Thank you for purchasing the Frankford Arsenal™ Jiffy™Powder Trickler. Your new trickler gives you a fast, easy, and accurate method of trickle charging your reloads. WARNING: This product is designed for use with smokeless powder only! Never use this product with Black Powder or Black Powder Substitutes! The use of black powder or black powder substitutes may result in an explosion causing serious injury! Setting up the Jiffy ™ Trickler: 1. Make sure that all parts are present for your Jiffy ™Powder Trickler: trickler, trickler stand, an o-ring on the dispensing tube, and instruc- tions. 2. Turn the trickler upside down and install 2 AA batteries (not includ- ed) in the battery compartments. Make sure the polarity is correct (see figure 1). Caution: Batteries that are installed backwards may cause damage to the product! The batteries are designed to fit very tightly. When replacing the batteries, a screwdriver may be required to pry them out. 3. Set up your scale and measure the distance from your work surface to the top of your powder pan. If it is less than 2-1/8, the trickler is ready to use. Figure 1
4. If the top of your powder pan sits higher than 2-1/8 from your work surface, install the trickler stand on your trickler by holding the stand at a 90º angle to the main trickler with latch held up against the switch side of the trickler. Slowly rotate the stand until it is latched in place (see figure 2). Using the Jiffy ™Powder Trickler: 1. Place the trickler on your work surface next to your scale with the hole in the dispensing tube facing up. Making sure you have the cor- rect powder, slowly pour it into the powder hopper until it is approxi- mately 3/4 full. 2. Position the trickler so the switch is in a convenient location and the dispensing tube is over the scale pan. 3. To prime the tube, slowly incline the unit lowering the dispensing tube until powder flows into the scale pan. Make sure the trickler doesn’t interfere with the operation of the scale. 4. Make sure the o-ring is lying in the groove on the dispensing tube. Zero your scale, then push the trickler button and watch the scale. When the scale indicates you are getting close to your desired charge, release the button and let the scale stabilize. At this point, you can use a start-and-stop method of dropping powder and checking the scale until you have the exact charge weight. 5. When measuring large powder charges, you may want to dispense the bulk of the charge with a powder measure or powder dipper and then use the electric powder trickler to bring the powder charge to the desired weight. Figure 2
Switching from Automatic to Manual Powder Trickling The Jiffy ™Powder Trickler may be switched to Manual mode by gently rolling the o-ring out of the groove toward the end of the dispensing tube. Next, pull back on the gray knob to disengage the trickler motor. The gray knob can now be rotated manually to trickle powder. To return trickler to Automatic mode, simply push the gray knob back in, matching the gears, and roll the o-ring back into the groove on the dispensing tube. Warning: Do not operate trickler in Automatic mode without o-ring in the dispensing tube groove! This may cause premature wear/fail- ure of your trickler. Ti p s 1. Ball, flake, and extruded powders trickle differently. You will need to experiment with various powders to learn the best method for trick- ling the last few grains for each load. 2. When you empty the electric powder trickler, make sure you lightly tap the powder tube several times on a hard surface to remove any trace of powder left in the tube. 3. Do not store powder in your Jiffy ™Powder Trickler! Powder left out in the open will be contaminated by moisture in the air over time. Powder must be stored in a properly labeled powder container.
