automaticallytotheidleposition.Makealladjustmentsor

Wearheavylongpants,boots,glovesandalongsleeveshirt.Do 
notwearlooseclothing,jewelry,shortpants,sandalsorgo 
barefoot.Securehairaboveshoulderlevel. 
Thecuttingheadshieldmustalwaysbeinplacewhileoperating 
theunit.Donotoperatetheunitwithoutbothtrimminglines 
extendedandtheproperlineinstalled.Donotextendthe 
trimminglinebeyondthelengthoftheshield. 
Thisunithasaclutch.Thecuttingheadremainsstationarywhen 
theengineisidling.Ifitdoesnot,taketheunittoaSearsor 
otherqualifiedservicedealerforanadjustment. 
Adjustthehandletoprovidethebestgrip,ifapplicable. 
Makesuretheattachmentisnotincontactwithanythingbefore

1.Placethecuttingheadshieldontothemountbracket.Alignthe 
holesinthecuttingheadshieldwiththeholesinthemount 
bracket.(Fig.1) 
Screwthe2screwsthroughthemountbracketandintothe 
cuttingheadshielduntilfingertight. 
Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,tightenthescrewsuntilthe 
cuttingheadshieldisfirmlyinplace.Tightenthescrewsequally. 
Thegapbetweenthemountbracketandthecuttingheadshield 
shouldbethesameoneachside.  2,

4.Tightentheboltwitha3/8socketuntilthehandleissecure.

1.Loosentheboltwitha3/8socket(Fig.2). 
2.Whileholdingtheunitintheoperatingposition(Fig.11),move 
thehandletothelocationthatprovidesthebestgrip.Placeita 
minimumof6inches(15.24cm)fromtheendoftheshaftgrip 
(Fig.2).

grayspacerfromthecoupler. 
2.Settheunitonaflat,levelsurface. 
3.Turntheknobcounterclockwisetoloosenthecoupler(Fig.4). 
4.Alignthereleasebuttonwiththeguiderecess(Fig.5). 
5.Pushtheattachmentstraightintothecoupler(Fig.3)untilthe 
releasebuttonsnapsfirmlyintotheprimaryhole(Fig.5). 
6.Turntheknobclockwisetotightenthecoupler(Fig.4). 
NOTE:Fordecorativetrimmingwithastringtrimmerattachment, 
lockthereleasebuttonintothe90°hole(Fig.4). 
CAUTION:Beforeoperatingtheunit,makesurethe 
releasebuttonisfullysnappedintotheprimaryholeandthe 
knobissecurelytightened. 
CAUTION:Unlessspecifiedotherwise,therelease 
buttonshouldbesnappedintotheprimaryholeonly.Using 
thewrongholecouldleadtopersonalinjuryordamageto 
theunit.

Todaysfuelsareoftenablendofgasolineandoxygenatessuchas 
ethanol,methanolorMTBE(ether).Alcohol-blendedfuelabsorbs

separate,formingacidswhenstored.ALWAYSusefreshfuel(less 
than30daysold).

instructionsonthecontainer.NEVERaddfueladditivesdirectlyto 
theunitsfueltank.

4.Wipeupanyfuelthatmayhavespilled. 
5.Reinstallthefuelcap. 
6.Movetheunitatleast30ft.(9.1m)fromthefuelcontainerand 
thefuelingsitebeforestartingtheengine.
