    Hfthebandsawistobeusedasaportabletool,itis 
    recommendedthatyoufastenitpermanentlytoamount-

    ofsufficientsizetoavoidtippingofsawwhileinuse.Any 
    goodgradeplywoodorchipboardwitha3/4in.thickness 
    isrecommended.

    Abandsawisbasicallyacurvecuttingmachinethat

    crosscutting,ripping,mitering,beveling,compoundcut: 
    ting,andresawing.Itisnotcapableofmakinginsideor 
    non-throughcuts. 
    Thisbandsawisdesignedtocutwoodandwoodcompo: 
    sitionproductsonly. 
    Beforestartingacut,watchthesawrun.Ifyouexperience 
    excessivevibrationorunusualnoise,stopimmediately. 
    Turnthesawoff,removetheswitchkey,andunplugthe 
    saw.Donotrestartuntillocatingandcorrectingtheprob- 
    lem.

    minedbybladewidth.A1/4in.widebladewillcuta 
    minimumdiameterof1-1/2in.;a1/8in.widebladewill 
    cutaminimumdiameterof1/2in. 
    []Keepyourhandsawayfromtheblade.Donothandle 
    piecessosmallyourfingerswillgoundertheblade 
    guard.

    asuddenslipcouldcauseseriousinjuryfromcontact 
    withtheblade.Neverplacehandsinbladepath.

    whencuttinglarge,small,orawkwardworkpieces. 
    []Neveruseapersonasasubstituteforatableexten- 
    sionorasadditionalsupportforaworkpiecethatis 
    longerorwiderthanthebasicsawtable. 
    []Whencuttingirregularlyshapedworkpieces,planyour 
    worksoitwillnotpinchtheblade.Forexample,a 
    pieceofmoldingmustlieflatonthesawtable.Work- 
    piecesmustnottwist,rockorslipwhilebeingcut. 
    Whenbackinguptheworkpiece,theblademaybindin 
    thekerf(cut).Thisisusuallycausedbysawdustclogging 
    thekerforwhenthebladecomesoutoftheguides.Hfthis 
    happens: 
    []Waituntilthesawhascometoafullandcomplete 
    stop. 
    []PlacetheswitchintheOFFpositionthenremovethe 
    switchkeyfromtheswitchassembly,.Storekeyina 
    safeplace. 
    []Unplugthesawfromthepowersource. 
    []Wedgethekerfopenwithafiatscrewdriverorwooden 
    wedge. 
    []Openfrontcoverandturntheupperwheelbyhand 
    whilebackinguptheworkpiece. 
    RELmEFCUTS 
    Reliefcutsaremadewhenanintricatecurve(toosmalla 
    radiusfortheblade)istobecut.Cutthroughascrapsec- 
    tionoftheworkpiecetocurveinpatternlinethencarefully 
    backthebladeout.Severalreliefcutsshouldbemadefor 
    intricatecurvesbeforefollowingthepatternlineassec- 
    tionsarecutoffofcurverelievingbladepressure. 
    SCROLLCUTTmNG 
    Forgeneraltypescrollcutting,followthepatternlinesby 
    pushingandturningtheworkpieceatthesametime.Do 
    nottrytoturntheworkpiecewhileengagedintheblade 
    withoutpushingit,theworkpiececouldbindortwistthe 
    blade. REMOVINGJAMMEDMATERIAL 
    Neverremovejammedcutoffpiecesuntilthebladehas 
    cometoafullandcompletestop. 
    []PlacetheswitchintheOFFposition,removethe 
    switchkeyfromtheswitchassembly. 
    []Unplugthesawfromthepowersourcebeforeremov- 
    ingjammedmaterial. 
    AVOmDmNGmNJURY 
    []Makesuresawislevelanddoesnotrock.Sawshould 
    alwaysbeonafirm,leve!surfacewithplentyofroom 
    forhandlingandproperlysupportingtheworkpiece. 
    []Boltsawtothesupportsurfacetopreventslipping, 
    walking,orslidingduringoperationslikecuttinglong, 
    heavyboards.
