    							  LCD Conditioning  
    Factory Reset 
    Back   If an image appears to be retained on the monitor, select  LCD Conditioning  to help eliminate any image retention. Using the LCD Conditioning feature may take several hours. Severe cases of image retention are known as burn
    does not remove burn - in. 
       
    Reset all OSD settings to the factory default settings.
    Press the   button to go back to or exit the main menu.
      Personalize   There are 2 shortcut keys on the front panel. Select one control menu for each shortcut key to allow direct access.  
    						
    							   
    OSD Warning Messages  
    When the monitor does not support a particular resolution mode you will see the following message :

    This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. See  Monitor Specifications  for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this 
    monitor. The recommended mode is 1920x1080.  
     
    When monitor enters Power Save mode, the following message appears :

    Activate the computer and wake up the monitor to gain access to the  OSD

    Setting the Maximum Resolution  
     
    To set the maximum resolution for the monitor.  
    Windows XP:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and select  Properties .   
    2. Select the  Settings  tab.   
    3. Set the screen resolution to 1920 x 1080.   
    4. Click  OK .   
    Windows Vista ®
      or Windows ®
      7:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and select  Personalization .   
    2. Click Change Display Settings .   
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1920 x 1080 .   
    4. Click  OK .   
    If you do not see 1920 x 1080 as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Depending on your computer, complete one of the following 
    procedures.  
     
    If you have a Dell desktop or portable computer:   
    Go to  support.dell.com , enter your service tag, and download the latest driver for your graphics card.   
    If you are using a non - Dell computer (portable or desktop):  
    Go to the support site for your computer and download the latest graphic drivers.   
    Go to your graphics card website and download the latest graphic drivers.   
    Using the Dell Soundbar (Optional)  
    The Dell Soundbar is a stereo two channel system mountable on Dell flat panel displays. The Soundbar has a capacitive touch front control panel, a white LED 
    for power indication, and two audio headset jacks.      
    If  VGA/DVI/HDMI input is selected and both  VGA, DVI and HDMI cable are not connected, a floating dialog box as shown 
    below appears.  The monitor will enter  Power Save Mode after 15 minutes  if left at this state.

    Setting Up Your Monitor   
     
    Important instructions to set the display resolution to 1920x1080 (Maximum)  
    For optimal display performance while using the Microsoft Windows ®
      operating systems, set the display resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels by performing the 
    following steps:  
    In Windows XP:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and click  Properties .  
    2. Select the  Settings  tab.  
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding the left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1920x1080 .  
    4. Click  OK .  
    In Windows Vista ®
      or Windows ®
      7:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and click  Personalization .  
    2. Click  Change Display Settings .  
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding the left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1920x1080 .  
    4. Click  OK .  
        If you do not see  1920x1080  as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Please choose the scenario below that best describes the 
    computer system you are using, and follow the provided directions:  
    1:   portable computer with internet access.  
    2:   desktop, portable computer, or graphics card.

    1. Assemble the stand riser to stand base. 
    a. Place the stand riser on top of the stand base. Slide the stand riser horizontally until the tabs are fully inserted into the stand base grooves. 
    b. Tighten the thumbscrew below the stand base. 
       
    2. Attach the stand assembly to the monitor. 
    a. Place the monitor on a soft cloth or cushion near the edge of desk.
       
    b. Align the stand assembly bracket to the monitor groove.   
    c. Insert the bracket towards monitor until it locked in place.   NOTE:  The stand riser and stand base are detached when the monitor is shipped from the factory.   
    						
    							   
       
    Connecting the Monitor  
    To connect your monitor to the computer perform the following steps/instructions:  
    1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable.    
    2. Connect the HDMI cable, white (digital DVI - D), or blue (analog VGA) display connector cable to the corresponding video port on the back of your 
    computer. Do not use all the cables on the same computer.  Use all of the  cables only when they are connected to different computers with appropriate 
    video systems.

    After you have completed connecting the VGA/DVI/HDMI cable, follow the procedure below to complete your monitor setup:  
    1. Plug the power cables for your computer and monitor into a nearby outlet.    CAUTION:  Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the  safety instructions .

    NOTE:  The Graphics are used for the purpose of illustration only. Appearance of the the computer may vary.   
    						
    							2. Turn on the monitor and the computer.  
    If your monitor displays an image, installation is complete. If it does not display an image, see  Solving Problems .    
    Attaching the Soundbar (Optional)  
     
    Removing the Monitor Stand  
     
    After placing the monitor panel on a soft cloth or cushion, complete the following steps to remove the base.  
    1. Use a long screwdriver to push the release latch located in a hole just above the stand.   
    2. Once the latch is released, remove the base away from the monitor.

       1. Working from the rear of the monitor, attach the Soundbar by aligning the two slots with the two tabs along the bottom rear of the monitor.
    2. Slide the Soundbar to the left until it snaps into place.
    Connect the S oundbar with the DC power connector.
    4. Insert the mini stereo plug from the rear of the Soundbar into the computers audio output jack or the monitors audio output jack.
    NOTICE:  Do not use with any device other than the Dell Soundbar.

    Self - Test  
    Your monitor provides a self - test feature that allows you to check whether your monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor and computer are properly 
    connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self - test by performing the following steps:   
    1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.   
    2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self - Test operation, remove the Analog (blue connector) cable from the back of 
    computer.   
    3. Turn on the monitor. 
      
       
    4. This box also appears during normal system operation, if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged. The monitor will enter  Power Save Mode 
    after 15 minutes  if left at this state.   
    5. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the monitor.   
    If your monitor screen remains blank after you have performed Step 5, check your video controller and computer system.  
    Built - in Diagnostics  
    Your monitor has a built - in diagnostic tool that helps you determine if the screen abnormality you are experiencing is an inherent problem with your monitor, or 
    with your computer and video card.  
    To run the built - in diagnostics:  
    1. Ensure that the screen is clean (no dust particles on the surface of the screen).   
    2. Unplug the video cable(s) from the back of the computer or monitor. The monitor then goes into the self - test mode.   
    3. On the front panel, press and hold the  shortcut button 1  and  shortcut button 4  keys on the front panel, simultaneously for 2 seconds. A gray screen 
    appears.   CAUTION:  Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the  Safety Instructions .  
    The floating dialog box should appear on - screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. 
    While in self - test mode, the power LED remains white. Also, the dialog shown below will continuously scroll through the screen.

    NOTE:  You can run the built - in diagnostics only when the video cable is unplugged and the monitor is in  self - test mode .
