Projector Installation
This appendix provides guidelines on installing the projector in a 
permanent location, such as a theater or conference room.
Installation Guidelines
The projector can be installed for four different viewing setups: front 
projection, ceiling projection, rear projection onto a semi-transparent 
screen, or rear/ceiling projection, as shown: 
To project from overhead, you’ll need the optional ceiling mounting 
hardware (see page 15). You’ll also need to select the appropriate...

164Projector InstallationIf you’re mounting the projector on the ceiling and you place it above 
screen level, you’ll have to tilt the projector down to position the 
image on the screen. This causes the image to lose its square shape. 
You can correct the image using the projector’s 
Quick Corner and/or 
Keystone functions, as described on page 58.
Security Features
The projector includes security features to prevent its theft when 
installed or used in public locations: 
■Security cable attachment. You...

■Lens theft deterrent screw. You can lock the lens with the 
supplied screw, so that the lens cannot be removed.
In addition, the projector includes several menu-operated security 
features. See page 121. 
Installing and Removing the Cable 
Cover
Install the rear cable cover to enhance the appearance of the projector 
and prevent any cables from being loosened or removed. To install the 
cover, follow these steps:
1. Insert its tabs into the slots as shown, then push the cover...

3. To remove the cover (when connecting or disconnecting cables), 
loosen the screws on the bottom of the cover, pull the bottom of 
the cover away from the projector as shown.

Installing the Lens
1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Turn the focus ring clockwise until it stops moving.
3. Make sure the white dot on the lens is facing up. Insert the lens 
straight into the projector, then turn clockwise until you hear it 
click into place.
4. If necessary, attach the lens theft deterrent screw (see page 165).
Removing the Lens
1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.
2. If you’ve attached the lens theft deterrent screw, remove it (see 
page 165).
