82 Glossary NTSC. A 525-line video broadcast format developed by the National Television Standards Committee. NTSC is widely used in North America, Mexico, and Japan. PAL (Phase Alternation by Line). Glossary 83 Serial. The type of communication interface that transmits data over a single wire. Sleep mode. A battery-saving feature in which the remote control becomes idle when it is not used for 15 minutes. Standby mode. A power-saving feature in which the projector remains on but the lamp is turned off. By default, standby mode is automatically turned on when the projector is not used for 10 minutes. VGA. Video Graphics Array. A high-resolution display adapter that provides a variety of video modes.
