BIOS Setup - 33 - English BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) includes a CMOS SETUP utility which allows user to configure required settings or to activate certain system features. The CMOS SETUP saves the configuration in the CMOS SRAM of the motherboard. When the power is turned off, the battery on the motherboard supplies the necessary power to the CMOS SRAM. When the power is turned on, pushing the button during the BIOS POST (Power-On Self Test) will take you to the CMOS SETUP screen. When setting up BIOS for the first time, it is recommended that you save the current BIOS to a disk in the event that BIOS needs to be reset to its original settings. If you wish to upgrade to a new BIOS, either GIGABYTEs Q-Flash or @BIOS utility can be used. Q-Flash allows the user to quickly and easily update or backup BIOS without entering the operating system. @BIOS is a Windows-based utility that does not require users to boot to DOS before upgrading BIOS but directly download and update BIOS from the Internet. GA-G1975X-C Motherboard - 38 - English Memory The category is display-only which is determined by POST (Power On Self Test) of the BIOS. Base Memory The POST of the BIOS will determine the amount of base (or conventional) memory installed in the system. The value of the base memory is typically 512K for systems with 512K memory installed on the motherboard, or 640K for systems with 640K or more memory installed on the motherboard. Extended Memory The BIOS determines how much extended memory is present during the POST. This is the amount of memory located above 1 MB in the CPUs memory address map. Total Memory This item displays the memory size that used.

Use the traditional method to provide IRQs for the system. APICAPIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller). Provide more IRQs for the system through IOAPIC. (Default value) Note: BIOS will autodetect IOAPIC mode when an IOAPIC procoessor is installed. And your operating system will be APIC-supported if you enable the APIC mode in BIOS before installing the operating system. However, if you replace the APIC processor with a non-APIC one or switch to PIC mode in BIOS, you will not be able to enter the APIC operating system and will have to reinstall it. HDD S.M.A.R.T.
