    							Menu Timer   Allows you to set the time for which the OSD remains active after you press a key on the monitor.  
    Use the   and   keys to adjust the slider in 1 second increments, from 5 to 60 seconds.   
     
    Menu Lock  
    Controls user access to adjustments. When  Lock  is selected, no user adjustments are allowed. All keys are locked except 
     NOTE:   When the OSD is locked, pressing the menu key takes you directly to the OSD settings menu, with OSD Lock pre
    hold   key for 10 seconds to unlock and allow user access to all applicable settings.   
     
    DDC/CI     DDC/CI (Display Data Channel/Command Interface) allows a software on your computer to adjust the monitor display settings like the brightness, color 
    balance etc.  
    Enable  (Default): Optimizes the performance of your monitor and provides a better customer experience.  
    Disable : Disables the DDC/CI option and the following message appears on the screen.  
     
       
     NOTE:  For best user experience and optimum performance of your monitor, keep this feature enabled.  
     
    LCD Conditioning     This feature will help reduce minor cases of image retention. If an image appears to be stuck on the monitor, select LCD Conditioning to help eliminate any 
    image retention. Using the LCD Conditioning feature may take some time. LCD Conditioning feature cannot remove severe cases of image retention or burn
    in.   
     
     NOTE:   Use LCD Conditioning only when you experience a problem with image retention.   
    The below warning message appears once user selects  “ Enable LCD Conditioning.  
     
     
    NOTE:  Press any button on the monitor to terminate LCD Conditioning at any time.   
     
    Factory Reset   Resets all OSD settings to the factory preset values .    
      Personalize   User can select from Preset Modes, Brightness/Contrast, Auto Adjust, Input Source and set as shortcut key 1 and 2.

    Press  to go back to the main menu.    
         
    When the monitor does not support a particular resolution mode you will see the following message:
     
     
    This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. See  Monitor Specifications  for the 
    Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. Recommended mode is  1440x900. 
     
    You will see the following message before the DDC/CI function is disabled.  
     
     
    When the monitor enters the Power Save mode, the following message appears:  
     
    Activate the computer and wake up the monitor to gain access to the  OSD

    PowerNap Software  
    PowerNap software comes in the CD that comes with the monitor you have just purchased.  
     
    This software provides 2 options where user can select Screen dim or  Sleep when your PC goes to screen saver mode.  
     
    1. Screen dim  -  monitor dims to minimum brightness level when PC is in screen saver mode.  
     
    2. Sleep  -  monitor goes into sleep mode when PC is in screen saver mode.  
     
     
     
    The latest version of the PowerNap Software can be downloaded from Dell ’ s website. This will ensure that the software is compatible with your graphics card.  
    Steps to download software:  
    1. Go to http://www.support.dell.com   
    2. Select  “ Monitor Drivers ”   under  “ Drivers and downloads ”   tab   
    3. Select your Monitor Model  –   PowerNap Application   
    4. Download and install application   
    Setting the Maximum Resolution  
    To set the maximum resolution for the monitor.  
    Windows XP:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and select  Properties .   
    2. Select the  Settings  tab.   
    3. Set the screen resolution to 1440 x 900.   
    4. Click  OK .   
    Windows Vista ®  or Windows ®  7:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and select  Personalization .   
    2. Click Change Display Settings .   
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1440 x 900 .   
    4. Click  OK .     
    If VGA or DVI cable is not connected, a floating dialog box as shown below appears.  The monitor will enter  Power Save Mode after 15 minutes  if left at this 
    state.

    NOTE: After installation, one desktop shortcut and one shortcut under Start for PowerNap are created.  
    OS support: Windows XP32, XP64, Vista32, Vista64, Windows 7  
    Output interface support: VGA and DVI.    
    						
    							If you do not see 1440 x 900 as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Depending on your computer, complete one of the following 
    procedures.  
     
    If you have a Dell desktop or portable computer:   
    Go to  support.dell.com , enter your service tag, and download the latest driver for your graphics card.   
    If you are using a non - Dell computer (portable or desktop):  
    Go to the support site for your computer and download the latest graphic drivers.   
    Go to your graphics card website and download the latest graphic drivers.   
    Using the Dell Soundbar (Optional)  
    The Dell soundbar is a stereo two channel system, mountable on Dell Flat Panel Displays.  The soundbar has a rotary volume and on/off control to adjust the 
    overall system level, a LED for power indication, and two audio headset jacks.

    With the built - in pedestal, you can tilt the monitor for the most comfortable viewing angle.

    Setting Up Your Monitor

    Setting the display resolution to 1440x900 (Maximum)  
    For optimal display performance while using the Microsoft Windows ®
      operating systems, set the display resolution to 1440 x 900 pixels by performing the 
    following steps:  
    In Windows XP:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and click  Properties .  
    2. Select the  Settings  tab.  
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding the left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1440 x 900 .  
    4. Click  OK .  
    In Windows Vista ®
      or Windows ®
      7:  
    1. Right - click on the desktop and click  Personalization .  
    2. Click  Change Display Settings .  
    3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding the left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to  1440 x 900 .  
    4. Click  OK .  
        If you do not see  1440 x 900  as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Please choose the scenario below that best describes the

    Connecting Your Monitor  
    To connect your monitor to the computer:  
    1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable. 
    Connect the blue (VGA) cable from your monitor to your computer.  NOTE:  The stand base is detached when the monitor is shipped from the factory.
    To attach the monitor stand body to the stand base:  
    1. Place the monitor stand base on a stable table top.
    2. Slide the monitor stand body in the correct direction down onto the stand base until it clicks into place.
     WARNING:  Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the  Safety Instructions .   
    						
    							 
    2. Connect either the white (digital DVI - D) or the blue (analog VGA) display connector cable to the corresponding video port on the back of your 
    computer. Do not use both cables on the same computer. Use both the cables only when they are connected to two different computers with 
    appropriate video systems.

    Removing the Stand Base   NOTE: If your computer supports a white DVI connector, connect the white DVI cable (that ships with your monitor) from your 
    monitor to your computer.  
     
    NOTE: Do not connect both the blue VGA and the white DVI cables to the computer as all monitors ship with the VGA cable attached 
    to the monitor. 
    CAUTION:  The graphics are used for the purpose of illustration only. Appearance on the computer may vary.  
    						
    							   
    Attaching the Dell Soundbar  
     
    To attach the soundbar:  
       
    Removing the Stand for VESA Wall Mount    
    To remove stand base from the monitor:  
    1. Place the monitor panel on soft cloth or cushion on a stable flat table.  
    2. Press and hold the release latch, while pulling the stand base away from the monitor.
    CAUTION:  Do not use with any device other than the Dell soundbar. 
    1.  Working from the back of the monitor, attach soundbar by aligning the two slots with the two tabs along the bottom of the monitor.
    2.  Slide the soundbar to the left until it snaps into place.
    3.  Connect the soundbar with the DC power connector from the soundbar Power Adaptor.
    4.  Insert the mini stereo plug from the back of the soundbar into the computers audio output jack.

        To remove the stand assembly from the monitor:
    1. Place the monitor panel on soft cloth or cushion on a stable flat table.
    2. Remove the three screws on the stand of the monitor as shown above.
    3. Remove the stand assembly from the monitor.
