3 Your universal remote requires two (2) AAA Alkaline batteries\c (not included). \bo Install the Batt\Ceries 1. On t\fe back of t\fe r\cemote, pus\f down on \ct\fe tab and lift t\fe cover off. 2. Matc\f t\fe (+) and (-)\c marks on t\fe batte\cries to t\fe (+) and (-) marks i\cnside t\fe battery compartment , t\fen insert two (2) AAA Alkaline\c batteries. Be sur\ce to use fres\f batteries. 3. Press t\fe battery cover back into place.\c NOTE: If your remote stops operating properly, replace t\fe batteries wit\f new ones. \b\fe remote will retain t\fe codes you \fave programmed for up to 10 minutes after t\fe batteries are removed. Battery Precautions • Do not mix old and n\cew batteries. • Do not mix alkalin\ce, standard (carbon-zinc), or \c rec\fargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-M\cH, etc.) batteries.\c • Always remove old, weak or worn-out batteries \c promptly and recycle or dispose of t\fe\cm in accordance wit\f local and \cnational regulations. Battery Saver Your remote automatically\c turns off if t\fe bu\cttons are depressed more t\fan 8 seconds. T\fi\cs will save your batteries s\fould your remote get stuck in \ca place w\fere t\fe buttons remain depressed (e.g., between t\fe sofa cus\fions). Co\fe Saver You will \fave up to 10 minutes\c to c\fange t\fe batteries in your remote wit\fout losin\cg codes you \fave programmed. INPU\b Selects t\fe video inputs from available viewing sources. Button Functions INFO Displays/selects on-screen c\fannel information. MENU Press and release SHIF\b/SE\bUP t\fen MENU/ INFO to display t\fe Menu\c on t\fe TV. See “Using SHIF\b for Menu and Navigation” descript\cion on Page 10 for more information. DO\b: Used to select digi\ctal c\fannels, e.g., 2.3.

S\come devices require EN\bER to be pressed after c\fannel selection. ON•OFF Turns devices On or Off. CHANNEL UP/DOWN C\fanges t\fe c\fannels\c. Button Functions, cont\C . SE\bUP Used to setup t\fe r\cemote, and for code searc\f function. SHIF\b Press and release to access bu\cttons labeled in reverse print (OK, M\bNU, \bXIT). See “Using SHIF\b for Menu and Navigation” descript\cion on Page 10 for more information. MU\bE Turns off t\fe TV sound w\file t\fe picture remains. OK Selects menu items for t\fe device \c you are controlling.
6 Programming Your Remote Your G\b universal remote control is designed to control multiple audio/v\cideo devices suc\f as \cTV, DVD, DVR, satellite, cable \cand audio using only\c one remote. To use t\fis remote, you will need to program it to control t\fe devices of your c\foice. T\fere are two ways to program t\fe remote - direct code entry or auto code searc\f. Direct Co\fe Entry (Recommen\fe\f) 1. Locate t\fe Remote Code List provided in t\fis manual. Fin\cd t\fe DEVICE CA\bEGORY you wis\f to program (for example \bV, DVD/VCR, CBL/SA\b) and t\fen find t\fe BRAND of t\fat device. Circle all t\fe codes und\cer t\fat brand. \bxample: For a G\b TV, locate t\fe TV code section t\fen cir\ccle all of t\fe G\b TV codes. 2. Manually turn on t\c\fe device you wis\f to control. 3. Press and \fold t\fe SE\bUP button until t\fe red indicator lig\ft st\cays on (approximately 4 seconds) \cand t\fen release t\fe SE\bUP button. 4. Press and release t\fe desired device button on t\fe remote (\bV, DVD/VCR, CBL/SA\b). T\fe red indicator will bl\cink once and t\fen remain on. 5. \bnter t\fe first 4-digit code previously found in t\fe code lis\ct using t\fe number buttons on \ct\fe remote. If t\fe code entered is a valid code, t\fe red indicator lig\ft will\c turn off. If t\fe code entered is not a valid code, t\fe red indicator lig\ft will\c flas\f and remain on allowing you to re-enter t\fe code. Note: If no buttons are pressed for 10 seconds, t\fe remote will exit t\fe SE\bUP mode and you will \fave to start over.
7 Programming Your Remote, cont . 6. Point t\fe remote at t\fe device.\c Press t\fe POWER button—if t\fe device\c turns off, no furt\fer programming is required for t\fat device. I\cf t\fe device does not turn off, return to step 3 and use t\fe next code\c found in t\fe code list . Continue t\fis process until a code for your device is found. 7. Repeat t\fis process for eac\f device \c (for example TV, DVD, VCR, CBL ,SAT) in your \fome entertainment system you wis\f to control. T\free devices can be programmed. Programming Notes • If your device does not \crespond to t\fe remote after trying all codes liste\cd or your brand is not listed in t\fe code li\cst , use t\fe Auto Code \cSearc\f met\fod to program your remote. • Sometimes t\fe first code t\fat “works” wit\f your device may operate o\cnly a few functions of your device. T\fere may be anot\fer co\cde in t\fe code list t\fat performs more functions. Try ot\fer codes from t\fe code list for \cmore functionality. • Wit\f t\fe Direct Code \bntry met\fod, you can program any device but\cton to control any device in your \fome entertainment system. For example, you can use t\fe CBL/SA\b device button to control an audio receiver or a DVD, VCR, etc. • For combination devi\cces, you may \fave to enter a code for eac\f device. \cFor example, for a \cVCR/DVD device, you may \fave to enter a code fo\cr t\fe DVD under t\fe DVD/VCR button and enter a\c code for t\fe VCR using a different device button on\c t\fe remote. • Write down t\fe code f\cound to operate your device for future reference.
8 Programming Your Remote, cont . Auto Co\fe Search T\fe Auto Code Searc\f searc\fes automatically t\froug\f all of t\fe codes\c stored in t\fis remote. Read all t\fe following s\cteps prior to star\cting t\fe auto searc\f as you will need to be \cprepared to lock-in t\fe proper code w\fen found.\c 1. Manually turn on t\c\fe device you wis\f to control. 2. Press and \fold t\fe SE\bUP button until t\fe red indicator lig\ft st\cays on (approximately 4 seconds) \cand t\fen release t\fe button. \c 3. Press and release t\fe desired device button on t\fe remote (\bV, DVD/VCR, CBL/SA\b). T\fe red indicator will bl\cink once and t\fen remain on. 4. Point t\fe remote at t\fe device \cand press and release t\fe POWER button (for TV) or PLAY button (for DVD, VCR, etc.) to start t\fe searc\f. T\fe red indicator will flas\f \c(approximately every 2 seconds) as t\fe \cremote searc\fes. Note: \b\fe remote must be pointed at t\fe device fo\cr t\fe duration of t\fis searc\f. 5. Place your finger on t\fe #1 button so you are prepared to lock-in t\fe code. 6. W\fen t\fe device s\futs\c off or begins playing, press t\fe #1 button to lock-in t\fe code. T\fe red indicator lig\ft wi\cll turn off. Note: You \fave approximately two seconds after t\fe device s\futs \coff or begins playing \cto lock-in t\fe code. 7. Point t\fe remote at t\fe device \cand c\feck to see if t\fe r\cemote operates t\fe device as desired. If it does, no furt\fer programming is required for t\fat device. If it do\ces not , return to step 2 and start t\fe auto searc\f again.
9 Programming Your Remote, cont . 8. Repeat t\fis process for eac\f device \c(for example TV, DVD, SAT) in your \fome entertainment system you wis\f to control. T\free devices can be programmed. Programming Notes • T\fis process may take several minutes as t\fe\c remote contains many\c codes. • W\fen using t\fe Auto\c Code Searc\f programming met\fod, t\fe device bu\ctton corresponding to t\fe type of device you want to control must be selected (for exampl\ce, t\fe \bV device button must \c be selected in step \c3 if you want to control a TV, t\fe DVD/VCR device button for a\c DVD player, etc.) • T\fe SE\bUP button can be used \cduring t\fe searc\f process to reverse t\fe direction of t\fe searc\f of t\fe remote codes. For exa\cmple, if you miss t\fe code for your device and t\fe remote is continuing\c to searc\f (as indicated by t\c\fe blinking red lig\ft), press t\fe SE\bUP button and t\fe code \csearc\f will reverse direction and return to t\fe code. • Sometimes t\fe first code t\fat “works” wit\f your device may operate o\cnly a few functions of your device. T\fere may be anot\fer co\cde in t\fe code list t\fat performs more functions. Continue \ct\fe auto code searc\f as directed above until t\fe best code is found.
10 Using Your Remote For M\bNU, press and release SHIF\b/SE\bUP t\fen INFO/MENU. For OK, press and release SHIF\b/SE\bUP t\fen MU\bE/OK. For \bXIT, press and release SHIF\b/SE\bUP t\fen LAS\b/EXI\b. For Up, Down, Left or Rig\c\ft Navigation, press and release SHIF\b/SE\bUP followed by t\fe respective C\fannel or Volume button. SPECIAL NO\bE: Remote will stay in\c s\fift mode until t\fe SHIF\b button is pressed again, or unt\cil 10 seconds of inactivity\c. Using SHIF\b for Menu an\f Navi\Cgation T\fe SHIF\b button allows acces\cs to more t\fan one function for certain buttons. Use t\fe SHIF\b/SE\bUP button prior to a\cccessing t\fe MENU, OK, EXI\b and Navigation functions, for example: Controlling Combo Device\Cs Some Combo devices (\ce.g. TV/VCR, TV/DVD, DVD/ VCR, etc.) will require you to set up two different Mode buttons to control bot\f parts of t\fe Combo devi\cce. For example, if you \fave a TV/DVD Combo, you mig\ft need to set up one \ccode under t\fe \bV button to control t\fe TV part AND a separate co\cde (under any ot\fer Mode button) t\co control t\fe DVD part .
