Then choose Stylus Pro 3880 in the Printer list. 5. Click Browse and find the firmware that you just downloaded and extracted. Select the file and click Choose. 6. If the firmware version of the file is newer, click Update to start the firmware update process. (If it is the same, you don’t need to update it.) 7. When the update is complete, close the Firmware Updater window and the LFP Remote Panel window.Caution: Don’t turn off the printer while the firmware is updating.

See page 114 for more information. If you’re using the Epson printer driver and Status Monitor utility, check your software for error messages. See Chapter 4 or 5 for more information. To determine whether the problem is caused by the printer itself, disconnect the printer from your computer and run a nozzle check from the control panel. See page 90 for instructions. 6-114 114 | Solving Problems Checking Error Messages and Lights The control panel includes various lights and an LCD panel to indicate the status of the printer: When your ink is low or expended, or paper runs out, or a problem occurs, a message appears on the LCD, and the lights on the control panel come on or flash. The following table lists the messages in alphabetical order and includes instructions for correcting the problem. LOAD THE CORRECT SIZE PAPERThe installed paper is not supported for borderless printing or the PAPER SIZE CHECK setting is off.Press the d button, and then load a different size media. See “Choosing Paper Options” on page 71 for Windows, or “Choosing Page Setup and Basic Print Options” on page 48 for Macintosh. Also, select ON for PAPER SIZE CHECK in the printer’s menu system. CANNOT OPEN COVER IS THERE ANYTHING ON THE PRINTER? PRESS THE UP BUTTONSomething may have been placed on top of the printer (ink cover).Remove whatever has been placed on the printer (ink cover). CLEANING ERROR PRESS THE DOWN BUTTON AND REMOVE THICK PAPERPrint head cleaning cannot be started because thick paper is loaded.Remove the thick paper. COMMAND ERROR CHECK DRIVER SETTINGSDamaged data was sent to the printer or the data has an incorrect command.Stop printing and press the +Cancel/Reset button for 3 seconds. The installed printer driver is not correct for the printer.Stop printing and press the +Cancel/Reset button for 3 seconds. Then make sure that the installed printer driver is correct for the printer. FRONT FEED SLOT OPEN CLOSE THE FRONT MANUAL FEED SLOTThe front manual feed slot is open during operation.Close the front feed slot.

FRONT FEED SLOT OPEN PRESS THE DOWN BUTTON AND REMOVE PAPERPaper is loaded in the front manual feed slot.Press the d button, then remove the paper from the front manual feed slot. FRONT SLOT CLOSED OPEN THE FRONT MANUAL FEED SLOTThe front manual feed slot is closed during operation.Open the front slot by pushing it. If necessary, remove the paper. INK CARTRIDGE ERROR CHECK CARTRIDGEThe wrong type of cartridge is installed.Remove the ink cartridge and install one that is designed for your printer. See “Replacing Ink Cartridges” on page 95.
