Rotating the Monitor Before you rotate the monitor, your monitor should be fully vertically extended ( Vertical Extension ) and fully ( Tilt ) up to avoid hitting the bottom edge of the monitor. NOTE: If locked in the down position, 1. Push the monitor down. 2. Press the Lock down / release button on the bottom rear of stand to unlock the monitor. 3. Lift the monitor up and extend the stand to the desired height. NOTICE: Before relocating or moving the monitor to a different location, make sure that the stand is locked down. To lock it down, lower the height of the panel until it clicks and is locked into place.
Adjusting the Rotation Display Settings of Your System After you have rotated your monitor, you need to complete the procedure below to adjust the Rotation Display Settings of Your System. 1. Right - click on the desktop and click Properties . 2. Select the Settings tab and click Advanced . 3. If you have an ATI graphics card, select the Rotation tab and set the preferred rotation. If you have an nVidia graphics card, click the nVidia tab, in the left - hand column select NVRotate , and then select the preferred rotation. If you have an Intel graphics card, select the Intel graphics tab, click Graphic Properties , select the Rotation tab, and then set the preferred rotation. Right - click on the desktop and click Properties . 2. Select the Settings tab. 3. Move the slider - bar to the right by pressing and holding left - mouse button and adjust the screen resolution to 1680 x 1050. 4. Click OK . Back to Contents Page Setting Up the Monitor 2208WFP Flat Panel Monitor Users Guide Attaching the Stand Connecting your Monitor Organizing Your Cables Attaching the Soundbar (optional) Removing the Stand Attaching the Stand Place the s tand on a flat surface and follow these steps to attach the monitor stand: 1. Fit the groove on the back of the monitor to the two tabs on the upper part of the stand. 2. Lower the monitor so that the monitor mounting area snaps on to or locks on to the stand. Connecting Your Monitor To connector your monitor to the computer perform the following steps/instructions: l Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable. l Connect either the white (digital DVI - D) or the blue (analog VGA) display connector cable to the corresponding video port on the back of your computer. Do not use both cables on the same computer. Use both the cables only when they are connected to two different computers with appropriate video systems. Connecting the White DVI Cable NOTE: The stand is detached and extended when the monitor is shipped from the factory. CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the Safety Instructions .
Connecting the Blue VGA Cable After you have completed connecting the DVI/VGA cable, follow the procedure below to connect the USB cable to the computer and complete your monitor setup: l Connect the upstream USB port (cable supplied) to an appropriate USB port on your computer . l Connect USB peripherals to the downstream USB ports (rear or side) on the monitor. (See rear or bottom view for details.) l Plug the power cables for your computer and monitor into a nearby outlet. l Turn on the monitor and the computer. If your monitor displays an image, installation is complete. If it does not display an image, see Solving Problems. l Use the cable holder on the monitor stand to organize the cables. Organizing Your Cables After attaching all necessary cables to your monitor and computer, (See Connecting Your Monitor for cable attachment,) use the cable management hole to organize all cables as shown above. NOTE: The Graphics are used for the purpose of illustration only. Appearance of the computer may vary.
Attaching the Soundbar Removing the Stand Complete the following steps to remove the stand: 1. Rotate the stand to allow access to the stand release button. 2. P ress and hold the Stand release button. 3. Lift the stand up and away from the monitor . Back to Contents Page NOTICE: Do not use with any device other than Dell Soundbar . NOTE: Soundbar Power Connector - 12V DC output is for optional Soundbar only. 1. Working from the rear of the monitor, attach Soundbar by aligning the two slots with the two tabs along the bottom rear of the monitor. 2. Slide the Soundbar to the left until it snaps into place. Connect the S oundbar with the DC power connector. 4. Insert the mini stereo plug from the rear of the Dell Soundbar into the computers audio output jack. NOTE: To prevent scratches on the LCD screen while removing the stand, ensure that the monitor is placed on a clean surface.

If your monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self - test by performing the following steps: 1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor. 2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self - Test operation, remove both Digital (white connector) and the Analog (blue connector) cables from the back of computer. 3. Turn on the monitor. 4. This box also appears during normal system operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged. 5. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the monitor. If your monitor screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video controller and computer, because your monitor is functioning properly. Common Problems The following table contains general information about common monitor problems you might encounter and the possible solutions. CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the Safety Instructions . The floating dialog box should appear on - screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self - test mode, the power LED remains green. Also, depending upon the selected input, one of the dialogs shown below will continuously scroll through the screen. or NOTE: Self test feature check is not available for S - Video, Composite, and Component video modes. Common Symptoms What You Experience Possible Solutions No Video/ Power LED off No picture l Ensure that the video cable connecting the monitor and the computer is properly connected and secure. l Verify that the power outlet is functioning properly using any other electrical equipment. l Ensure that the power button depressed fully. No Video/ Power LED on No picture or no brightness l Increase brightness & contrast controls via OSD. l Perform monitor self - test feature check. l Check for bent or broken pins in the video cable connector. Poor Focus Picture is fuzzy, blurry, or ghosting l Perform Auto Adjust via OSD. l Adjust the Phase and Pixel Clock controls via OSD. l Eliminate video extension cables. l Reset the monitor to Factory Settings. l Change the video resolution to the correct aspect ration (16:10). Shaky/Jittery Video Wavy picture or fine movement l Perform Auto Adjust via OSD. l Adjust the Phase and Pixel Clock controls via OSD. l Reset the monitor to Factory Settings. l Check environmental factors. l Relocate the monitor and test in another room. Missing Pixels LCD screen has spots l Cycle power on - off. l Pixel that is permanently off is a natural defect that can occur in LCD technology. NOTE: When using 2:DVI - D, the Pixel Clock and Phase adjustments are not available. Synchronization Problems Screen is scrambled or appears torn l Reset the monitor to Factory Settings. l Perform Auto Adjust via OSD. l Adjust Phase and Pixel Clock controls via OSD. l Perform monitor self - test feature check to determine if scrambled screen appears in self - test mode. l Check for bent or broken pins in the video cable connector. l Restart the computer in the safe mode . Safety Related Issues Visible signs of smoke or sparks l Do not perform any troubleshooting steps. l Contact Dell immediately. Intermittent Problems Monitor malfunctions on & off l Ensure that the video cable connecting the monitor to the computer is connected properly and is secure. l Reset the monitor to Factory Settings. l Perform monitor self - test feature check to determine if the intermittent problem occurs in self - test mode. Missing Color Picture missing color l Perform monitor self - test feature check. l Ensure that the video cable connecting the monitor to the computer is connected properly and is secure. l Check for bent or broken pins in the video cable connector.. Wrong Color Picture color not good l Change the Color Setting Mode in the Color Settings OSD to Graphics or Video depending to the application. l Try different Color Preset Settings in Color Settings OSD. Adjust R/G/B value in Color Settings OSD if the Color Management is turned off. l Change the Input Color Format to PC RGB or YPbPr in the Advance Setting OSD. Image retention from a static image left on the monitor for a long period of time Faint shadow from the static image displayed appears on the screen l Use the Power Management feature to turn off the monitor at all times when not in use (for more information, see Power Management Modes ). l Alternatively, use a dynamically changing screensaver. Cannot adjust the monitor with the buttons on the front panel OSD does not appear on the screen l Turn off the monitor, unplug the power cord, plug back, and then turn on the monitor. The monitor will not go into power saving mode. No picture, the LED light is blue. When press “ + ” , “ - ” or “ Menu ” key, the message “ No S - Video input signal ” , “ No Composite input signal ” or “ No Component input signal ” appears l Move mouse or hit any key on the keyboard or activate the video player, then access the OSD to set Audio to state. No Input Signal when user controls are pressed No picture, the LED light is blue. When press + , - or Menu key, the message No S - Video input signal, No Composite input signal, or No Component input signal appears l Check the signal source. Ensure the Computer is not in the power saving mode by moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard. l Check to make sure Video Source to S - Video, Composite or Component is powered and playing video media. l Check whether the signal cable is plugged in properly. Re - plug the signal cable if necessary. l Reset the computer or video player. The picture does not fill the entire screen. The picture cannot fill the height or width of the screen l Due to different video formats (aspect ratio) of DVDs, the monitor may display in full screen. Input auto switching to another source Cant select input source l UnderAuto Detectmode if one of the DVI or VGA signal is lost(or cable disconnected)this display will automatically to the other input source where a signal exist. NOTE: When choosing DVI - D mode, the Auto Adjust function is not available. High Speed USB 2.0 interface is slow. Ensure that the correct USB port is used. l Reconnect the upstream cable to your computer. l Reconnect the USB peripherals (downstream connectoryf l Reboot the computer.
