2Rotate the focus ring to sharpen the image. Rotate the zoom ring to reduce or enlarge the image. 3If your image looks likeor, you’ve placed the projector off to one side of the screen at an angle. Place it directly in front of the screen, facing the screen squarely. 4If your image looks likeor, press the orSyncbuttons on the projector. EPSON ® PowerLite ® 7850p Quick Setup 1Turn On Your Equipment 1Connect the power cord to the back of the projector and plug the other end into a grounded outlet. 2Remove the lens cover. 3Remove the battery cover on the remote control. Locate the batteries that came with the projector and insert them as shown. Then replace the battery cover. 4Push up on the remote control’sON/OFF switch to turn it on. 5Aim the remote control at the projector and press the red Power button. The projector’spower light flashes green and then stays on. ON/OFF switch CAUTION: Before unplugging the projector... To shut the projector down properly: 1.Press the Powerbutton twice. Let the projector cool while the power light flashes orange (about 30 seconds). 2.Once the light stops flashing and stays on, it’s safe to unplug the projector. Never unplug the projector when thepower light is green or flashing orange. Focus ring Zoom ring How do you want to get images to the projector? •To connect to a laptop, see “If connecting to a laptop” below. •To project over an 802.11b network, see “If projecting wirelessly” on the back of this sheet. You must have installed the projector’s EasyMPTM software and configured your projector and computer before you can project wirelessly. See your User’s Guidefor instructions. •To give a presentation stored on a memory card, see Chapter 5 in your User’s Guide. If connecting to a laptop... 1Make sure you’ve turned on the projector and adjusted the image as described in sections 1 and 2. 2Locate the VGA cable that came with the projector. Connect one end to the projector’sComputerport. Connect the other end to your laptop’s video-out port or monitor port. If you can’t connect the cable to your PowerBook® , you may need to use an adapter. See your User’s Guidefor instructions. 3Press the Compbutton on the remote control until your computer image is displayed. 3Choose a Presentation Method 1To raise the image, press the blue foot release button for the front adjustable foot and lift the front. Once the card is inserted, you see a screen like this: 4From the computer’s Start menu, select EMP NS Connection (Windows), or double-click the EMP NS Connectionicon in your Applications folder (Macintosh). 5If you see this screen, select the name and IP address for your computer’s 802.11b wireless card and click OK. You see this screen: If the connection is working properly, you see your projector listed as shown. If you don’t see your wireless device listed, restart your computer. If it still doesn’t appear, see the User’s Guidefor help. 6Once the name of your projector appears, select it and click Connect. 7If you see a message asking for a keyword, enter the four digits that appear on the EasyMP Network Screen and click OK. (See the screen at the top of this column to locate the projector keyword.) You see your computer’s image transmitted to the projector, and a floating control bar appears on the screen: 8When done with your presentation, click D i s c o n n e c ton the control bar. If the screen is still blank, restart your laptop, or press the Compbutton on the remote control again. If mute mode is active, press the A /V Mutebutton on the remote control. Windows® :Hold down the Fnbutton on the keyboard and press the function key that lets you display on an external monitor. It may have an icon such as , or it may be labeled CRT/LCD. 5If your projector and laptop don’t display the same image, do the following: Windows:Try using the CRT/LCDor function key, as described above. If this doesn’t work, double-click Displayin the Control Panel. Make sure both the LCD screen and monitor port are enabled. (Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up.) See your Windows online help for details. Macintosh® OS X: From the Applemenu, select System Preferences, then click Displays. Select the VGA Displayor Color LCDdialog box, click the Arrange(orArrangement) tab, and make sureMirror Displaysis checked. Macintosh OS 9 or earlier: From the Applemenu, select Control Panels, then click Monitors or Monitors and Sound. Click the Arrangeicon, then drag one monitor icon on top of the other; this lets you display on both the projection screen and the LCD screen. If this option isn’t available, click the Monitoricon and select a Simulscanresolution. 6If you see an image but it’s not displayed correctly, press the Auto button on the remote control to automatically readjust it. If projecting wirelessly... Follow the steps in this section to project over an 802.11b wireless network from a computer running Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP, or Macintosh OS X 10.2.4 or above. NOTE:You must have already installed the projector’s EasyMP software and configured your projector and computer. See the User’s Guidefor instructions. Also, your computer must have an 802.11b network card or transmitter installed. 1Make sure you’ve turned on the projector and adjusted the image as described in sections 1 and 2 on the front of this sheet. 2Select EasyMP as the source by pressing the EasyMPbutton on the remote control. 3Insert the EPSON 802.11b card with the blue label facing outward, as shown. When fully inserted, the black end of the card will protrude. NOTE:Use only the EPSON 802.11b card. Other brands may not be compatible and are not guaranteed to work.
