Squeezethethrottlecontrolandcheckthatitreturns automaticallytotheidleposition.Makealladjustmentsor repairsbeforeusingtheunit. Thisunitisintendedforoccasional,householduseonly. Wearheavylongpants,boots,glovesandalongsleeveshirt.Do notwearlooseclothing,jewelry,shortpants,sandalsorgo barefoot.Securehairaboveshoulderlevel. Thecuttingheadshieldmustalwaysbeinplacewhileoperating theunit.Donotoperatetheunitwithoutbothtrimminglines extendedandtheproperlineinstalled.Donotextendthe trimminglinebeyondthelengthoftheshield. Thisunithasaclutch.Thecuttingheadremainsstationarywhen theengineisidling.Ifitdoesnot,taketheunittoaSearsor otherqualifiedservicedealerforanadjustment. Adjustthehandletoprovidethebestgrip,ifapplicable. Makesuretheattachmentisnotincontactwithanythingbefore startingtheunit. Usetheunitonlyindaylightorgoodartificiallight. iNSTALLiNGTHECUTTINGHEADSHIELD _WARNING:Topreventseriouspersonalinjury,never] operatetheunitwithoutthecuttingheadshieldinplace. 1.Placethecuttingheadshieldontothemountbracket.Alignthe holesinthecuttingheadshieldwiththeholesinthemount bracket.(Fig.1) Screwthe2screwsthroughthemountbracketandintothe cuttingheadshielduntilfingertight. Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,tightenthescrewsuntilthe cuttingheadshieldisfirmlyinplace.Tightenthescrewsequally. Thegapbetweenthemountbracketandthecuttingheadshield shouldbethesameoneachside. 2, 3. NOTE:Fordecorativetrimmingwithastringtrimmerattachment, lockthereleasebuttonintothe90°hole(Fig.4). CAUTION:Beforeoperatingtheunit,makesurethe releasebuttonisfullysnappedintotheprimaryholeandthe knobissecurelytightened. CAUTION:Unlessspecifiedotherwise,therelease buttonshouldbesnappedintotheprimaryholeonly.Using thewrongholecouldleadtopersonalinjuryordamageto theunit. DefinitionofBlendedFuels Todaysfuelsareoftenablendofgasolineandoxygenatessuchas ethanol,methanolorMTBE(ether).Alcohol-blendedfuelabsorbs water.Aslittleas1%waterinthefuelcanmakefuelandoil separate,formingacidswhenstored.ALWAYSusefreshfuel(less than30daysold). NOTE:Disposeofoldfuelaccordingtofederal,stateandlocal regulations.
