you may hear a light ‘‘spark knock’’ or ‘‘pinging’’ (metallic rapping noise) while operating under heavy loads. This is no cause f or concern. If spark knock or pinging occurs at a steady engine speed, under normal load, change brands of gasoline. If spark knock or pinging persists, see an authorized Honda marine dealer.Running the engine with persistent spark knock or pinging is misuse, and the does not cover parts damaged by misuse. Water or sediment accumulated in the f ilter can cause loss of power or hard starting. To prevent engine malf unction, inspect the f ilter and replace when necessary. The f uel pump f ilter is located under the engine cover, on the right side of the engine. 04/03/15 10:33:41 31ZV1630_049
