The batteries could explode or leak, resulting in fires, physical injury, or stains. • When loading batteries, observe their correct polarities as marked on the product. If loade d in the wrong direction, the batteries could explode or leak, resulting in fires, physical injury, or stains. Loading Batteries Handling the Remote Control Use the remote control within about 5 m from front of the unit’s remote control sensor and within 30 degrees on both sides. ATTENTION• Do not drop or impact the remote control. • Do not splash the remote control with water or put it on a wet object to avoid possible failures. • Before leaving the remote control out of use for an extended period of time, remove the batteries from it. • If the remote control begins to lack responsiveness, replace the batteries. • Strong light such as direct sunlight impinging on the photoreceptor of the remote control can cause operational failure. Position this unit to avoid direct contact with such light. 1. Open the battery cover of the remote control by pressing the notched part of the cover with your fingers and pulling the cover off. 2. Insert two new “AAA” size batte ries for the remote control. When replacing old batteries, push them towards the springs and lift them out. 3. Sizes include 4:3 Standard, Panoramic, 4:3 Zoom1, 4: 3 Zoom2, Full, 16:9 Zoom. 4:3 Standard Use this side mode to display conventional (4:3) images. Side panels (gray areas) are placed to the left and right of the image to preserve the origin al aspect ratio of the source. Note: Use this mode for only 15% of your total viewing ti me to prevent uneven aging of the phosphors. Phosphors in the lighted area of the picture will age more rapidly than the gray areas. Panoramic Use this side mode to display conventional (4:3) sources by linearly increasing image expansion from the center towards the edges of the display area in order to fill it. 4:3 Zoom1/Zoom2 Use these side modes to zoom in on conventional (4:3) sources. Full Use this side mode to display 16:9 sources like HDTV and DVD’s preserving the original 16:9 side ratio. 16:9 Zoom Use this side to Zoom-in once while in 16:9 side. Depending on the input signal format received, the pictur e format ratio allows you to adjust the images through the following options. (1) TV/480i/480p/576i/576p/HDMI Input (2) 720P/1080i/HDMI Input (3) RGB Input Auto adjust to full size. (Aspect ratio is not changeable.) If an incompatible size is selected to play certain software, such as a TV program, the image would appear different from original. Take this into consideration when making picture size choices. • Use of this TV in its enlarged display mode with the wide f eature enabled in coffee shops and other establishments for commer cial or public viewing purposes could infringe on the co pyright holders right protected by Copyright Law. • When a normal 4:3 image is displayed over the entire picture in the Panoramic mode, parts of the periphery of the image may disappear and appear distorted in some cases. ENGLISH 17 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Installation • If you have purchased the model without the stand attached: When installing the monitor, use the optional stand CMPAD42T. The desktop stand has been used for the installation in this manual. Read SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ( 5 to 8 ) car efully to ensure maximum safety before proceeding to these steps: • Choose an appropriate site and install the product on a level table where the stand is secure. • Install the PDP TV to have ready access to a power socket available. • Make sure that the power switch of this device is turned off. • Use one of the special mount units to install this product. A mount of insufficient strength or inadequate design can cause overturning or dropping and result in fire, electr ical shock or injury. Please note that our company assumes absolutely no responsibility for personal injuries or pr operty damage caused by use of other mount units or improper installation. • Have this unit mounted in a stable place. Take measures to prevent it from tumbling down to avoid possible. 10cm (4 inches) or more* • In order to prevent an internal temperat ure increase, maintain a space of 10cm (4 inches: For a desktop set-up) or more between the sides and other objects such as walls, etc., so that the v entilation holes are not blocked.(*) Please avoid installing the TV directly on the wooden fl oor. 18 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued) Connecting to an Audio Visual Device (1) Make sure that the signal of the audio visual device to be used is compatible with the specifications of this device. See “PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS” concerning the specifications of this device. 40 ~ 42 (2) Make sure that the power switch of the PDP TV is turned off. (3) Make sure that the power switch of the audio visual device is turned off. (4) Use a commercially available cable and connector to connect the signal input terminal on the rear panel of this device and the signal output terminal of the audio visual device. 1. Use an antenna cable connects to an outdoor antenna. 2. Connect all power sources before activating the PDP TV. 3. Turn on the PDP TV. 4. To use the TV, press TV/VIDEO button on the remote. 5. When operating the TV at first time , its TV system is at “default factory mode” and this mode cannot display the image normally on the screen. In order to watc h the TV program without problem, please execute “TV Channel Setup” menu 31 for normally display. If there are noise appearance in the picture of VHF-Low band channel, please use the double-shielded cable (not provided) for RF LEADS to reduce the noise Precautions when connecting the antenna ‧ Please use a coaxial cable which is free from interference to connect the antenna. ‧ Avoid using a parallel flat feeder wire as interference may occur, causing reception to be unstable and stripe noise to appear on the screen. ‧ Avoid using indoor antenna as this may be affected by interference. Connect the HDTV source device using the appropriate cable pair, in the following order of preference: HDMI cable or Component cable and audio cable 2. Press the button corresponding to the appropr iate signal source (HDMI, Component Video, YC BCR/YPBPR, S-Video or Composite Video) For improved sound quality, you may want to play the audio of the PDP through your stereo system. 1. Use an audio cable and Subwoofer cable to connect the PDP’s audio output jacks to the line input jacks on the A/V receiver. 2. Connect all power sources before activating the PDP TV. 3. Turn on the PDP TV. 4. Press the MENU to display the menu, then press · À to select Audio. 5. Press Enter, then press · À to select subwoofer and press W X to select On/Off.
