    Using the Remote Control
    To use the remote control, point it towards the remote 
    control receivers located at the front of the projector.
    To be able to use the remote control as a cordless mouse, 
    connect the mouse cable to the projector and your computer.
    You can use the remote control up to 10 metres (30 feet) 
    from the projector.
    ♦Note: The projector may not respond to remote control 
    commands in these conditions: ambient light is too bright; a 
    certain type of fluorescent light is present; a strong light source 
    (such as direct sunlight) shines into the infrared receiver; or 
    other equipment emitting infrared energy is present (such as a 
    radiant room heater). Correct these conditions to use the remote 
    control or control the projector from a computer.

    This table summarizes the functions on the remote control.   
    Button Function
    Freeze Keeps the current computer or video image on the 
    screen.
    A/V Mute Turns off the audio and video output of the projector. 
    To turn on the audio and video output, press either the 
    A/V mute button or Esc button again.
    E-Zoom Pressing the right side of the button enlarges the 
    image, pressing the left side of the button reduces the 
    image.
    To display a portion of the enlarged image which is 
    outside of the display area, press the Enter button to 
    scroll the image.
    Power Turns the projector on or off.
    Effect buttons Use to display special effects that have been assigned 
    in the Effect menu.
    Enter Use the enter button to navigate the menus or use the 
    remote as a mouse pointer when the projector is 
    connected to the computer with the computer cable 
    and the mouse cable.
    You can also select a menu option by pressing the 
    center of this button (Enter).
    If you press the Enter when a menu or help is 
    displayed, you access the next menu or screen. When 
    the image source is a computer, the Enter button acts 
    as the mouse left click.
    Illumination 
    buttonLights up all buttons on the remote control for 10 
    seconds.
    Esc Terminates the current function.
    If you press the Esc button when a menu or help is 
    displayed, you go back to the previous screen or 
    menu.
    When the image source is a computer, the Esc button 
    acts as the mouse right click.
    Menu Displays or hides the menu.
    Help Displays the Help menu.

    37 Comp Switches to the computer image from Computer.
    S-Video Switches to the video image from S-Video.
    Video Switches to the image from Video.
    Auto Optimizes the computer image.
    Resize Switches between the Window display and Resizing 
    display.
    P in P Displays a subscreen on the main display. To display 
    the subscreen, press the PinP button once. To hide 
    the subscreen, press it again.
    To set the subscreen being displayed, press in the 
    following order : 
    [Menu] → [Setting] → [P in P].
    The default settings are as follows;
    Subscreen size:1/9 division
    Main screen input source:Computer
    Subscreen input source:Video
    To change the subscreen position, press the Enter 
    button. The subscreen will move to the selected 
    direction. 
    Volume +/- Adjusts the volume. Button Function

    Using the Operation Panel
    You can use the operation panel to control the projector 
    instead of the remote control. However, you can program and 
    access the custom features only using the remote control. 
    The following table summarizes the functions on the 
    operation panel.   
    Button Function
    Power Turns the projector on or off.
    Help Displays the Help menu.
    Source Switches the image source in order of computer
     →S-
    video
     →composite video. If there is no S-video input, 
    the switch toggles between computer and composite 
    video.
    Enter Selects a menu option when the Help menu is 
    displayed.
    Keystone +/- Adjusts a trapezoid distorted image to normal.
    Select Scrolls up and down, or right and left when the Help 
    menu is displayed.

    Projector Status Indicators
    The power and lamp indicators at the top of the projector tell 
    you its operating status.
    ♦Caution: A red indicator warns you if a serious problem occurs. 
    See Chapter 5, “Troubleshooting,” for what to do if a warning 
    light comes on.
    Operation Indicator
    Displays machine condition.
    Color Status Meaning
    Orange Lit Sleep mode. (The projector is plugged in,
    but not projecting.)
    Green FlashingThe projector is warming up.
    Green Lit Power and projection lamp are on.
    Orange Flashing Projection lamp is off, and the projector is 
    cooling down for one minute. Cooling time 
    depends on the air temperature. During 
    the cooling, any other operations cannot 
    be executed.
    Red Lit There is an internal projector problem .
    - Off The projector is not on.

    Lamp Indicator
    Displays lamp condition.
    This indicator is off when the projector is in a normal 
    condition.
    Temperature Indicator
    Displays the internal temperature condition.
    This indicator is off when the projector is in a normal 
    condition.
    Color Status Meaning
    - Off Lamp is functioning normally.
    Red Lit The lamp needs to be replaced.
    Orange Flashing Projection lamp has reached the time to 
    replace and will no longer project images. 
    Replace the projection lamp with a new 
    one.
    Red Flashing There is a problem with the projection 
    lamp, lamp power supply, lamp fuse, or a 
    circuit malfunctioned in the projector.
    Color Status Meaning
    - Off The projector is functioning normally.
    Orange Flashing The projector is too hot.

    41 Red Lit The projector has turned off automatically 
    because of over heating.
    The lamp goes off automatically and 
    projection becomes impossible. Wait for 
    approximately 5 minutes with the 
    projector in that state. After 5 minutes has 
    passed, pull out the power plug once, 
    then insert it again.
    If the projector overheats, check the 
    following 2 points and make the 
    necessary improvements.
    •Is the projector installed in a place with 
    good ventilation?
    Make sure the air intake and exhaust 
    vents are not covered, and that it is not 
    placed up against the wall.
    •Has dust accumulated in the air filter?
    If the air filter is dirty, clean it.
    When the power plug is reinserted, the 
    projector will recover to the normal state, 
    so press the power button and turn on the 
    power again. If the projector overheats 
    again even when the above measures 
    have been taken, and when an error is 
    displayed in the indicator when the power 
    is turned on again, discontinue use, Pull 
    the power plug out of the receptacle then 
    request repairs by the retail shop where 
    you purchased it, or by the service office 
    at the nearest address provided on 
    page 79.
    Red Flashing There is a problem with the cooling fan or 
    temperature sensor.

    Using the Projector Menus
    The eight projector menus let you to control your projector.
    •The Video menu controls the look and quality of the 
    projected image, whether the image source is a computer or 
    video.
    •The Audio menu controls audio features, such as the 
    volume level, tone setting.
    •The Effect menu lets you define functions for the Effects 
    buttons on the remote control.
    •The Setting menu lets you select various projector options.
    •The User’s Logo menu lets you select special features such 
    as background color or a custom logo.
    •The Advanced menu enables you to set various projector 
    options.
    •The About menu provides information about H/
    V(Horizontal/Vertical) frequency, and lamp hours etc.
    •The Reset All menu returns all settings to their factory

    Accessing the Main Menu
    To display the Main menu, press the Menu button on the 
    remote control. The Main menu appears:
